Yeah, we thank God again for today as we have gathered together to take the matter from where we left it last Monday. We began "Biblical Concept of Faith". We began our biblical concept of faith last Monday. We have been able to look at what Apostle James said about the matter. That's where we started from. We started from where Apostle James in James chapter three began to talk about the concept of faith. And we were able to raise some issues last week. I also want to mention that the technical later may not realize that there was a question that was asked last week that somebody raised on the platform on Telegram that we should make reference to that question. My mind however is that I want us to still look further into this matter. After about maybe two, three of the series, we will be attending to questions. The question that came last week, I think the question was later sent to me. Okay. It says that say that you are having financial constraint, but a sister came along with a lesser need financially. What do we do? e.g. you are looking for a million Naira and you have two million in your hands to pay for a three million expense. Then there is a sister comes with a need of 200,000. What do we do? Do we explain that we ourselves are in a worse situation or do we give using what we have believing that God will provide 1.2 million for us? That question was asked, was raised last week. My attention was called to it. I'll definitely attend to questions. And please I want to say that if you still have questions, listener, please go ahead and raise your questions. Oh as we are taking this topic "Biblical Concepts of Faith", today we are moving on to Biblical Concepts of Faith II. We began last week I, today we have episode II. If you are having questions just raise them. Hopefully by the time we have done maybe about quarter way or half way into this topic, we are going to have one of the Mondays to be a full interaction Monday where participants will not be muted. I mean you'll be able to talk. We are going to make that possible so that we can all talk together around the question. We can ask, we can talk back, we can clarify questions around this matter that we are looking at, the subject of faith. Faith is so crucial for without faith it is impossible to please God. And that's why we are looking at it step by step. So please if there are other people that have questions, don't think that oh we didn't answer a particular question, I will not ask my question. Or perhaps some other topic that we had earlier. No problem at all. So we want to move on from where we stopped last week, the book of James. And we were saying that elder raising very crucial matter to us or placing very crucial matter before us that we cannot set aside. And he was making us to see somebody says. He began with the reality of trying to look at the connection between faith and what we say. Believers are not expected to be people who speak in vain, who just speak without watching over their words and perform it. Believers should not be that kind of people. A believer should be those who mean what they say and who say what they mean. And we also saw that from opening up on the matter of faith with this elder, we saw that faith is also very related to what people can see. Faith is something visible. Faith is something visible. Where faith is not visible, it is no faith. I related that to the word of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 5:16. So we saw two important principles last week about faith. Number one, believers must not be people who speak in vain. They are people who act on what they say. They act on it. They show action in their love for somebody. It is not just what you say. The person can see by the things you do that yes this person loves me. This person care. This person is been concerned. Faith is not based on a vacuum. And very importantly, faith is visible. So that's just where we stopped last week. And that was in James 2:18: "But someone will say, 'You have faith and I have works.'" And then the elder said, Apostle James said, "Show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith by my works." That was where we stopped last week. Now we are going to verse 19 of the book of James chapter 2. It says: "You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even demons believe and tremble." Verse 20: "But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?" So which means that verse 18, 19, 20 through to 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26. I mean from verse 18 to 26, the conclusion. Just like 14 to 17 were connected together. If you must understand what he's saying, you must put those three verses together. In the same way, if you must really understand what he meant in the verse 18, you must put it together with the verse 19, verse 20, verse 21, verse up to verse 26. You must put all together if you must properly understand what he's trying to say. That's what we are looking at in that place. Oh so it goes together. It goes together. The whole of that place goes together from verse 18 through to verse 26. They are all together. They are all together. So let's see how we go looking at verse 18, verse 18, 19 and through to 26. This time around let's see how we connect all together. Let's see how all of them go together. Let's go back now to verse 18. Now if someone will say, that was where we stopped. "Someone will say you have faith, I have works." And then he said "Show me your faith without works. Me I will by my works show you my faith. Show me my faith." So he came to verse 19. He was trying to drive home what he raised in the verse 18. He wanted to drive it home. And the statement that this elder used to drive the matter home is something that calls for serious consideration. I mean verse 19 is something that calls for very serious consideration. It says verse 19 says: "You believe that there is one God. Of course you do well. But you must remember that demons also believe and tremble." Now the point is this. The point is this. You have faith. Now the only way to show that your faith is not the same as the kind of faith that the devil has. The devil has a kind of faith. The devil believe also. There is no doubt that the existence of God, the almightiness of God, the power of God, the greatness of God. There is nothing in scriptures that in any way, in any iota give any impression that the devil do not believe in God. Practical things that you can see. If you notice that during the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, sometimes when he gets to somebody who is possessed by a demon, you will notice that the demons they will cry out and they will say "Ah! Ah! Son of God, have you come to torment us before time? Have you come to torment us before time?" Look at the madman at Gadara. The demons said "We are many." Look at how they pleaded to enter into the swine. That it will please not cast them to the abyss but they pleaded to enter into swine, into that herd of swine. Now what am I trying to make you see is that these are enough evidences for you to know that devil trembles. "Ah! Please don't torment us!" Remember the seven sons of Sceva that went to a man possessed with demon. And they said "In the name of Jesus that Paul preach, get out!" Look at the response of the demon: "Jesus oh I know him. I've submitted to him. Paul we also know him. He's a servant of the Lord Jesus. But you? Can we know your address? Can I know your identity? You baseless, you useless people." And then the demon pounced on them and dealt severely with them. So you see that the demons recognize Jesus and they recognize Paul. The point I'm trying to make you see is that Apostle James is calling our attention to something. That if you say that your faith is not visible, it cannot be visible by the things you do, then whatever you may be doing is tantamount to satanic operation. Because Satan also believe and trembles. But you know that the Satan is still Satan. So what makes Satan Satan is not that he does not believe in God. What makes Satan Satan is not that he does not have reverence for God. He believe God. What makes Satan Satan is that his works don't glorifies God. He does things that does not glorify God, that when you see it you will not give glory to God. That is what makes Satan Satan. So when you say you believe and what you are doing people cannot see it and give glory to God, then you are not different from Satan. You are a satanic... do I say satanic Christian? Can there be satanic Christian? I don't know. But you are satanic. What you are operating is not different from what demons operate. Demons believe but in their works they give glory to God. You can't be married to a woman who is possessed with satanic spirit and by the things she will be doing you can never give glory to God. The same thing, somebody who is satanic as a husband, the wife by what that husband will be doing will never make the wife give glory to God. If you have a neighbor who is satanic, what that person will be doing will never make you give glory to God. If you have a teacher, a doctor, a motor, a lecturer, a policeman, a NEPA officer, just mention any kind of person who is satanic, by the works they will be doing, it can never be good works. It can never be things that will bring glory to God. And what exactly are we saying so that you can get it clear? So that you don't get me wrong. Because sometimes you may be asking me, you may be telling me now, but there are some moralists who are not Christians. Are we saying that their lives give glory to God? You might be asking me that question. That was why I said last week, I said something very, very vital last week. That we are not saved by good works but we are saved for good works. Bible says we are the workmanship of God created in Christ Jesus unto good works that he had prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. So we are not saved by good works. We are saved for good works. When you see people whose focus of good works is what they are relying on as the basis of being acceptable to God, those are not Christians. For Christian, good works are rather a response of thanksgiving to God. It's how if God loves me this much so as to saved my soul, I cannot but love him too. What Apostle Paul called in 2 Corinthians 5:14-17. He says the love of Christ constrains us that we thus judge that if one died for all then all are dead and he died so that those who live will no more live unto themselves but unto him who died for them and rose again. So the believer is not saved by good works. The believer is saved for good works. Now that is when we notice something very crucial in Matthew chapter 7. Let's look at Matthew chapter 7. We want to understand something together here. Very familiar scripture but I just want us to look it together so that you get the gist of the matter. Look at what our Lord Jesus Christ said. Again we are making reference to the Lord Jesus. Last week we made reference to Matthew chapter 5. Today we are making reference to Matthew chapter 7. He says in verse 21 or from verse 21: "Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' shall enter the kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my Father." Are you seeing that? Are you seeing that? Not everyone, not everyone who calls me Lord, Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven. But he who does the will of my Father. That is what James is saying. What makes Satan Satan is that Satan recognizes that Jesus is Lord. So he calls him Lord. "Ah! Son of God, have you come to torment me before time? Ah! Please don't be so, let me enter into the swine." So he had a clear understanding that Jesus is Lord. There is no controversy about that. That is why demons please. They were begging not to be tormented before time. They knew that a time has been set apart that they will be tormented, that Jesus will deal with them totally. So they have a clear understanding. They know their Lord. They know their master. At the mention of Jesus, everything bow. The Bible says having spoiled principalities and power, he made a public show of them, triumphing over them in the cross. So they knew that hey this man through death he have conquered death and had destroyed him of death from the devil that have power over them. So devil knows that he has been disarmed. He knows his master. So there is no doubt whether devil believe in the lordship of Jesus. So when you see somebody who don't doubt the lordship of Jesus, the person do well. But the person must also understand that that is also the level where devil is. The devil also accept that Jesus is Lord. He knows that Jesus is Lord. He submits to that. He agrees to that. But what makes him devil? What makes him Satan is that he will never do the will of God. So if you are somebody who calls him Lord, Lord but you don't do, that's what James is saying. He says "Okay, you say you have faith without works? Okay, me I will by my works I will show you my faith." By doing his will, you show that I have faith in God. By not doing his will, even if you call him Lord, Lord, you are Satan. You are not Christian. You are not a Christian. For you to be a Christian, it is not just calling him Lord, Lord and respect him for that. That is very good. That's why James said you do well. But you must also understand that that is the level where Satan is. So anybody that recognizes the lordship of Jesus, that respects Jesus as Lord, but the person is not doing the Lord's will, that person is not different from Satan. That person is satanic. The person will move to and fro. That person will move to and fro only to kill, to steal, and to destroy. That is why you will see such person. If they are in church, if you get married to them, you can never find peace being married to them. If you are their neighbor, you can never find joy being with them. If you are their apprentice, you will never find joy being under them. If they are your discipler, you will never find joy being with them. Because they will not do God's will. The things they will do will keep provoking you to anger. They will not be good example for you for them to follow. "Follow me as I follow Christ." They will tell you "Do what I say, don't do what I do." They will not be leader by example. Their life, that's why we look at Hebrews. Paul said submit to your leaders considering the end of their life. What the life of a man is speaking is very important for you to follow such a man. Don't just follow anybody with your life. Look at how his own life is going. Look at what his own life is speaking. Is his life speaking submission to God? Is his life speaking obedience to God's will? That is why you find that in some relationships people find it difficult to follow some people. In some marriage, some wife cannot follow their husband. Some husband cannot follow their wife. Because you cannot see Jesus in them even though they claim to call Jesus. Why? That is what James is addressing today. That if you say you have faith, eh, but somebody else have work. But you your faith is just any how. Whatever you want to think about me you can be thinking. But me, I know I believe in God. You don't know what you are talking. You are such an ignorant person. You don't know what you are talking about. The matter is our works should show our faith. So if you are one to now look a little backward so that you can get what I'm saying. In that Matthew chapter 7, you will notice that what led to this statement that Jesus made was also the matter of works. That is the works that James is talking about. James is not saying that we are saved by works. No, he's saying that if we are truly saved, it will show in our action. It will show in the things we do daily. It will show in our lifestyle. It will show because the reality is that anywhere the will of God is not done, the kingdom of God is not there. He said "Our Father who art in heaven, thy kingdom come." Please listen, please listen, please listen. "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Anywhere the kingdom of God has truly come into any life, where the kingdom of God truly came into your life, if the kingdom of God actually came, if it came, at a point it came into your life, if actually it has happened, then the will of God will be done on earth. If the will of God is not done, the kingdom of God has not come. That's what James is saying. Devil, in the devil, the kingdom of God has not come. It is again God's kingdom because it's not doing God's will although he believe that Jesus is Lord. May you not be a satanic Christian. Or may you not be satanic because there can't be a satanic Christian. You are either a Christian or you are not a Christian. So may you not be satanic. And I pray for you anywhere you have been satanic, maybe in your marriage, maybe in your workplace, maybe in your community, maybe in the fellowship, I don't know, anywhere and you have been satanic even if you claim to be born again, I pray for deliverance for you in the name of Jesus. May you encounter correct revelation and correct teaching that will change your life. May you have an encounter, encounter of truth that will change you. Don't be satanic. That's what James is saying. And if you look at that Matthew 7, you see what the Lord, what the Lord Jesus is saying. Look at what led to that statement in 21. I now want to go back a little so that you see that to understand any verse of the scripture, you must read what is coming before it and what comes after it so that you can be able to properly understand it. Don't take any verse outside of its context or else you will run into error. You will run into error. Always look at every verse of the scripture within the context in which they are discussed or they are raised. It's difficult when we are not looking at what James was saying in the context of what he was saying. No, so I am telling you the context in which James was speaking. Look at how the Lord put it. Let's go up a little now, then back into that 21 so that you could get it. Look at what the Lord Jesus Christ was saying in this place. Now let me read now from verse 13. Please follow the reading that leads to 21. You will see that it is verse 13 to 20 that leads to 21. It is that 21 that lead to 22, 23, 24, 25, 26. Let's see what the Lord Jesus Christ was saying in this place. Now let's look at the context of this scripture. Let's look at it. Now from verse 13. It says: "Enter by the narrow gate." Something just occurred within my spirit. Wherever you are listening to me, can you just pray? "Lord, always help me in all situations of life to always come in through the narrow gate. Lord in all situations, in all ramifications of my life. My career, my marriage, my finance, my relationship, just every area, every area. My health, everything about me. Lord let let it be that my entrance will be through the narrow gate. My coming in will be through the correct door. Not to enter through a wrong door. Not to enter by wrong teaching, by wrong impression. Oh Lord reset my life. Lord help my life to always know the truth so that the truth can set me free. So that I always do at liberty and never be in bondage." Thank you Father. Thank you Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Let's go ahead. I just felt we should pray. I felt we should pray. So let's move on now. Now verse 13. It says: "Enter by the narrow gate for wide," please listen, listen. The reason why the one is narrow is because the other one is wide. "Enter by the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction. And there are many who goes in by it." So you have more people going to the part of destruction than those not going to that part. What I'm trying to say is that the way of life is not the way of majority. That may look very, very hard but that is the truth. The way of life is not the way of majority. If you are looking for what everybody is doing for you to do it, you may never be able to follow God. The way of life is not the way of majority because it is narrow. It is the way of destruction that takes majority. It is the part of destruction. I'm not the one who who is saying so. It is the Lord Jesus that said so. So please wise up. Wise up. Wise up. What I'm trying to make you understand. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. You know what just occurred in my spirit? What occurred in my spirit indeed. Look at the parable of the sower. It was the Lord Jesus who told that parable. He said a sower went to sow. And as he was doing the sowing, some fell by the wayside. The birds of the air eat them up. Some fell on rocky ground. Quickly they began to grow but when the sun came up, he stopped them from growing by the heat. Some fell among thorns. They wanted to grow but the thorns would not make them grow. Then some fell on good soil. Eventually the Lord went to interpret that parable. The one by the wayside are those who hear the word of God but don't understand it. So there's need for understanding the way you hear the word of God. Then the devil just come and confuse them and steal what they think, what they got. The other one are those who hear the word of God but they did not develop roots in themselves. They didn't go deep, deep. When persecution came, hey they fled. Then there's another category. They love God, they began to follow God, but you know the love for for pleasure, for riches, they value certain things more than the kingdom. They became profane. They place higher value on lesser things and lesser value on higher things. So they missed their way. The riches and the care of life took them over. Then some fell on the good soil. You know what just occurred to me? Take the percentage, take a ratio in what the Lord Jesus Christ said in that parable. You know he said he the sower that is busy sowing. Now look at what he said. 75% of his labor, of people that will be hearing him will not enter the kingdom. You know immediately I said the way of life is not the way of majority. That parable just came to my mind. The way of life is not the way of majority. Even the Lord Jesus Christ made us to see that. Despite all his laboring and everything, he's just 25 out of 100 that will follow him, 75 will still go their own way. Riches of this life take 25. Lack of going deep will take 25. Lack of understanding will take 25. May we enter through the narrow door in the name of Jesus. May we enter through the narrow door. May you and me, may you and me, may we enter through the narrow door. May we enter through the narrow door. Hallelujah. Now so I was saying that the way of life is not the way of majority, is the way of few. Verse 14 says: "Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life. There are few who finds it." Only few finds it. That's what we just emphasized. Now when they got to 15, look at what follows. Few will find life, majority will not find it. So beware of false prophet. Watch out for false teachers. Watch out. Be on your guide. Don't be sumu go. Don't be sumu egbe. Be prayerful. Be watchful. Be careful how you listen to people. Be careful who you follow. Be careful how you follow. Beware of false prophet who come to you in sheep clothing. When you look at them, you thought "Ah! This a wonderful sister, this a baby bro. Ah!" He said "beware". There are wolves who are in sheep clothing. When you look at them what you will see will be sheep. But actually inside them they are ravenous, they have actually come to destroy you. They are wolves. Sheep and wolves don't associate. So because they know that they don't, we are not supposed to associate, they will wear like our color, they will talk like us, they will act like us, they will look like us. They will want us to see that we are together. Be careful. Be careful of satanism in your Christian faith. Be careful of men who are satanic in their Christian faith. Be careful about people who don't make the will of God their priority. When you notice such people be careful with them. No matter what they call themselves be careful. Whether he's a brother Bible-carrying-one, or I'm a Nigerian. Be careful with such people. Be on your guide. Be on your guide. Be very, very careful. Be on your guide about such people. The way of false prophet. False prophet who come to you in sheep clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruit. Are you seeing it? That is what James is saying. You will know them by their fruit. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree, please note the word of our Lord Jesus Christ, a good tree cannot, not will not. Not will not. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Not everyone who says to me "Lord, Lord" will enter. Are you seeing it? Are you seeing it now? So it is the fruit people bear in their life that make you to know whether they are faith. That's what James is saying. By their fruits you will know them. If their life is controversial that you cannot see the will of God done. If their life is questionable. If their life is suspicious. If their life is back-up. If their life is not dependable. If their life is not trustworthy. They are not in faith. Don't let anybody deceive you. They are not in the faith. If they don't say what they mean, they don't mean what they say. They don't do everything to do according to their word. They just talk, talk, talk, talk. Vain talker. But will never put their hand to bring those word to pass like their Father. They don't watch over their word to perform it. They cannot be they cannot be people who have this faith, this biblical faith. Biblical faith is a faith that is placed in faith in works, in fruit, fruit, fruit. The fruit of doing God's will. There is there's fruit that will be emanating from our life. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Biblical concept of faith. Biblical concept of faith. So in your home, what kind of fruit is your husband seeing in you? Yes, you are the choir director. But what kind of fruit? When your husband want to eat something in your life, the kind of fruit they eat in your life. Is it the one that make them joyful, that make them well or contrary to Jesus? Contrary to Jesus. The kind of fruit in your own life is something very different. The Bible said Jesus went about doing good. Goodness, goodness, faithfulness. We are not faithful, you are not trustworthy. You are not bearing the fruit of the spirit. Is the spirit of God inside you? It's not about going to church, it's not about I'm in choir, it's not about I am the leader of the church, not about I'm a pastor, I'm a bishop, I'm a... forget all this stupid silly things, all this title craziness that is in town today. It's not about titles for goodness sake. It's about a life, it's about the fruit. I was reading the newspaper yesterday. You can go and check yesterday's Punch. A Reverend Father in Delta State Catholic Diocese was suspended. Why was he suspended? Why was he suspended? He went to do a secret marriage in Dallas in the US. If you know you want to marry, and they force you to be a Reverend Father? Must you be father? Nobody forced you. There's nothing wrong. If a man cannot hold himself, let him marry. That's the word of God. So if you say no, you want to be father, you want to be eating the cake of father says you should not be married and have children. You still want to be also be eating the cake of no father. I don't know. Look, that is one thing the Lord, the Lord hates. I am just trying to make you to see look, because you are neither hot nor cold, because you are lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth. If you want to be a Christian, be a Christian. If you don't want to be, please be on your own. Don't be pretentious and be doing some impression and be no. God is not looking for people that are pretentious. Don't be pretentious with your life. Don't be pretentious with your life. Don't be pretentious. Let people love you for who you are. Than to love you for who you are not. Be who you are. Don't be pretentious. Be real. Many people are not real today. And that is why the Christianity I have not been to other nations of the world, so I'm talking about Nigeria. I know it's a global thing, but I like making reference to Nigeria because that is where I am. The people are so pretentious. People look like "Ah!" Like I was telling somebody the kind of zeal that we put into being in church every Sunday morning. "Ah! I must be in church! Ah! Any how, today is Sunday, I must be in church!" If you put that kind of zeal into living correctly, there will be revival in Nigeria. There is so much zeal to be in church than to live as Christian. May the Lord deliver us. That is the matter that faith, according to Apostle James, is showing us by the power of the Holy Spirit. Truly Jesus want to point something very crucial to us that we should be careful not to be satanic. Don't be satanic. How do you know satanic people? By their fruit. We are not saved by good works. We are saved for good works. Let me close on this scripture in Isaiah chapter 61. I want to show you something about Jesus. That is where we will close today. We will close with that scripture today. That's where we close. Let's quickly go to that place as we round up this segment. Let's quickly see that scripture. Isaiah chapter 61. Isaiah chapter 61. Look at what the Lord Jesus said. This "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor. They may be called the trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that God may be glorified." Have you seen that? Do you see the fruit that the life of Jesus Christ is bearing? Jesus Christ came to heal the brokenhearted. But your own life is breaking people's heart. Jesus Christ came to heal people who are broken in heart. But the kind of fruit that you are bearing, you have broken the heart of your husband. You have broken the heart of your wife. You have broken the heart of your colleague. You have broken the heart of your neighbor. You have broken the heart of your friend. You have broken the heart of the brethren. And you are there saying that you are faith. Jesus Christ came to heal the brokenhearted. Not to break the heart of people. People around you, people around you, what happens to their heart by their fellowship with you? By their interaction with you? Do you break their heart? By their interaction with you, what do you do to their heart? What do you do to their heart? What do you do to their heart? Go and read that scripture. To comfort those that mourn. Your own life makes them to mourn. To give them oil of joy for sorrow. You you you make people sorrowful. Go and check your life. That is the matter that faith, according to Apostle James, eh, is showing us by the power of the Holy Spirit. The only reason why Jesus came to point something very crucial to us is that we should be careful not to be satanic. Don't be satanic. How do you know satanic people? By their fruit. We are not saved by good works. We are saved for good works. Let us share the grace together.
