As we gather unto You again this evening, both our brethren who are here physically, our brethren who are joining us online across the globe, Lord our God, we thank You for the privilege of gathering unto You again this evening. And we say Lord, as we gather, may Your name be glorified. May Your church be edified in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, as we share and pray this evening, Lord our God, meet with us. Meet with us where we need You most. Meet with us, oh Lord God, addressing our individual situations in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, we worship You. Lord, we bless Your name. Lord, we lift You high. We say be magnified in our lives, oh God, in the name of Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ. Thank You, eternal Father. Oh, blessed be Your holy name, our God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. We want to begin this evening. I want us to take this worship song. [Speaker 2] Let’s move on this evening as we look into scripture briefly before we go into the section of prayer. It is our last Monday and usually every last Monday is a time to pray. But I just want to share a few things just to help us to pray. To share a few things here just to help us to pray. Okay, so let’s look at a few things in scripture and then we pray. We can take whichever position. You can sit, you can stand, you can kneel. All we want to do is that we want to be sure that we are praying. Now, I want to draw your attention to something in Psalm 60 and then Psalm 62. In Psalm 60, the psalmist said in verse 11, the New King James translation says, "Give us help from trouble: for the help of man is useless." (Psalm 60:11). Give us help from trouble: for the help of man is useless. The King James Version put it this way. It says, "Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man." (Psalm 60:11). Vain is the help of man. The Amplified version says, "O give us help against the adversary, for vain (ineffectual, to no purpose) is the help or salvation of man." (Psalm 60:11). We will be praying alongside this scripture. But I want to tie everything together. Let’s look at that scripture vis-a-vis Psalm 62. Psalm 62, I will take the reading from verse 1. It says, "Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall never be moved." (Psalm 62:1-2). "How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, like a leaning wall and a tottering fence. They only consult to cast him down from his high position; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly." (Psalm 62:3-4). "My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him." (Psalm 62:5). I am showing you Psalm 60 where the Bible says, "Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man." And we are taking something again in this place where the Bible is calling our attention to some very serious things again. In Psalm 62, the verse we just read, it says something. It says, "In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, my refuge is in God." (Psalm 62:7). Sorry, verse 5 first. Verse 5, "My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him." (Psalm 62:5). If you look at that reading in the Yoruba translation, it says "Okan mi, iwo sa duro je de Olorun; nitori lati odo re wa ni ireti mi." (Psalm 62:5). "Okan mi, iwo sa duro je, duro je." No agitation, no panicking. "Kosi eru, kosi ojo," no panicking. "Duro je," wait patiently for the Lord. Why? It says "nitori lati odo re wa" because from Him, from Him alone, "lati odo re wa ni ireti mi" from Him alone is my expectation. We will be praying around all of these things. If you move on to verse 6, it says, "He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved." (Psalm 62:6). "Oluwa ni apata ati igbala mi; ohun ni odi mi; emi ki yio se kini?" I will not be moved, I cannot fall. In verse 7, it says, "In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, my God, my refuge is in God." (Psalm 62:7). So when it gets to verse 8, what did the Bible say? This is what the Bible is saying there. What did the Bible say? "Trust in Him." (Psalm 62:8). How many times? How many times? "Trust in Him at all times, you people." (Psalm 62:8). Why at all times? Why all times? It is our refuge, it is our salvation. But why did the Bible say at all times? Number one, yes, it is our refuge. At all times because He is our salvation, He is our rock, He is our hope. So at all times we put our hope in Him. We just see it at all times. But if you look at the matter at all times, I want to call your attention, whether on the mountain or in the valley, whether when it is calm or there is trouble, there is no time that God cannot deliver. There is no situation that is above God. There is nothing that God cannot deliver from. God can deliver from everything at all times. I give you this testimony. I was traveling to Akungba one day, driving down to Akungba. I overtook the first trailer. When I overtook the first trailer, hoping to overtake the second one because they were together, but somehow, a vehicle was coming from the other end. So I had to go in between the trailer, but we were ascending a hill. So as I overtook the first one, I was in between the two trailers. The trailer in front suddenly stopped. I was descending back. The trailer at the back was honking. I was in between the two trailers. Ta! Of course, I didn’t know what to do. I could not go out because vehicles were passing. I could not reverse back because there is a trailer in my back. And the one in front was coming. I was looking at the trailer in front, I was descending and I just said God, God, God. Do you know at a point the trailer stopped? The driver was struggling with the trailer, struggling to make it stop. But when it got to a point, it just stopped. What if it did not stop? I am showing you where you cannot even do anything to help yourself. In that situation, you cannot deliver yourself. What the Bible says is that we should trust the Lord at all times because there is no time, there is no situation, that God cannot deliver His own from. There is nothing, there is no situation. I give you a biblical example. God told Saul to wait till Samuel comes. "Duro di igba ti Samuel yio ma de." That was the instruction to him. He was waiting. He was waiting. But the enemies were advancing. They were moving, they were moving. They were coming close. And the instruction to him was that they must not fight the battle until Samuel comes to make the sacrifice to God. When the enemy got very close, the Bible says even the Israelites were scattered. And yet Samuel is yet to come. "Ni igba ti o wa di pe awon ota yen ti sunmo won dada tan, gbogbo awon ogun ati awon ara ilu kan, inu ipaya ati ijaya onikaluku ti wa bi sasi." God’s word to Saul was that they must not begin the fight with the enemy until Samuel comes to make that sacrifice. It got to a point that Saul said God can no more be trusted. Are you understanding this? The Bible says, "Trust in the Lord at all times." (Psalm 62:8). When it got to that point, Saul started thinking about God’s word. If God’s word is true, why is Samuel not here yet? The enemies are scattered. They will kill me. I will die. What did he do? The Bible says he went ahead and he performed the sacrifice. Immediately he finished the sacrifice, Samuel arrived. "Bo se pari e bayen, Samuel de." Ah! What have you done? The people were scattering from me. You did not arrive. He now gave a statement. "So I forced myself." And Samuel said, "You have done foolishly." (1 Samuel 13:13). But for him, why couldn’t Saul wait for God? He felt in this type of situation, God cannot save. But in the Psalm, that Psalm 62, it is saying, "Trust in the Lord at all times." (Psalm 62:8). It is so crucial for us to understand that anybody who wants to see God’s salvation must know how to wait for the Lord at all times. You must learn it. You must learn how to trust, how to wait, how to understand that God is my rock, God is my salvation. "Ohun ni apata mi, ohun ni igbala mi." No, no, I cannot be moved. Do you know that God rewards such things? If you look at Hebrews chapter 10. Hebrews 10 from verse 35. Hebrews 10, are you there? Look at what the Bible says in verse 35. "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward." (Hebrews 10:35). What did the Bible say we should not do? "Cast not away therefore your confidence." Which has what? "Great recompence of reward." God rewards those who put their confidence in Him not only in good times, not only when things seem so okay, even in the bad times. That’s the truth about it. At what time do men throw away their confidence? Is it in the good time or in the bad times? In the bad times. It is in the bad times that men throw away their confidence. And the Bible is warning us, "Don’t throw away your confidence. It has a great recompense of reward." God rewards confidence. So as we will be praying this evening, I am giving you a background to prayer, an understanding of what we want to pray about. Trust in the Lord at all times. Trust in Him at all times, you people. What’s the next thing that follows that word in Psalm 62 verse 8? Trust in Him at all times, you people. What’s the next thing? "Pour out your heart." (Psalm 62:8). [Speaker 2 and Audience] "Pour out your heart." (Psalm 62:8). [Speaker 2] "Pour out your heart." Pour it out to Him. Pour out your heart to the Lord. We are not coming here to play, we are obeying scriptures. Our coming here to pray this evening, we are obeying. Pour out your heart. Pour out your heart. Pour it out to Him. "Tu okan yin jade niwaju re." What does it mean to pour? Pour out your heart. Your cares, your concern, your worries, your fears, your troubles. Pour it out before Him. "E tu okan yin jade." Pour out those things that you are burying, those things that you are putting there. Pour it out to Him. Please, is this thing we are saying here, is it different from what Jesus said when He said, "Men ought always to pray?" (Luke 18:1). What did Jesus say? He said, "Men ought always to pray and not to faint." (Luke 18:1). What are we saying here? He says, "Trust in the Lord, not only in the good time. No, trust in the Lord at all times." We have tendency to trust God when things seem okay and good. But the kind of trust of men who know God to be their salvation and their rock is a trust that is there at all times. There is no time they throw away their confidence. Why? He is a rock and a salvation and we cannot be moved. "Oun ni apata wa ati igbala wa ti o le ja ni kule." He cannot fail. David said, "I cannot be moved." And I can inform you something that is really thrilling me. Do you know something about God that if it were not so, God will tell you? What did He tell them? He said, "In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so," what would He do? "I would have told you." (John 14:2). He doesn’t deceive people. He doesn't cajole people. God doesn’t just make you to feel happy. You can trust God. And that is what He was telling Saul. You can trust Me. You should have trusted that nothing will happen. That is the confidence God is looking for in the place of prayer. Confidence that God cannot let me down. That is the confidence that makes prayer to be answered. Not when you are praying, "Lord, er, God, Lord, Lord, er, maybe God will answer me." No! When you come to the place of prayer, God is expecting what? Confidence. "Iwo ni apata mi, iwo igbala mi. It is unto You that I pour my heart. My expectation is from You." You will not fail. I will illustrate with this thing and then we will begin to pray. Now, there was this thing that happened many years ago when God was teaching me about this matter of confidence, trust in the Lord. Something happened. I was taking, if you are familiar with Lagos, between Ketu and Ojota. Between Ketu and Ojota, it is just a straight road like that. If I had to use Akure, between FUTA North Gate and Oba-Ile, it is just a straight road like that. You are going on a straight way, that’s how it is. You go like that straight until you get to Ojota. When I joined the bus at Ketu, around Ojota, Ojota would be like Chicken Republic, the road block. You understand? Someone entered. He sat beside me. So he told me that he is going to Onipan. Onipan is somewhere in between after that Ojota he entered. Onipan is something like Oja Oba, North Gate. He joined me, we met at Road Block. He wants to drop at Oja. He doesn’t know that place. So he now spoke to me that, "Please, do you know Onipan bus stop?" I said of course, I said very well, I said I know Onipan bus stop. He said, "Please, when the bus gets there, let me know." I now told the person, "Don’t worry." I just said, "Don’t worry." So we sat together. Immediately I said, "Don’t worry." Immediately I made that statement, I began to look at because I was by the window. I began to look at you know, molue in Lagos, fifty-five sitting, eighty-five standing. You will not be able to even see far. So I was bringing my head out through the window to be sure that we don’t go beyond Onipan because I’m familiar with Onipan. The bus was going, so I was trying to see Onipan. So the person just sat down. So I was now making all the effort. By the time we got to Onipan, I said, "Mister man, this is Onipan. You can come down now." Ah, thank you sir. I said, "No problem." He alighted from the vehicle, he left. So I continued to Ojota, from there to Surulere, from there to Ajegunle and then I got home. That night, the Lord called my attention. God called me and said, "Come here. What did you say to that man back then?" I said, "What did I say? I told him not to worry." He said, "When you said don’t worry, what did you mean?" I said, "When I said don’t worry, I meant that I will do everything for him not to miss where he is going." So the Lord called my attention. He said, "Okay." He said, "When I say don’t worry about anything, what do I mean?" The Lord now asked me, He said, "Son, when I said be anxious for nothing (Philippians 4:6), what do I mean?" Do you know like a light, it just dawned on me that oh, everything we tell God, God does something about it. He said, "Just tell Me the thing. Don’t worry, just tell Me." What does that mean? It means I will do something about it. Be anxious for nothing, but tell Me. So what God meant by that is if you have told Me, I will do something about it. That is the confidence with which we come to the place of prayer. As we pray this evening, we want to pray on just about four or five prayer points and then some other general points. Look at what the Bible says in verse 8. He says, "Trust in the Lord at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us." (Psalm 62:8). God is a refuge for us. He is a strong refuge for us. "Olorun abo fun wa." (Psalm 62:8). That is the truth about it. He is a refuge for us. And then look at how it concludes the four remaining verses. No, we will skip verse 10, we don't really need that so much. It says verse 9, "Surely men of low degree are a vapor, men of high degree are a lie." (Psalm 62:9). What is a vapor? "Ason ni awon omo eniyan." (Psalm 62:9). Men of high degree, they are a mirage. If they are weighed on scale together, they are lighter than vapor. Are you following the Bible? "Nitoo ason ni awon omo eniyan, ekesi ni awon oloye." (Psalm 62:9). When you put the two of them together, they are lighter than vapor. What is God trying to make you understand? "Cursed is the man who trusts in man." (Jeremiah 17:5). "Egbe ni fun eniti o fi eniyan se igbekele." Believe God for what God has said. I have come to a point that I don't even trust myself. I trust the Lord. Believe God for what God has said. Why must you trust the Lord? Look at what the Bible says in verse 11. "God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: That power belongs to God." (Psalm 62:11). Who owns power? God. Power belongs to God. "Olorun ti soro l’ekan, l’arin keji ni mo gbo, eyi wipe ti Olorun ni agbara." Power belongs to God. And look at the next thing that follows, verse 12. "Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy." (Psalm 62:12). Power and mercy belong to who? God. Brethren, you want to begin to pray. Power and mercy. You need to understand why the Bible is now saying trust in God alone. Power is only with God. Mercy is also His own. If God don't have mercy on you, nobody can have mercy on you. Mercy belongs to God. And the Bible says, no king is delivered by the multitude of his chariot. A mighty man is not saved by his strength, but we hope in Your mercy. Another part of the scripture says it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. (Romans 9:16). All things are in God’s hand. They are reflecting the same thing. They have come to see that mercy and power, except it is released at some point, our effort goes nowhere. Talk about wealth, it is the Lord that gives power to make wealth. So until God gives power to make wealth, man cannot get wealth. Talk about salvation, as many as believe in Him, He will give them power to become. Power belongs to God. So who is worth trusting Him? So you want to begin our prayer from that Psalm that we read. Psalm 60 verse 11. "Give us help from trouble: for the help of man is useless." Give us help from trouble. For vain is the help of man. Vain is the help of man. Vain is the help of man. You want to talk to God. Having seen that power belongs to God, mercy belongs to God. He says, "Trust in the Lord at all times. Pour out your heart to Him." We want to begin our prayer from there. Can you come before God this evening? "Fun wa ni iranlowo ninu iponju nitori wipe ason ni iranlowo eniyan." You want to tell God, "Lord God Almighty, give me help from trouble." I don't know where the challenge, where the trouble is. I don't know where the challenge is. Is it financial? Is it spiritual? Is it academic? Is it marital? Is it family? Whatsoever it is, you want to talk to God and say, "God Almighty, give me help from trouble. Lord, give me help in this matter. Lord, release to me power and mercy. Power to overcome, mercy to get through." "Lord, power and mercy belong to You. Oluwa sanu fun mi, Oluwa ro mi ni agbara." Lord, let Your mercy undertake for me. Lord, empower me afresh. Lord God Almighty, give me strength against my adversity. Give me strength against that which troubles me. Give me victory, oh Lord, over my challenge. Lord, let Your power avail for me. Lord, empower me, grant me strength above my trouble. Let Your mercy avail for me. In this matter, in that matter, Lord God Almighty, unto You, oh God, I lift up my soul. Unto You, oh Lord, for Thou art my expectation. Lord, give me help from trouble. For vain is the help of man. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Lord God Almighty. Thank You, Father. Blessed be Your name, oh God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. I want us to see something in Psalm 25. Psalm 25 from verse 1. "Unto Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in Thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me." (Psalm 25:1-2). It says, "Yea, let none that wait on Thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause." (Psalm 25:3). Two things here that is our focus. "Lord, unto You I lift up my soul. Let me not be ashamed. Let them not be ashamed that wait on You." To You belong power, to You belong mercy. In the Yoruba translation, it says, "Oluwa, iwo ni mo gbe okan mi si oke si, Olorun mi, emi gbekele o, ma se je ki oju o ti mi. Oluwa looto, ma se je ki oju ko ti enikeni ti o duro ti o." Lord God Almighty, power belongs to You, mercy belongs to You. Therefore Lord, unto You I lift up my soul. Let me not be ashamed. Let them not be ashamed that wait for You. Let them be ashamed who are treacherous. Those who transgress Your law, let them be ashamed. Oh God, let those who don't fear You, let them be ashamed. Oh Lord, but let not those that wait on You be ashamed. "Oluwa, okan mi duro de o. My soul waits on You, my soul waits for You. Let me not be ashamed." Lord, let them not be ashamed that wait for You in the name of Jesus. Lord, cause those that wait for You, experience Your power and Your mercy in their lives. Lord, those who wait for You, those who trust in You, let them see, oh God, evidence of Your power. Evidence of Your mercy. Let there be an evidence. Oh, brethren pray, ask the Lord that God, evidence of Your power, evidence of Your mercy, let it be obvious upon my life. Let it be obvious upon my situation. Let them be obvious upon my life. Lord, upon my life, upon my work with You, upon my marriage, upon my home, upon my children, upon my career, upon my job, upon the ministry, upon my work, oh God, upon Your purpose for my life. Lord God Almighty, evidence of Your power. Evidence of Your mercy. Lord, let there be an evidence. Oh, brethren pray, pray, ask the Lord that God, evidence of Your power, evidence of Your mercy in my life, let it be obvious upon my life. Lord, let them be an evidence. Evidence of Your power, evidence of Your mercy. Speak for my situation, avail for me. Avail for me. Avail for me. Avail for me. [Praying in the Spirit/Tongues] In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. We are still going to pray in this dimension. Look at that scripture, Psalm 25. It said something. It says, "Yea, let none that wait for You be ashamed: let them be ashamed who transgress without cause." (Psalm 25:3). If you look at it, it says let no one who trusts in You will ever be disgraced. But disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Let no one whose hope is in You ever be put to shame. But they will be put to shame who are treacherous. You know, let me give you a good example so you understand the direction of this prayer. Do you know that for instance, when the Bible says that I will build my church, the gates of hell will not prevail. It means if the gates of hell prevail, the church will not go forward. Is that not? The gate of hell is transgressing the laws of God. If they prevail, then the church cannot prevail. The church cannot be built. Now, what I am saying is that adversity that we face in different dimension is because there are those who are transgressing. For example, when I work and I don't receive salary, I don't get salary for a whole year. Is it not some people who are eating the money? When you talk about kidnappers, you talk about witches and wizards, people who do evil. It is because they prosper that darkness seems to be working. But if they become ashamed, darkness will end. Do you get that? If the kidnappers, if shame begins to meet them, if God begins to open their secrets, then kidnapping will go. So we want to pray. You want to pray that concerning my life, concerning this nation, Lord God Almighty, let them be ashamed that transgress without cause. Let them be ashamed. If some people are not put to shame, light cannot come. If some people are not put to shame, the road will not open. There are adversaries that must be ashamed. There are the wicked, there are individuals, there are situations, there are conspiracies. The Bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. (Ephesians 6:12). Lord, principalities and powers over my life, let them be ashamed. Oh God, adversaries over my life, let them be ashamed. Over this nation Nigeria, Lord, those who call themselves leaders or politicians who are eating this nation up, who don't want other people to have peace, Lord please, let shame meet them. Let them be ashamed that transgress without cause. Let them be ashamed over my life. Let them be ashamed over my career, over Your purpose for my life, over my children, oh Lord my God, over my future, over my finances, oh Lord, over my progress. Let them be ashamed that transgress without cause. Lord, let them be ashamed. Let them be ashamed that transgress without cause over my life, over my situation, over this nation Nigeria. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Thank You, Father. In the name of Jesus Christ. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. We are still going to pray. But the way it came to me, the way it came to me is that with the way things are going in this land, the way things are going in Nigeria, it doesn’t matter what hell has done or they are doing. What I am insisting upon is that the token of God’s power and His mercy will speak in my situation. I want you to pray. The way it seems as if everything wants to scatter, the high cost of living, everything is just scattered. I say concerning my own that the power of God and the mercy of God will meet with me. The power of God and the mercy of God will be my portion because power belongs to God. Because mercy also God owns it. Because power and mercy belong to God. I am speaking concerning my case in this nation. I am writing concerning my situation. I am prophesying concerning my case. That Lord God Almighty, I will not be stranded, I will not be disgraced, I will not be ashamed. They will be disgraced, they will be ashamed, they will be confounded that transgress the law of God. But as for me, I will not be ashamed, I will not be disgraced, I will not be stranded. I will not have a reason to regret. In the name of Jesus. The power of God will find me, the mercy of God will be mine. The power of God, the mercy of God, speak in my situation. Speak for my situation. Avail for me. Avail for me. [Music] Jesus shall reign, Jesus shall reign all over the earth. Jesus shall reign in my every situation. Jesus shall reign. Jesus shall reign. Jesus shall reign all over the earth. You have said Lord that those who wait on You will not be ashamed. It is only those who transgress without cause that will have their portion in shame. We thank You for this assurance again. We are grateful to You Lord. Accept our thanks in Jesus’ name. As we have spoken to Your ears this evening, let Your mighty hand bring to come to pass in the name of Jesus Christ. Let Your power and Your grace be made evident in our lives in the name of Jesus Christ. No matter what the situation of the world is saying, in spite of the circumstances in the nation Nigeria, and in spite of the things that hell has put together, Father, we decree by the power of Your word that we shall not be put to shame. But Your glory, Your power and Your mercy shall be made evident in our lives, in our homes, in our ministry, in everything that concerns us in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank You everlasting Father. We honor and adore Your name. Thank You for Your son You have used again tonight. We are asking that Lord You will refill him. You will cause him to overflow.
