His Cross Part 2

[Music] [Speaker 1] Heavenly Father, we worship you. Lord, we thank you, we appreciate you. We thank you, we thank you, we thank you. Cause us to always think of your goodness. Cause us to always remember the goodness of the Lord and all that you have done for us. So that our very soul, our being, our life, oh Lord, will sing and shout Hallelujah. We honor, we adore you in the mighty name of Jesus. Lord, thank you for bringing us here again this evening to bless us, because in your presence there is fullness of joy, and at your right hand there are pleasures forever. Thank you because you have brought us here to bless us, to help us, to do only what God can do in the life of a man. Lord, we open our lives unto you this day. We ask Father, take your place in Jesus' name. Bless us, continue with your work. Ma ba ise lo ninu aye wa. Ma je ki ohun kohun ko da o duro ni oruko Jesu. [Yoruba: Continue your work in our lives. Don't let anything stop it in the name of Jesus.] In the life of every one of us, physically and those online. Lord, even those that will later listen to this message at any point in time, let the power and the spirit of God, oh Lord, work in us and work through us. The good pleasure of God's will in the mighty name of Jesus. Holy Spirit, we depend on you, the great teacher. You said you will reveal all truth unto us. Reveal unto us. Let there be inspiration, let there be revelation. Open our eyes. We pray our mind will not be veiled in the mighty name of Jesus. But rather our life will be transformed. Our eyes will see Jesus. Oh Lord, we will hear the inaudible. We will see the invisible. Oh Lord, we will not return back the same in the mighty name of Jesus. Thank you, faithful God. In Jesus' name we pray. We thank God for another time in God's presence, giving us the opportunity again to gather this evening for discipleship class. By the grace of God, how many of us were here last week? Were you here? I don't know if there's any of us that have anything to share from what God loaded us with last week. What God blessed you with for the benefit of those who were not here. Is there any recap? Is there anything you want from your take-home? Juwon, come up. [Speaker 2] So a lot of things were said last week and there were so many take-homes. But one of the things that stood out for me so much was the need to beg God for the Holy Spirit to reveal things to come, like he did for Jesus Christ, he did for Peter. I read Peter also this morning, that is 2 Peter, and I also saw where he was also making mention that he also was to be delivered. So I noticed that one of the things that helps us to pass that time, to come out successful in times of temptation and trials is when the Lord has revealed those things to us beforehand. And that also caused me to reflect on my life also. There are some times that I've known some things beforehand that they happened, and I also pray that God will just continue to reveal more things to me. [Speaker 1] Praise the Lord. Do we have any other person that has something to share with the brethren from the revelation God gave you last week, from the blessing, from those of us who were here last week? Do we have any other person? Praise the Lord. So we can proceed. Praise the Lord. From what Juwon said, that is very, very important. That is one of the things that stood out in the life of the heroes of faith. What the victory, the testimonies we have about them today, they were not just what they heard from somewhere. They were personal experiences. They walked so much with God that everything about their life was by revelation, by inspiration. And they were so much with God that what they know and what we read about them is not just what they heard from one church somewhere, even the church of God in different places. They were having first-hand experience with the Lord, first-hand experience with the Spirit of God. And that strengthened them. So when fake things come their way, they quickly detect it. It was so difficult for those people that had such experience to be derailed, to be deceived by the evil men. I want us to also know that it is not only in our days that we have false brethren. It has been. If Jesus was to have a false disciple in his team, you know that it has been. So that is a very potent thing we should call upon God. We should always ask the Lord, please let me have a revelational knowledge of you. Reveal yourself to me in everything, in everything. That those ones, when they were about to be even poured out, when their life was about to end, they knew about it. They were prepared for it. The Lord will take us there in Jesus' name. So this evening we continue. Last Monday, by the grace of God, we started a series, "His Cross." That was what we started last Monday. Today we want to continue from where we stopped. And remember last Monday, though the topic is "The Cross," Daddy took time to tell us about what we saw in Titus 1:16. He talked about knowing the power of God but denying having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof. And last week he took time to make us see what it means to have a form of godliness through the life of the Pharisees and the Sadducees, religious leaders. And we saw that in Matthew 23, going through the whole chapter from 1 to 28. We saw their outward look, outward Christianity. They just looked to be Christian. They just want things to be known outward. People seeing them here and there. And Jesus had to warn his disciples and everyone that cared to listen to him in those days that be careful of this lifestyle. They are blind guides. He talked a lot about them that some of them he will even come and teach the word of God, but they don't practice it. They will go to miles to win converts and make them double, twice sons and daughters of hell. Their life was nothing compared to what they preached. They were exact opposite to the word of God and the temple and the name of God they professed to know. May that not be our life in Jesus' name. So that was what it means to have a form of godliness. A form of godliness. And a lot of other things. By the grace of God, those of us that were not here, you can take advantage of that message on our website. When you get there, the message is already there immediately after each of the programs we have the message. So by the grace of God, we want to move forward this evening. We want to talk about "Denying the Power Thereof." Having a form of godliness. What does it mean to say you have a form of godliness but you deny the power? We know we've seen what it means to have a form of godliness, having a life that looks as if you are on the Lord's side but you are not. Having a form of godliness, looking as if you are a Christian. We see you to be, oh, child of God. But in your character, in your conversation, you are an opposite in opposite direction to the life of Christ. May that not be our portion in Jesus' name. So denying the power, denying the power. By the grace of God, we want to take example from the Corinthians church in looking at this. Last week we saw Matthew, the Pharisees. But we want to see these ones that are believers. Now you know the Corinthian church were believers. The gospel came to them. They accepted the gospel. So let's quickly go to 1 Corinthians chapter 1. 1 Corinthians chapter 1. A lot about how this was obvious in the life of the Corinthian church. If you look at it, it extends chapter 1, we go to 2, 3. But we'll just make reference, we'll talk it in general and make reference to one or two things. In 1 Corinthians chapter 1, I want to start from verse 4. 1 Corinthians 1:4-13: "I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gift he has given you, now that you belong to Christ. Through him God has enriched your church in many ways—with all of your eloquent words and all of your knowledge. This confirms that what I told you about Christ is true. Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." Can you see that? What is the commendation here? This church has gifts, the gracious gift. And this means it is not just ordinary gift. I mean, God blessed them with different kinds of gifts. They were enriched in many ways. Knowledge, eloquence of word, grace, they have spiritual gift. This was a plus to them. That was a plus. This church, they were enriched in utterance, knowledge, in grace. They have spiritual gift. He said he'll keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. But there is something about this church that in spite of all this grace upon their life, come and see what the Bible talks what we see concerning some other things that happen in their midst. "I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. For some members of Chloe’s household have told me about your quarrels, my dear brothers and sisters. Some of you are saying, 'I am a follower of Paul.' Others are saying, 'I follow Apollos,' or 'I follow Peter,' or 'I follow only Christ.' Has Christ been divided into factions? Was I, Paul, crucified for you? Were any of you baptized in the name of Paul? Of course not!" And he went on and on. We'll still be making allusion to some of this. I want to stop there. From that passage, we are talking about the cross, "His Cross," the cross of Christ. And we want to see how even as believers, if you are not careful, with all the grace and gift of God upon your life, you may still be denying the power. And what is that power that this church denied? What is the power they denied? They denied the power, the cross of Jesus. Paul mentioned here that he did nothing but his only gospel is at Christ being crucified. His only gospel is nothing but about Christ only. When it comes to us preaching any other gospel, just like what it happened among the ministers in those days. Some of them began another gospel, another gospel, creating messages from human wisdom. Though they were believers. We are prone to fall into such kind of life. Bringing out messages that is purely out of our senses. Despising what is the gospel himself. Do you know many a times we think God is no respecter of persons. Everything about the gospel is the cross of Jesus. It is in this cross that we have our redemption, we have our sanctification, our adoption, our inheritance, our blessings. We have life to come. Everything is in this gospel. And that is what Christ has presented to every one of us to declare. When I come with human wisdom to give another person another message, it will have to be my own power that will work it out because no matter how you color you put color and put the name of God, the power of God will not be made available if it is contrary to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. That's the reason why we see what we are seeing today. The Lord will help us in Jesus' name. That is the reason. That is the reason why we see what we are seeing today. So the focus of Christianity is the preaching of the cross of Jesus. We are talking about his cross. That is just and what is the cross of Jesus? The gospel. Christ came, he lived, he died, he laid down his life for you and I. And as many that believe in him and follow will be saved. Nothing more. And he has given us template, the truth which is the word of God to be preached. It may not make sense. The gospel does not make sense. We saw that in Corinthians in chapter 1 when he was talking about that. That even this the gospel is foolishness to those who perish. To the Jews they were looking for that it is the Gentiles that seek signs. To the Jews this is not the way, it won't make sense. And with that, Bible say to everyone who believe, the gospel is the power of God. So when we have division, when we have anywhere, it could even be the problem of denominational we have all around us. Too bad what we have in our society today. And it looks as if the name of God has no power. The name of God has power. But we have left the cross, the gospel of the cross. What we gather in many places to teach now is denominationalism. We teach our doctrine. Thank God for the experience God has given to you. God might have healed you up by giving you water. God did not limit his healing to water. Now I come up with that and say that is the only way. By the time I want to cage God into that my limited experience, I won't see the power of God. And it will look as if this name of God is not doing anything. God has put down the ways by which his word and his power will be made manifest. And that is nothing but by the cross, the finished work of Calvary. Praise the Lord. The grace, the gift that all these people have, they were commended for there for that. But however, because they did not make the Lord only their message. What did we see happen among them? Division. And for this, they left the main thing and began to specialize in other things. So to those who esteem the cross of Jesus, that is the gospel of Christ Jesus, the power and the wisdom of God will be made available to them. Because that is the only superior wisdom and power that God has put in place for the salvation of the world. So when we come with any other wisdom, the power of God will not back you up. And that is the reason why we have many Christian churches, many ministers of God that will visit herbalist. Some of them are called. I hope you know. Many a time we think they were not called. They were called. But they could not stay within the limit. They could not stay where the gospel of God is. The gospel, the work of God, how it is going, is to them, it's not fast. Or many a times they could not also bury their head in learning and seeking God. What it takes, staying in God's presence to draw power. When I was talking about the apostles, the heroes of old, and they were working, their apron healing the sick. These people did not consult any juju. They stayed in God's presence. They paid the price. Price of staying in God's presence, giving what it takes in prayer, giving what it takes in studying, giving what it takes in meditating, turning away, closing their eyes to every jolly jolly things around, not allowing those things to distract them from the Lord. Why would they not be moving and power dropping from their life? There is nothing too special about them aside that they paid the price. They stayed where God asked them to stay. Will you and I do the same? So when this our brethren, Bible talks talk about many of them that their belly now is their what? What they seek now is money. We are not ready to give what it takes. We look for alternative. We bring in our own idea. No longer the cross of Jesus. And definitely, they will deny the power. The power of God will not be at work to do only what God can do in their lives. So this is a lesson for us. What are you doing with this same faith that saved you? I hope you know that it is by the way you believe Christ and surrender your life to Jesus Christ, that same faith you have is the same faith that you will use till Jesus comes. I hope you know. If you are expecting anything different, you are being deceived. It is the same way, it is by believing. We come to him by faith and we will continue with him by faith. Do you know that the most difficult thing from human point of view to be done in saving man is salvation? The most difficult thing. You are translated, you were dead, you become alive. Is that a small thing? Bible say dead in trespasses, sin, transgression. We were transformed. Not only that, we were slaves. Now you become what? Child. You've become children, sons. He said we walked... let's quickly see that place in Ephesians chapter 2. Ephesians chapter 2 from verse 1: "Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil, the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God's anger, we were subject to wrath, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. It is only by God's grace that you have been saved! For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms." Can you see? From the position of slave, we are enthroned. When you are seated in the heavenly realm, is that not that you are being enthroned? We are enthroned because we are united with Christ. We were initially out of him but now united with him. No wonder the Bible says if he can freely obtain this grace and mercy, said if God will freely give us Jesus, what will he not freely give us with him? This salvation package is the most difficult thing to my own understanding. You can't explain how it happened. When I look at my, I don't know maybe people don't have experience. I have experience. I know where I was coming from. And when I remember what translated, if there is anything when I see myself dancing, I always look back that how did it happen? And that is the cross of Jesus. That is what his crucifixion, his ascension obtained for us. And in that is the power of God we are talking about. So when we deny the power of God, it means we are leaving our faith. The faith that brought us in, the faith that transformed you, that make you a child of God. Now you continue in your everyday life. You are proving to the whole world that faith can't carry me. It can't make me stop sinning. It can't make me pray. That is what it means to deny the power of God. If salvation could come, if your life and your soul could be transformed, there is nothing again that God cannot do about that life. So why are we denying the power? It's because we left that faith. We are depending on our knowledge. We are depending on our wisdom. Too bad that we also have people around us, teachers of the law, that are also pointing us to something different from what we have received. They started teaching us some other things different from the complete gospel of the cross. They began to give us some other method, using different wisdom knowledge, human wisdom, eloquence of word, motivational speaking, an experience or probably an encounter. God has helped some of us to have encounter. That if by that singular encounter, if you just put this somewhere, you can begin a church. Those things are good. That's the reason why we have testimonies. Why you come and share and you give all glory to God. But we must keep telling all the brethren that this is just little of what God can do with the faith that you have received. Just build yourself on this most holy faith. Continue in this most holy faith. When you are confronted with challenges, use that same faith. That same faith that converted you. That same believe, that same believe. Jesus said if your faith is like a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain be moved. Do you know that the faith by the grace of God that brought you to Christ is even more than a mustard seed that you exercise, that God worked in you? Because it's mountain that you will move if it is by a mustard seed. But now, you raise the dead. Somebody that had been dead in complete separated from God. And now, by just say Lord Jesus I believe. Did you use so much faith to believe in him? You just believe the simple word of God. And you commit your heart to God, and the experience began. And that is how our life started. That is how we see ourselves working. Unless if we don't have an experiential walk, the very day you gave your life to Christ. Then brethren I want to challenge you. Go and check it. Go and check it. I say I surrender my what happened on that day? There is an experience you must have. That experience must linger. No matter how little it is. That is that same power. That is that same power you must keep holding to. Even if it is that only faith, that little light God ignited in you, you will walk this life. And at the end of the day, you will not deny God's power. If it is just that little faith that you continue to say Jesus has saved me. I'm a new creature. When somebody comes, when you are faced with situation, when that your inherent or innate behavior or maybe stronghold of sin and you face the thing and front. If the Lord Jesus has saved me, you are one of the things he has given me victory over. I can assure you that thing would have been a thing of the past. You will continue in that victory. But many a times, because of the different doctrines, because of different distractions, because of human sagacity, human knowledge, form of man, we leave the path. And we are expecting God to come. And lo and behold, we don't have that kind of God. Because he's God that will never change his pattern. He's God that he will never change his ways. He's God that respect no person. As long as you do it according as it is being laid down, you will get your own kind of result. But God's kind of result is standard. The Lord will help us in Jesus' name. The gospel, which is the cross, is made known by the Spirit of God. That's another thing. It's made known by what? By the Spirit of God. That is the reason why you can have the knowledge. You can come to Jesus. The Spirit of God did the work when the gospel came to you and you see yourself believing. And you could say Lord Jesus I surrender. There was a power at work, the mercy of God that came through his Spirit. It does not need the wisdom or art of any man. It doesn't need my wisdom. The gospel doesn't need my heart, my eloquence, whether I know book or I don't know book. It doesn't need it. It only needs simply believing and holding onto the word of God. It is to be taught in his word. And that is only what we are called to preach. Christ crucified and not ourselves. We deny the power of God when we now leave that gospel and begin to preach ourselves. Or you begin to preach any other message. That is the only way our message will be delivered with the power of God and with evidence of demonstration of God. So it's a challenge to us. How are you preaching the gospel? We've heard testimony of people coming to Christ just by somebody looking at them. I was opportuned to be many years ago in a crusade where somebody gave a woman gave her life. This woman was deep in occultism, very terrible. I mean people that did evil, I mean evil through the power of darkness. What brought that woman to Christ? She said she was inside a taxi. She was to drop in front of in a hospital in maybe in a town where she was. And this other person beside her in the taxi... I mean a very this woman was very occultic. She said only for when she when she alighted from the taxi, the person that sat beside her alighted too and just called her attention and just smiled at her and said Jesus loves you. She said she had never received such kind of arrow straight into her heart. I was opportuned to hear that testimony. She said she looked at the man that where she was going was more paramount. I think she had a target, she has an assignment spiritual wickedness kind. Just left him but that smile never left her. Jesus loves you. She said that smile, that man's smile, never left her. The man did not say more than that. She said but anywhere, that thing kept ringing. All her power incantation to stop that thing from flowing through her mind and she was not able to. And that was how that thing began to tailor, tailor, follow up, follow her up till she came to Christ. What are we saying? How much of eloquent word did that man preach? Just simply and I want to believe that man was just prompted to say only that. The operation of the Spirit of God. We deny God's power when we depend on our ability and understanding. When we silence the Spirit of God. We are all guilty. That's why we have to go back to God for God and ask God to help us. When the Spirit of God is telling you, tell that person this. How did you analyze it? In this kind of gathering, it will look like an insult. I don't want to be taken for this. I don't want the person to think I'm this. Other times the Holy Spirit will drop one thing or the other. And we'll just a way of dropping it. It's not because we want to disobey the Holy Spirit. I hope you know it's not that deliberately you want to do that. But because of what? You are depending on your senses at that time. We depend on our senses. Is it proper now? That is our human senses. And by the time we depend on our senses, we stop the Holy Spirit. We silence him. At such time, you deny the power of God to come into operation. Some people that have the gift of faith that God has helped to build on gift of faith, haven't prayed and asked the Lord and they have that understanding. They say when God began with them it was like an embarrassment. But God say listen to me and follow. They may just be walking. I heard somebody say he would just be God would just take him along the place where there are terrible situation, maybe people just shouted oh please help me. The Lord say go and pray. But those who have been able to do what? To know and say this is God and they just obeyed. Lo and behold, some of them will get there and lay hand and nothing will happen and God said continue. And you see now I that's why I didn't want to go. You won't blast in my hand if it what you only think of is your senses. You have obeyed me. What I had wanted to do at that moment I have accomplished it. You are just a vessel. I am the one that asked that you should go. So total dependence of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord help us to submit to the Holy Spirit. When we don't listen and submit and follow his leading, we are denying his power. How many of our brethren are now supposed to die is because of not paying attention to the Holy Spirit. Some brethren will say and I felt like telling them that they should not go on that journey. Why are you telling us now? Just by not obeying that spirit of God. You see what that has caused us? And a lot. So for us not to deny the power of God, we need what? To submit to the Spirit of God. Allow him. Believe him enough to follow his leading. It is not you, it's all about him. When he says go, will you go? By the time he tells you do this, do you do it? God may wake you up and say pray. Say I don't have begin to pray. In that matter, you will see the power of God. But when you refuse, you are denying that power at that moment. The faith of of our hearers will also be ascribed to divine power and not human power. That is when we allow the Holy Spirit. When it is not our own message, our own wisdom. It helps whatsoever is hearing you will be by what? His faith will be ascribed to divine power and not human power. There will be inspiration through revelation of the Holy Spirit when we do not deny God's power. Inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is not just for us to say I'm a Christian. Why is the power of God not coming out of our life? Why are we not seeing signs and wonders again? Why is our life let's even still talk less of signs and wonders even you as a believer? Are you saying you are living a victorious Christian life? Can you categorically come out and say I'm living a victorious Christian life? This besetting thing, this besetting sin, this thing that's holding me down. It's not supposed to be. But the reason why they are not in effect in our life is because we do not allow for inspiration and the revelation of the Holy Spirit. We deny the power of God when we don't submit ourselves to the Spirit of God and say breathe on me. When we take the word of God and we depend on ourselves and say Holy Spirit, I will not call upon the Spirit of God please give me inspiration. Open my eyes to see Jesus. When we have opportunity anywhere, every opportunity we have Lord please, even when you are working, speak to me through your words, this nature. Always waiting on the Lord for inspiration and revelation. The power of God will not be at work in us. God has really given us all that we need for life and godliness. Is that not in our Bible? He has blessed us with all spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Is that not in our Bible? How many of us are experiencing all this? The reason why they are not coming forth is because we don't dig deep. We are not coming to where we will get it. There are sacrifice, there are sacrifices to make. We have to pay the price. Else we won't see the power of God at work in us. May the Lord cause our life not to deny his power in the name of Jesus. What are the things that shows that a life is denying God's power in our daily living? What are the things that makes people to say, and he says he's a believer? God forbid. If he's the believer, I would rather be an unbeliever than being a born-again. You know it is because such life is denying God's power. Such life is not bringing out the life of Jesus. One of the things of this characteristics of a life that is not in character in Christian life that is not showing that is denying the power of God is disobedience. When we also despise fearlessly what constitute the important part of Christian life. When we despise godly things. Some of us we so much we are so much used to the to Christian life, used to the Bible, that we just despise the word of God. Some of us will use the word of God for our own selfish end. Do you know even if the devil want to quote he also use the Bible. Some of us are looking for opportunity to look for what the Bible says to defend our un-Christian way of life. Some of us look for the word of God to defend our rebellion. Some of us look for the word of God to defend our lack of virtue and good works. Some of us look for the word of God to defend our laziness. And with this kind of life, it's not possible for that life to showcase the power of God. So we need to check our lives. What do you do with the power of God that is in your hand? Which is the gospel, which is the word of truth? Why is it not working for you and I? What do you do with the one God has revealed to you? Why is it not transforming your life? This same gospel you take it to several places and some people receive that gospel and today their life is being transformed because they what? They continue in that gospel. They continue in that faith. They are faithful to the word of God. They believe the word of God. They apply the word of God to their life. They apply the word of God in obedience. And you say it's my convert. That person is far off you. He's experiencing God. The person will be even me that I'm standing here if it's just like I'm the Pharisees and Sadducees that only teach and I will not come to God and say God help me. I say this thing, your word say this and I insist on it, I insist on what Christ have done in prayer, in confession of faith, in doing all to overcome my challenge. Other people will be living well with the same gospel I take all around. Those that will take the gospel and live according to that will experience the power of God. While the preacher may be two times son or daughters of hell. No wonder the Bible talks about it said I will say unto them, depart from me, you workers of iniquity. It's not that they were not converted. But they left the faith. They took up another message. They left the message of the cross. They invent for themselves their own wisdom or the message of whatever of the world. Anything different from the message of the cross. Things that will work, that suit them, that suit their hearer. What they gain, the popularity, or whatever success they make with the mess they are carrying around. And at the end of the day, they would have labored in vain. That will not be our portion in Jesus' name. So it's on you and I. Do you want to be among the people that have the form of godliness and deny the power? It's in your court. What will make the power of God to keep working? That is the same thing that brought you from death to life. That is the power that saved you. That power reside in you from the day you were saved. And do you know one thing about God? The Spirit of God is in any when the Lord give us his spirit, his spirit remains with us. You can now pack the spirit to one side and continue your own way. But the day you will say, Holy Spirit where are you? You will say ibi to fi mi si ni mo wa. I'm here. I don't force myself on anybody. [Yoruba: I'm where you left me.] But when you come and say I'm ready, he's also ready. The Lord will help us in Jesus' name. The gospel, which is the cross, is made known by the Spirit of God. That's another thing. It's made known by what? By the Spirit of God. That is the reason why you can have the knowledge. You can come to Jesus. The Spirit of God did the work when the gospel came to you and you see yourself obeying believing. And you could say Lord Jesus I surrender. There was a power at work, the mercy of God that came through his Spirit. It does not need the wisdom or art of any man. It doesn't need my wisdom. The gospel doesn't need my heart, my eloquence. She said but anywhere, that thing kept ringing. All her power incantation to stop that thing from flowing through her mind and she was not able to. And that was how that thing began to tailor, tailor, follow up, follow her up till she came to Christ. What are we saying? How much of eloquent word did that man preach? Just simply and I want to believe that man was just prompted to say only that. The operation of the Spirit of God. We deny God's power when we depend on our ability and understanding. When we silence the Spirit of God. We are all guilty. That's why we have to go back to God for God and ask God to help us. When the Spirit of God is telling you, tell that person this. How did you analyze it? In this kind of gathering, it will look like an insult. I don't want to be taken for this. I don't want the person to think I'm this. Other times the Holy Spirit will drop one thing or the other. And we'll just a way of dropping it. It's not because we want to disobey the Holy Spirit. I hope you know it's not that deliberately you want to do that. But because of what? You are depending on your senses at that time. We depend on our senses. Is it proper now? That is our human senses. And by the time we depend on our senses, we stop the Holy Spirit. We silence him. At such time, you deny the power of God to come into operation. Some people that have the gift of faith that God has helped to build on gift of faith, haven't prayed and asked the Lord and they have that understanding. They say when God began with them it was like an embarrassment. But God say listen to me and follow. They may just be walking. I heard somebody say he would just be God would just take him along the place where there are terrible situation, maybe people just shouted oh please help me. The Lord say go and pray. But those who have been able to do what? To know and say this is God and they just obeyed. Lo and behold, some of them will get there and lay hand and nothing will happen and God said continue. And you see now I that's why I didn't want to go. You won't blast in my hand if it what you only think of is your senses. You have obeyed me. What I had wanted to do at that moment I have accomplished it. You are just a vessel. I am the one that asked that you should go. So total dependence of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord help us to submit to the Holy Spirit. When we don't listen and submit and follow his leading, we are denying his power. How many of our brethren are now supposed to die is because of not paying attention to the Holy Spirit. Some brethren will say and I felt like telling them that they should not go on that journey. Why are you telling us now? Just by not obeying that spirit of God. You see what that has caused us? And a lot. So for us not to deny the power of God, we need what? To submit to the Spirit of God. Are you saying you are living a victorious Christian life? Can you categorically come out and say I'm living a victorious Christian life? This besetting thing, this besetting sin, this thing that's holding me down. It's not supposed to be. But the reason why they are not in effect in our life is because we do not allow for inspiration and the revelation of the Holy Spirit. We deny the power of God when we don't submit ourselves to the Spirit of God and say breathe on me. When we take the word of God and we depend on ourselves and say Holy Spirit, I will not call upon the Spirit of God please give me inspiration. Open my eyes to see Jesus. When we have opportunity anywhere, every opportunity we have Lord please, even when you are working, speak to me through your works, this nature. Always waiting on the Lord for inspiration and revelation. The power of God will not be at work in us. God has really given us all that we need for life and godliness. Is that not in our Bible? He has blessed us with all spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Is that not in our Bible? How many of us are experiencing all this? The reason why they are not coming forth is because we don't dig deep. We are not coming to where we will get it. There are sacrifice, there are sacrifices to make. We have to pay the price. Else we won't see the power of God at work in us. May the Lord cause our life not to deny his power in the name of Jesus. What are the things that shows that a life is denying God's power in our daily living? What are the things that makes people to say, and he says he's a believer? God forbid. If he's the believer, I would rather be an unbeliever than being a born-again. You know it is because such life is denying God's power. Such life is not bringing out the life of Jesus. One of the things of this characteristics of a life that is not in character in Christian life that is not showing that is denying the power of God is disobedience. Some of us we so much we are so much used to the to Christian life, used to the Bible, that we just despise the word of God. Some of us will use the word of God for our own selfish end. Do you know even if the devil want to quote he also use the Bible. Some of us are looking for opportunity to look for what the Bible says to defend our un-Christian way of life. Some of us look for the word of God to defend our rebellion. Some of us look for the word of God to defend our lack of virtue and good works. Some of us look for the word of God to defend our laziness. And with this kind of life, it's not possible for that life to showcase the power of God. So we need to check our lives. What do you do with the power of God that is in your hand? Which is the gospel, which is the word of truth? Why is it not working for you and I? What do you do with the one God has revealed to you? Why is it not transforming your life? This same gospel you take it to several places and some people receive that gospel and today their life is being transformed because they what? They continue in that gospel. They continue in that faith. They are faithful to the word of God. They believe the word of God. They apply the word of God to their life. They apply the word of God in obedience. And you say it's my convert. That person is far off you. He's experiencing God. The person will be even me that I'm standing here if it's just like I'm the Pharisees and Sadducees that only teach and I will not come to God and say God help me. I say this thing, your word say this and I insist on it, I insist on what Christ have done in prayer, in confession of faith, in doing all to overcome my challenge. Other people will be living well with the same gospel I take all around. Those that will take the gospel and live according to that will experience the power of God. While the preacher may be two times son or daughters of hell. No wonder the Bible talks about it said I will say unto them, depart from me, you workers of iniquity. It's not that they were not converted. But they left the faith. They took up another message. They left the message of the cross. They invent for themselves their own wisdom or the message of whatever of the world. Anything different from the message of the cross. Things that will work, that suit them, that suit their hearer. What they gain, the popularity, or whatever success they make with the mess they are carrying around. And at the end of the day, they would have labored in vain. That will not be our portion in Jesus' name. So it's on you and I. Do you want to be among the people that have the form of godliness and deny the power? It's in your court. What will make the power of God to keep working? That is the same thing that brought you from death to life. That is the power that saved you. That power reside in you from the day you were saved. And do you know one thing about God? The Spirit of God is in any when the Lord give us his spirit, his spirit remains with us. You can now pack the spirit to one side and continue your own way. I told them many things while I was with them in this world, so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world." Sanctify them by your truth. Verse 17. Any other version. "Sanctify them by your truth; your word is truth." He also said in verse 16 that he has given them your word. It is still all about the word of God. It is still all about the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believe. That is the power of God. Do you want to be saved eternally? Keep believing the word that you have received. Do you want to do exploit for the Lord? You want your life to show that... do you know that is why Jesus left us here? So that Bible say we have been translated from the kingdom of darkness to light, to show forth the glory of him who has called us out of darkness into light. What is God showing? The glory of who? The glory of God that is able to make a man sinless. The glory of God that can make a man live without sin. The glory of God that can make an addict... what is that name? ... that is addicted in Indian hemp, that is addicted in alcohol, in any other thing to come and say look at me. I had never live my life without drugs but today for this number of years that I've surrendered my life to Jesus, I have been made free, I'm whole. That is what God want to showcase through our lives. He want to showcase that the power of God is there. Do not deny that power by leaving the faith, by leaving the gospel, the truth that sanctifies you. Don't be deceived by what they give us all around today. Hold onto the truth. Hold onto the word of God. That is the only thing that God will back up. The Lord will back his word. When you stand on his word, he will back his word. The Lord will back his word. By the time we begin to put one or two thing into it, it's diluted. It's no longer his word. And that is the reason why we are not seeing result. The word of God is active and powerful. The word of God is sharper than two-edged sword. The word of God searches into the heart. The word of God divide the mind. You know the intent of all things. The word of God is God himself. It is by this same word he made all things. There is nothing that is made that is not from this word. And it is this same word that the Lord is going to do all that he has proposed to do on earth. But as many that will not deny this power by holding to the word of God, the unchanging, the uncompromising word of God. Then you will see the power of God. Then we will see God's power alive. We'll see that great things are being done. Then you will see that, ah, my life is changed. You will see things that are beyond our imagination. The Lord is challenging our heart. Do not deny God's power by your way of life. Do not deny God's power by turning away from the gospel of the cross. It will not be the gospel if it is not the complete gospel. No matter how we color it. It will not be the word of truth if it is not the word of truth. It will not be the word of life, it will not be the power of God if it's contrary to what God has said. Will you stand on the word of God, would you believe it? Even if there are some things about the word of God that you can't comprehend, how does it happen? Bury your head before God and beside God and say God, please help my heart. Help my heart, help my heart, pray it until you see it happen. Don't say, my head cannot carry it. If your head cannot carry it, bring that head and come to God and say God, work it in me. Make this word flesh. Let it turn to become me. In Ephesians chapter 1, verse 22: "And God has put all things under the authority of Christ. And has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church." Are you a church? Are you part of the church? For the benefit of the church. And the church is his body. It is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with him. All things. He has put all things. When they say all things, is anything in exception? All things. And he's the head of all things. He wasn't doing all this for himself. For the benefit of who? You and I, the body of Christ. And that is the power that we are denying. That is the power we are not experiencing. It's not God's fault. It is the fault is with us. Let us return back to our faith. Let's return back to the correct gospel. Let's return back to what the cross of Jesus has offered us. The cross of Jesus is a complete redemption that is in this life and to the life to come. Bible says even he gave us his spirit as a deposit that he owns us and that he's coming for us. This is all that the cross of Jesus has given us. So why is my life denying it? Will you not face that life and tell the life, you are the one that will submit to God? Because the word of God is yea and amen. This is what God says. This is what Jesus has done. My redemption is comprehensive. It's a complete package. The power of God that he's talking about, that is at work in me, is the same power that raised Christ. He talks about it, an incredible great power. Why would my life deny it? Why will you allow your life to deny it? Why will I allow my life to deny it? That is the reason why we have to arise and begin to fight whatsoever that will not make the power of God to come to full manifestation in our life. In us and through us. That's the reason why we are turning our back at our enemy. But honestly, the power of God is with us. We have all of God. Everything that God can do, you can do. As long as you are in him, in his name. When you just believe and act on that same faith, the faith that turn you from a dead man to a living soul, the faith that turn you from darkness to light. That faith will not only move mountain, that faith will move God. When you will live this life, he will turn everything, everything that is not of God in your life, he will turn it out. If you send them packing, if you stand on the word of God, if you stand believing what Christ has done for you on the cross, you will see that, ah, I have been changed. I am arising to take my place, to take my position. The power of God will not be denied in my life, not in my conversation, not in anything about me. I will show it. I will show it forth. I will go after the devil. Wherever the devil is taking his lodge, I will sack the devil from the life of men, from the hearts, from the church of God, from everywhere the devil has held people captive. That is what the power of God is left for us to do. God did not just give it to us for us to be just be saying it. He want it demonstrated. Bible says the earnest expectation of creation awaits the manifestation of the sons of God. They are not angels, they are you and I. Let us pray. Let us ask the Lord to help us. Our life must not deny God's power. It's time for me to manifest starting from my everyday living. Jesus has set me free. What is that thing that has held you bound? That makes you to think you are not saved? As if your salvation is not complete. Face the thing and tell the thing, pack your load and go. Because I've been set free. I'm a new creation, I'm a brand new man. Old things are passed away, behold all things are new. Call upon the Lord. My life will not deny the power of God. I will manifest God's glory. We arise in our word, in our behavior, in our life. We say it, we have been made righteous, we have been sanctified. Thank you for what the cross of Jesus has given to us. We will not live anything below this. We will not live anything beneath this. We are above and not beneath. Lord, we thank you. In Jesus' unfailing name we pray. [Speaker 3] Father, in Jesus' name. Father, in the mighty name of Jesus. I want to thank you for the word of God we've heard, that you've opened our understanding to another aspect of your cross. That we pray that we go deeper and deeper and it will work righteously in us in the name of Jesus. Oh Lord, we thank you once again that this word that you've not hidden it from us, that this age you are giving this thing to us as a mind. Oh Lord, we pray that we may grow and dwell in them in the name of Jesus. The matter of the cross, oh Lord, we pray that we will continue to grow in it and your understanding will be made known to us in the name of Jesus. Oh Lord, I want to pray for the ministers that you will increase her from strength to strength in the name of Jesus. Oh Lord, we pray that you will dwell in her more and more in the name of Jesus. Oh Lord, we pray for as many of us that are here today, may you speak to us there on in the name of Jesus. Your word, Lord, will continue to dwell in us richly in the name of Jesus.
