Church is in fellowships. It cannot be more spiritual than the individuals and families that constitute them. God greatly desires a godly home. These are words of restoration and instruction in righteousness on Family Tech Ministry. May you be blessed as you listen.
[Speaker 1]
The crucial point last Monday was we were looking very closely again and questions were coming from "He who made them at the beginning made them male and female." And so matter began to generate. Those who participated in that Monday discussion were looking at it and relating it to what is happening in society today. Many of us who were around that last Monday, you will remember that we left it at the point where we said the implication of making them male and female is that what invalidates one invalidates the other.
How many of us were around in that third Monday of August? That was the issue that we really brought out much more because it was critical that third Monday of August when we were making ourselves to see that when the Pharisees came to Jesus, they said, "Can a man put away his wife for any reason?" And then he said, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female and said that for this cause a man shall leave father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two but they are one. What therefore God has joined together let no man put asunder."
[Matthew 19:3-6]
But they now raised another issue that why did Moses then allow them to put away their wife by giving a bill of divorcement? And then he now raised the matter that it was because of the hardness of their heart. We have looked at that extensively, the matter of the hardness of heart. But we were now going back. Jesus actually answered their question when he said, "He that made them at the beginning made them male and female." It was because they raised another issue that he now had to say, "Because of the hardness of your heart." So we now went back to what Jesus said originally, that he made them male and female. And what we did that day was that I took a very good illustration.
If you look at—let's use it again. Let's have that slippers. The two. Now if you look at, how many shoe? How many shoe? It’s one shoe. It’s not two shoes. So He who made them from the beginning made them male and female. That’s the implication. So that if at any point you say your wife is useless, it also means this one too is useless. Because you cannot use this one and this one. This is what divorce is. Do you get it? This is divorce.
So a divorced man may look normal but he's an abnormal man. If you see me in the street wearing shoe like this, no matter how beautifully dressed, they will try to dress themselves with so many things but they are not normal people. Because a normal man will not wear this kind of shoe. He will rather go and put it with the pair. So we said He who made them at the beginning made them male and female. That was what he made. He made a pair. He made them male and female. That's the implication. And he not only made them, he also said, "For this cause, since he made them male and female for this cause, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife." That’s possessive noun. His pair.
So the only problem is that except a man has a good walk, a walk with God, he cannot find his wife. He may not take his pair. But if he has a continuous walk with God, when Adam said "this is the bone of my bone," he was not wrong. It was his pair. And that is the miniature of what God wants. If a man walks consistently with God, it is not by befriending and girlfriend-ing. That is the world's alternative. It is not by dating relationship. Let me test how compatible we are. No. It will grow and grow and grow and grow and his walk, his walk with God is straight and normal.
How many dating did Adam do to know that Eve was taken out of him? Was there any boyfriend? No. But you see, it is because people are not growing in the spirit. That’s why they are looking for alternative, saying go and check emotional compatibility, check mental compatibility, check physical compatibility, and now they are checking sexual compatibility. They are doing all the compatibility. After all of that, where has that carried society to today? With all the compatibility that we have been doing, have marriages been better in society? It has not been better because the real thing about finding the pair is the level of walk that a man has with God.
Because the matter of the pair was a matter of the beginning. And the matter of the beginning you were not there. So you cannot come and use common sense to find what was divinely constructed. You cannot use common sense. You cannot use philosophy to find it. It was spiritually designed. It was spiritually made. It was something within the purpose and the mind of God. And when those things were being done you were not there. So you can't say, "Okay, two plus two, okay, he's from my village, his father is a pastor, my father is a pastor, okay, he looks gentle, he attended Deeper Life, I attended Deeper Life, she must be the one." That’s pure foolishness. You can't get it that way.
Or it looks like our friendship is smooth, in fact I enjoy our friendship, she must be the one. It’s not like that. It is by a walk with God. And God gives an understanding into the heart just like God gave understanding to the heart of Adam. He didn't know. He was not at the beginning when that thing was done. He was not there. But when it was brought, he knew. This thing, he knew. So that was the critical point where we ended in August in marriage forum. And so the Monday that followed, the first Monday of September, there were now a lot of applications of that matter. That was what came that first Monday of September. Applications that okay, that will simply mean that it becomes so important for individuals, particularly on the side of the man, although for the woman too, to be sure that he gets his pair.
If you really understand that, we will now see the why we must take time to know the Lord who made the pair. If you see it as critical as that, you will see the level we need to know the Lord. Because if you look at what God said again in his word, check scripture over and over. Go and check Proverbs. Proverbs is a place of practical wisdom. In one writing, Proverbs said, "He that findeth a wife..." Why is it a good thing? You see "He that findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth favor from the Lord." Now you notice that to find a wife requires favor from God. So if God don't favor you, you cannot find her.
[Proverbs 18:22]
So it’s not really a matter of how calculative, no. It’s a favor. God must favor you. You must be in favor in walk. The man that obtained favor, that’s the man that will find him. In other writing, I don’t know how you also come across it. He said houses and riches are from parents, but what? He said a prudent wife is from who? Is from the Lord. While parents can give you all riches, no parent can give you wife. It is the Lord. That one is the Lord because he made the pair.
[Proverbs 19:14]
And that is why people think what we in society don't understand is we think we can abandon God in the matter of marriage and run it successfully. But the more we abandon God, the more we are meeting with challenges. And that was another thing we raised that Monday. We were looking at the level of tragedies in society today, the level of calamity, the level of destruction that marriage has brought on life. How marriage has wasted young men, wasted young women. How people have been, it would have been better that they were not married. Despite all level of intelligence and rationality, we have seen doctors' marriage collapsing, lawyers, barristers, professors, all of them. With all their intelligence they could not get it right.
Because it’s not a matter of how intelligent, how smart. This matter, marriage is the only institution that came out from God. Its origin is divine. So there is nothing physical that runs it apart from the principle and the operation that came out from God. So society has tried to use several things and that is why those were the applications we were having that Monday, that indeed this thing is true. Then other thing that came to the mind was the issue of what happens in the case of widowhood. I want to move. I don’t know if I move you will not be able to follow the discussion. That’s why I’m doing a kind of little recap so that you can be able to follow. If you have questions you can raise the question, but I'm just recapping so that you'll be able to follow.
We want to move today a little further and so we are trying to capture it. Now the question is what happens in the case of widowhood? Let’s take a brother who married at the age of thirty, lost the wife at thirty-five. Since you said he made them male and female, so what is implication? Is it that he can never find a wife again? And I said, "O foolish men, how you try to reduce God to man." But I said anyway, before we go to biblical wisdom, let's even use human wisdom. It is the user. If I misplace this shoe, this one becomes useless. So anytime the wife is useless, the husband is useless. Whatever invalidates this one invalidates the other one because it's a pair.
But if this one gets missing, maybe I traveled and I can't find my second shoe and I still want that shoe again, it is me that cannot produce another one. If I get back to the manufacturer, I will get exactly that. Let's even use common knowledge. If you go back to the manufacturer, will he not give you exactly the second leg again? I said, "O foolish men, why are you reducing God to man?" So if ordinary men can produce another exact of the pair, what do you think of God the Creator who can do and undo and redo and redo again?
[Speaker 2]
Sir, before you go far, I want to ask a question based on what you said. You said like this pair of shoes, if one gets missing, if you go back to the manufacturer, okay, let’s say in the case of divorce.
[Speaker 1]
Yes, that’s the case of putting away. Not only divorce, even putting away. You just avoid your wife, go away, I don’t need you, you useless one, then you are planning your life yourself.
[Speaker 2]
But I have another question. If this one maybe gets bad, how do you get it?
[Speaker 1]
Yes, in the case of, I just gave an example now, somebody is thirty, by thirty-five he lost his wife. You lost this shoe now. You now go back to the manufacturer and say, "Please can you help me to find the second pair?" and he can make it for you. If you lost your wife, you go back to God, God will give you exact copy of the deep again.
[Speaker 2]
So the new wife will be an exact copy of your pair?
[Speaker 1]
Will be exact copy. God is still the manufacturer. What you need to realize is that the making of a wife is God. Is that not so? So what constitutes that making, God can reconstitute it again. He can reconstitute it. These are things that we need to understand. Why do we reduce God? Look at ordinary miracle. They will say a man, the leg is short, and they will pray, the leg will grow again. Have you not seen such miracles?
[Speaker 2]
Sir, what of cases whereby you divorced your wife before you knew the Lord and she was not your wife, I mean she wasn't the woman God designed for you?
[Speaker 1]
The Bible says, no that is very simple, the Bible says every man should remain in the state in which he met the Lord. In other words, if you have been married before you met the Lord, your case can't revert to the first. That’s why the earlier we meet God the better for our life. Do you get it? The earlier the better before we digress and digress into so many things in our life. Just like people who have married two, three wives before they met the Lord. You can't say, "Okay, all the children, kill them." Those things are not possible again. He has to take responsibility, he has to do everything, he has to—you get the point I’m making? And yet he's a Christian.
It doesn't make him not to be a good Christian. It’s only that he has gone this far before he met the Lord. And that is why I say blessed are people who meet God at a very young age. Honestly, it’s a great blessing to know God at a very young age. So that before you begin to take major, major decisions of your life, it will be in the Lord. Because when you meet God at much more later age, it also limits how far God can use you. That is why if you look at when God wants to use people, go and check it very well. He says it will come to pass in that day that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see vision.
When Jesus was speaking to his disciples, Peter, James, and John, they didn't pick their parents. He chose the children. Do you get what I’m trying to say? So the earlier one meets with God and grow with God, there is something about age. There is something about age, there is something about all of those things in our work with God. So the earlier one meets God is true, but it doesn't mean that at whatever point you meet the Lord, that’s why he says, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give rest." There is no life that God cannot give rest to, no matter at which point he met the Lord.
It’s only that certain things are scars that cannot be, they will remain. You can't repair—just like if you have been deflowered before you meet God, you can't say you are marrying as a virgin again. There are certain things just like that. You can't repair certain things but it doesn't mean that you are less a believer. It doesn't mean that you are not kingdom citizen like every other citizen of the kingdom. And that's why he gave that illustration, that parable, that a man went out, he hired some people in the early morning, later he hired some again in the afternoon, later he hired some again in the evening, then close to the end of the day he hired some again. When he wanted to pay, he paid them equally. The early ones said, "Ah! We have worked through the day!" He said, "What is your problem?" So it doesn't make those people less. It doesn't make them less than the Lord.
[Matthew 20:1-16]
So at that point the walk, that was the case that Paul was talking about, that if a brother have an unbelieving wife, let him not put her away. If a sister have an unbelieving husband, let her not put him away. You get the point? If he's willing to stay then let them stay. I've seen people who become born again first, the wife became born again first, the husband almost killed her, but she persisted, continued preaching and shining the light in her home. Today they are both serving the Lord.
[1 Corinthians 7:12-14]
So if the unbelieving is not, the Bible says we should not put the person away, rather we should—charity should begin from home. If you really love the woman, now you have met with God and he says "love your wife," so the first love is to die for her to live. It’s to do everything to bring her to be converted, to know the Lord. She might have been the mother of your children. Why will you want to go to heaven and the mother of your children go to hell? If at that point your children may not have known the Lord, you want to bring your children too to know the Lord. And if it's the wife, if you really love the man, why not submit in such a way that by your life he can be won? So that this man too can go to heaven with you. You are running outside to meet some people, the ones at home you have not saved them and godliness should begin from home.
I hope you see the implication. So it doesn't revert it, it doesn't bend it. Because what binds a man to his wife is so strong. It’s so strong, society is taking it for granted. It’s so strong that it is so intrinsic, it’s so mysterious that even conversion don't necessarily break it off. But the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the believing husband and the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the believing wife. That's in the scripture. I'm quoting scripture, 1st Corinthians chapter 7. I hope I have answered the question. Okay, let’s take it.
[Speaker 2]
The question is in line with this issue of nobody is less in the kingdom. That you are converted fifty years ago and I'm just converted yesterday. Yes, salvation is, you are children of God. But there is this, I don’t know how far it’s true, that every man's work, everybody will be rewarded according to his work.
[Speaker 1]
No, when it comes to work there are different—I'm talking about salvation. That you are a child of God, you are this and that. But when it comes to work, labor, all of that, there will be diversity because one has more years, one will have bear so much fruit, one will have—there will have been diversity in that. You get the point I’m making? But that person to whom much is given, much will be expected. To whom little time is given, little will be expected. So time is also part of it.
So if you have been planted twenty years ago and you bring twenty baskets of mango, somebody got born again yesterday and he brought thirty baskets of mango, then your life was not productive. We expect that you should be bringing two hundred bags, that other person bring thirty, and both of you have brought one hundred percent. Because to you more time was given, much is expected. Little time is given, little is expected. That’s about the issue of one talent, two talents, it also have to do with time and eternity. Some of us are given a very long time, some were given very, very short time. Remember brother Stephen? Very short time he was off, but he was one hundred percent productive. But Paul who did all his own too, he's one hundred percent productive. You were given different times. So both time, life, money, all those things are all things for God's wisdom, for God's evaluation. They are all in the scriptures. They are all properly answered.
So we want to move from that point of He who made them at the beginning made them male and female. So that whatever invalidates the male, invalidates the female. That’s the point from which we want to move. And I believe I've been able to bring all of us to that point. Have I? I've been able to bring everybody to that point. So let’s now go back now to Matthew 19. I know just like you are asking lots of questions, that was what we did the first Monday of September. But one thing that was very, very clear that Monday too. Anything I needed to add?
[Speaker 2]
The matter of, I remember you were asking questions that were so difficult to answer like different scenarios in marriage whereby the man has left the woman for years, he has gone and someone was like, "The woman should be married now since the woman, the man has gone being on his own, married where he is." You now came to James chapter 1 verse 23, count it all joy when you fall into—
[James 1:2]
[Speaker 1]
Okay, yes, we were making reference to trials. Trials when there are challenges, when there are things, how do we relate to it? How do we bear with it? Because sometimes there can be very, very serious issues about marriage. The challenges about marriage that could come up. Many of the challenges also is because they are also rooted in the foundation. A situation where a man who was once a prodigal stays away. There are foundational issues that could cause problem. But we said even sometimes when we see this different adversity in marriage, it’s very, very important that we bear up and bear through. But we were having different applications to different situations. That was true. Thank you very much.
So we want to go back again to that Matthew. Matthew 19. Now from verse 3 again, that's why we normally read through, then we begin to raise issues. Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?" "Haven’t you read?" he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate or put asunder."
[Matthew 19:3-6]
The why then we have treated it. So we are treating this matter of now what we have looked at very, very critically, very, very looking at it intently, turning it and turning it is this, "Haven’t you read?" he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female." That was the matter we looked at extensively, made them male and female, made them in pairs. Now, I don’t know whether you notice a recent discussion that came up that some people were feeling that if you read through the Bible, did the Bible say that polygamy is a sin? Have you heard that matter flying around?
[Speaker 2]
Yes, it has not just once—
[Speaker 1]
Just once. Someone was asked then people began to draw examples. People began to draw examples that Abraham had two, David had five—
[Speaker 2]
Solomon.
[Speaker 1]
Yes, it was not, was it not five or three? No, it was four. He had three and then concubines. No, David didn't have concubines. Michal, Ahinoam of Jezreel, Abigail—
[Speaker 2]
Then he acquired more wives too after—
[Speaker 1]
Those ones were not, those ones are concubines. He had some—that’s what he's referring to. Those were the ones that Absalom slept with to fulfill the prophecy of Nathan against David, that you have done it secretly, somebody will sleep with your neighbor will do it, and the neighbor was the son that came to fulfill that. So then so they draw things like that and so we want to move a little further. We have said he made them male and female. And what we mean that now you now know what we mean. If you have not been seeing it in the way we discuss it now, we have been able to see what we say made them male and female. That will make you see why marriage is irreversible.
Now, having made them, the Bible say he said. Now the question is what is the implication of he said? He made something and then he said. I want to answer back to some things that have been to grow. I don’t know why the church is beginning to have the heart to promote polygamy in recent time. That seems to be a trend. Or to support polygamy or to say—and to excuse it. The church is creating things to excuse it. That was why somebody said sometimes on air that that was the matter people have been jumping around with. Fortunately for me, the message was under way when he said it and it’s a popular teacher in the land. That there is nowhere it is written that polygamy is a sin in the Bible. That it is just church doctrine that calls it a sin. That the only thing he sees is that polygamy will give people more problem to manage. You marry more than one you have more issues, you have more that, but it’s not a matter of a sin.
I’m not responding to him anyway. My issue is not—I tell somebody that it is when you don't have matters in your heart that your ministry becomes a ministry of criticizing. Trace a revelation, trace what God is saying. But the reason why I want to raise these things for us to understand I raise that so you can understand where we are going. I want to give you an insight. When the Bible says He made them male and female, naturally that should settle a matter, that He who was making them made them male and female. And I wanted to join them having shown that shows the pair I wanted to journey to Genesis to emphasize the matter.
Now if you take your journey to Genesis where he made them, we have seen the implication of what we mean by male and female. Now we want to go and look at that matter of male and female. In looking at that matter of male and female you will notice three important things. The first implication, let’s see Genesis. He made them male and female. Genesis chapter 1, let's go there. Now in verse—let’s look at verse 20. And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky." So God created great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems, that moves about in it, according to their kinds. Every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Verse 22, can we read it together? God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful, increase in number, fill the water in the sea, let the bird increase upon the earth." That was the blessing. There was evening and there was morning, that was the fifth day. Then 24, God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kind, the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, the wild animals, each according to its kind," and it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kind, the livestock according to their kind, and all creatures that move along the ground according to their kind. And God saw that it was good.
[Genesis 1:20-25]
Please, from scripture that we have read, is there anything implying that God made male and female in the animal? Is there anything implying—I mean implying now—is there anything implying that God made male and female in the animal? Now, if you look at the reading, there is nowhere God directly said that he made the creatures male and female. But by what goes on, there is an implication that female were among them because he blessed them and said be fruitful, multiply. But in making them, he never said he made them male and female. There was nothing like that. Rather they were in their kind.
Now, when he got to man, he said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the livestock, the animals, everything and everything." So God created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Have you ever asked yourself why male and female was not referred to as creation? Because look at Genesis chapter 6 when Noah was busy packing all the animals. Genesis chapter 6 where he took the animals, please let’s look at verse 17. Are you there? Genesis 6:17. Are you there?
"I am going to bring flood water on earth to destroy all life under the heaven, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. But I will establish my covenant with you and you will enter the ark, you and your son and your wife and your son's wife with you. You are to bring into the ark two of every living creature." What did he say? "Two of every living creature, male and female."
[Genesis 6:17-19]
So God made male and female at that beginning. So take two of every living creature, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, two of every kind—then some he took seven and all of that. So you see God giving instruction here. But Jesus talking about the beginning, if you go back to the beginning, but when he was making these things, there was no particular reference to male and female. He said he make them in their kind. But when he came to man, he said he make them male and female.
Now, you’ll be wondering, I want us to draw our mind to something. What was the purpose of making, you know when you say that Genesis 1, he made them male and female and blessed them. You know that one was after chapter 2, that blessing them. You first made Eve from Adam before he now blessed them and said be fruitful and multiply. Are you understanding me? Now, why was Eve made? He said, "It is not good for Adam to be alone, I will make him a help suitable for him." When Eve was made, God now blessed them like he blessed the animals. Be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, fill it, and have dominion.
[Genesis 1:28, 2:18]
Now, God created the human beings to rule over the other ones. Is that not so? They are to rule over them by having what? Dominion over them. How will they get the dominion? They will be fruitful, they will multiply, replenish the earth, they will fill it, then they will dominate. So if Adam don't multiply, he cannot dominate. Are you with me? You cannot rule over the earth except he's able to man the earth. If the animals are multiplying, they are multiplying, they are multiplying, and they are filling the earth, and man is just single, what will eventually happen with man? So man too need to multiply to subdue the earth and have dominion over it.
Now, have you ever asked yourself, animals are in their kinds, man is to have dominion over them. If God was thinking of his purpose very critically and he want it, Adam to enter into it fast, what should God have done about the female? He would have been in their kinds too. He would have been many females so that Adam too can be multiplying. But he made one. Now, the reason why we are drawing, why we are drawing our attention to this is that the first thing Jesus said is that in the making, he made them male and female. And that’s what we talk about the pairs. But having made, God did not stop there so that in case it is not clear, having made, what did he now do? He now said. Having made, you know you do something, you now make pronouncement. What is a pronouncement?
If I do this place, I then say this place shall be for this and this and this. What is the implication? I define the purpose. Any other thing contrary to it we can question it. If you say this place shall be used for the worship of God and for the things that have to do with God, then suddenly we see Muslims coming here they say they want to pray. What will we say? They are trespassing. When God made, God now did what? Said. He said. And what he said, you need to understand that when you say God said, do you realize that God said for instance to Moses, "Keep the Sabbath day holy. Anybody that does not keep it holy, the person should be killed." Having said that, what does it become? It’s a law. Anybody that does not keep the Sabbath, what is the person doing? Breaking the law.
Having made male and female, what did he do? He said. I want us to have understanding of when a man has done something and then the man now said, "Look, for this reason a man shall leave father and mother and be joined to his wife." It becomes very clear that by that pronouncement, he ordained forever what marriage should be. By that pronouncement, he ordained forever what marriage should be. If you go and check all that he said, do you notice that all that he also pronounced in the Old Testament, none of them was not fulfilled? Even Christ came to do what? To fulfill. He didn't come to vain. He fulfilled them. What all those things meant, the Passover, don't break the bone, they didn't break Jesus' bone. The Sabbath, anybody that don't obey the Sabbath will die because you must observe the Sabbath rest if you want to be a child of God under the Old Testament. If you don't want to be a child of God today you must enter the Sabbath rest, Jesus must give you rest.
You will notice that he fulfilled all. What I’m saying is that don't you see that men are blind when they cannot understand that when he made and he said, he ordained forever what marriage should be. For you to understand the ordination, that was why you—let's now go back to that Matthew. Matthew 19. Look at it for you to understand it. "Haven’t you read?" he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female." As far as Jesus is concerned, what is the answer to marriage? Where should we go when we want to talk about marriage? We should go to the beginning. "Haven’t you read?" and then said, "For this reason a man shall leave father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh." What is the next thing? What concludes that verse? "Therefore what God has joined together let no one separate or put asunder."
Who normally give out a man in marriage? Who give out a woman in marriage? But he didn't say what therefore the parents have joined. Are you following me? He said what therefore God has joined. How did God come into the matter? From verse 5. It means when God was making them male and female, he ordained that once a man joined himself to his wife, once a man follow that ordination, he has followed what? The ordination of God. It is not an ordination of man. The joining is not about the man. The joining is about the Lord. Even though it is the man that left, joined himself to his wife, the parents prayed and all that prayed, but that ordination is not man. That ordination is God.
So "What therefore God has joined together let no man put asunder." So what we are trying to say is that actually when he made them male and female, what did he do? He set up an order. What is sin? Is it not going against God's order? So if God said and somebody says no it does not matter, I can take two, is that the ordination of God? Is that what God ordained? Now a big challenge that has come for us is that several men have tried to give explanation from several Old Testament scriptures. And I want us to put that to discussion. What will you say then about David? We just mentioned them. What will you say about David? About Abraham? About Solomon? Were they men of God? So what will you say about them? In the face of this ordination, in the face of these things that you are raising, how do you place it side by side those things? How do you place it? How do you reconcile it?
Nobody want to talk. How do you reconcile it? Because that is where many people have been misled today. That is where several people have been seriously misled that how do you reconcile the patriarchal story with this matter that you are raising? It is the same way you need to understand. Let me give you first a simple way to understand it. Moses at a point allowed men to put away their wife. Is that not so? And on that there was an ordination. But what did God say? Even though Moses did that, he only did it, it doesn't mean that God so ordained. Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning." Yet another translation. Jesus said Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hardheartedness but it was not what God had originally intended.
[Matthew 19:8]
Jesus answered, "Moses allowed you to divorce your wife because you refused to accept God’s teaching, but divorce was not allowed in the beginning." Jesus said Moses provided for divorce as a transition to your hardheartedness, but it is not part of God’s original plan. Do you understand this? Do you understand that at all? Now, we saw a deviation and that was not the original plan. Now if somebody raised Moses, somebody raised Abraham, somebody raised David, what is the first answer to reply? That is not the original plan. That was not the original plan. Then the question will now be why were these things allowed? Let me explain it again to you.
Balaam went to God. God said don't go. Balak sent greater princes with more riches. He went back to God. What did God say? God said you can go. And quickly he saddled his ass and he went. Did that change the original plan? So everything Balaam went to do, the prophesying, the whatever, the whole works as he went to do, was it the original plan? Why did God allow? That was already there, he made up to do that which he has. But you know God presented an angel to go and kill him. As he went God said go, then God sent an angel to go and kill him. But God opened the eye of the ass to see the angel, so the ass was turning away. The angel said if the ass had not turned away by now your head would have been down.
So be thanking the ass that was turning away. Balaam now said he never knew that he was not supposed to go or whatever. He said anyway he should go. He went. The angels allowed him to go. When he got there, what was the point God wanted to prove? God wanted to prove something else. God wanted to make a point by allowing Balaam to go and give all the prophecies and all the prophecies and all the prophecies. But God wanted to prove a point that look what I have said, because God has told him these people they are blessed, they cannot be cursed. So even though he went and he did everything he want to do, God wanted to prove a point to him that that thing cannot be. That no matter how you turn it and turn it and turn it and turn it, what I have said, I have said.
See, that God allow certain things to pass through, let me give you another good example. When God blessed the midwives of the Egyptians, people have made prayer point from that God make me like the Hebrew women. There was never any Hebrew woman that gave birth without pain because it was actually a lie. They gave birth with pain. So sometimes we don't understand scripture very well. We just say certain things that—but that was not my focus. At that point the Bible say God blessed the Egyptian women, those women the midwives, and God blessed them and increased them. And God therefore ordained that when we tell lies we will be blessed?
[Exodus 1:15-21]
I want to lead you to a journey of discovery so that you can understand certain things before I give—
[Speaker 2]
When you talk about Abraham, Moses, and everything, a scripture struck in my hand and in my mind. The law of the spirit of life has set me free from the law of sin and death. That was the scripture that jumped into my mind.
[Romans 8:2]
[Speaker 1]
What if as I’m talking now, I want to make you understand something very, very clearly. But I want to make you see it gradually so that you can understand it. You pick the first person, Abraham. He went into a woman and then something came up, there was Ishmael and all of that. The question I want to ask you, what point have God proved? What is the point that God proved, that God wanted to show us by not hiding away anything in the life of these men so that we can know that any time we alternate God’s plan, it will be adversity. Do you know that that alternate of God’s plan and there was an Ishmael, what did God use it to raise for Abraham? Adversity.
God want us to see clearly that look, if I have said something, this is what I have ordained. If you try to go around it, that’s why it says trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path. Don’t be wise in your own eyes. When a man want to prove to be wise, God leave men in their foolishness that God might prove his point. It doesn't change the ordination of God. It doesn't change the ordination of God. I want to ask you this question. When he was saying "one of you here will betray me" and Judas said "Lord, is it me?", why didn't he say "you are also asking question, you think I don't know you?" What you are doing, do quickly. Is it that he did not know him? When God asked Adam, "Adam, where are you?", is it that God is oblivious of where Adam is? He didn't know what have happened?
Does not your mind understand that ever before the creation the lamb has been slain? See, there are some things about God that I'm trying to, don't put God into a box and want to boss him out of the box and then begin to say, "Ah but look God." See, it is important for you to know that the ordinances of God should not be taken from the story line of people's life but from what he has pronounced. God may give story, God may tell us just because God don't hide anything about people. God gives you all the stories, God gives you everything, God make you to see this is how it went, that is how it went. But you don't begin to say that God ordained that. That somebody, God is telling a story of somebody's life, that God allow a thing to be recorded, that God allow a thing to be put down, does not in any way reverse what God has said. It does not in any way turn it around. It does not in any way excuse what God has said.
That was why you notice after several years of everything that they have done, when God surface again on earth, what did he say? "He who made them at the beginning." Except if you are losing sight that Jesus is God the Son. Jesus is God, very God. When he came down again and he was to make pronouncement, he said, "Look, haven’t you read?" So we should be careful about drawing the ordinations of God from the story line of people's life. Because you must like somebody say in a very joke way, but if you really understand spiritual things it’s something very, very serious. He said, "Look, don’t put where God put period, don’t exchange it with a comma." But this is what he's trying to say. You don't try to understand God by scriptures that are obscure when God has spoken clearly in scriptures on a matter. You don't use obscure scripture to explain obvious scriptures.
Where God has said this is this, then you see something else and you cannot understand it. What you need to say is that God please give me understanding. How do I reconcile this with this? No, no, no, no, no. This one cancels this. What you need to see, what you need to get, what you need to understand, what you need to know, what you need to realize in the life of Abraham was that by the time God surface again with Abraham, God said, "I wish you had walked before me and be perfect." I wish you had walked correctly. I wish you had never deviated. So I want you to get it clear that the ordination remains as God have ordained.
People have moved again to say even David the anointed of God, when he was marrying, marrying, God did not say anything. Even the twelve tribe of Israel they came from two wives and then again they gave another two, they became four and all of them in the tribe of Israel so God have changed ordination. I'm trying to raise these things because these are things that people have raised. But go and sit down and look carefully into scripture and look diligently into scripture and read through the line. Check yourself, check scripture after scripture. Check at the inception of it. Do you notice that at the inception of that marriage, what did the two bring into the marriage? When they were two? Did it ordain peace or war? When the four of them came, go back to the twelve tribe of Israel. What happened eventually? Do you notice that every time there's always this thing that they draw?
Go and look at all the stories very well. You will always see, even when David became king and he was driven away and he was trying to come back, what did he tell the people of Judah? You people of Judah, you are my own blood. So you still see one line even though he's a king of the twelve. When Solomon misbehaved, what did the other tribe say? "Go to your own way." You see God is only trying to make you see that every time we leave his ordination, we run into confusion. We run into division. We run into problem. Have you ever wondered, do you notice the relationship between Joseph and Benjamin? When Joseph went to bring Benjamin, why do you want Benjamin to come? When he was giving things, who got more? Benjamin.
There's nothing like, you see that one line remain the pure line. There's always an adversity. There’s always a line people see, one line. God gave you again in Gideon. He married a woman that was not of the twelve, remember? That one, remember him? What is his name? Abimelech. When he got up what did he do to the original children? He finished all of them. Why? He went to his own people. He said "See, you are my own bone. These people they are not." Which is better for you, one bone or several other bones? God is trying to make you see no matter how you draw the line, it is one line. One mother, mother children. Mother children, they are not like father’s children.
[Judges 9:1-5]
The very day a man goes into polygamy, you know what he has done? He has drawn a war against himself. He has caused a division into his life. He has invited a war into his life. Because it will, no matter how you turn it, God have ordained. So trying to say there’s nothing like one mother children is going against God. You cannot say that. You are not getting me. You love us more than your other brother that are not Christian? You see, it is not about not loving. We can love our brethren who are Christians. That’s a level. But we are saying that there is something. There is something. Even when we have done that, you will discover that there's still this thin line of same father one mother. You will still see it. Even when all of you become believers and you are doing things, you will still see that.
That’s why he's trying to show you David as he's a man that walk with God, that praises God, a man of God’s presence. When there was misbehavior, he said, "Ah Judah, I expect you to confess now. Ah are you not my own mother's blood, why didn’t you confess? I expect you to have confessed." When God finished anointing David, he first become a king where? In Judah. Why did Judah take him first and the others stayed? Mother’s blood. It’s with the same anointing oh. Is he not anointed? It was later with Judah, Judah now help him to fight the others. Then they now came, "Okay we all come under David." When there was misbehavior he said, "Ah look David manage yourself, we know our own."
He's trying to make you see something very, very important. Christianity gives us a new life, make us to relate well. But all that God is trying to point you to that why God work in the midst of his people, why God move in the midst of his people and is working among them, how blessed they would be if they stay within his ordination. So God moved in Israel, but look at how going against God’s ordination caused serious problem for Israel. Death, calamity, different things and the same thing that we are going back to today. Christians are talking encouraging the thing. If you—yes we are believers but just as you said you will still see there's this, how good it is. So he's saying that your father have made a mistake, don't go into the same mistake. Because even when your children or people if you manage to make all of them Christians, they will still know that this one is not my—they are Christians but there will be a line just like your own. They will love you, but he loves you too, but that does not make him to prefer you to his—it is there.
He does not remove that line. He knows the special area where he wants to—so the reason why God allow for all those stories so that we can see. He’s doing well. Yes. In science too, the sex of a child or the blood group of the child is determined by the father, not the mother. But in the kingdom it’s the reverse. I said in science who determine the blood group of the child? It’s the father. In the kingdom side it’s the reverse. How is it reversed? Like what we just said now, mother's line, mother's line. No, no, no, understand what we are saying. I’m not talking about mother as a line. The line is the father. Generation is in the father.
But what we are saying is this, once you bring in another one, there is another father-mother introduced into your life. You get the point? What God have ordained is that a man is a line and he keeps his line in his female, in one woman. That is his line. Once he goes off that line to bring another one, that other line will begin to count their line in that one. They will still see, no this is we, mother’s children. This one too they say no, it’s our father, this is our line, our mother. Those ones they are not in our line. So you can only talk about a man and a line. Any other line will be conflict. In fact any other line the man has no—he has no—because what happen is that they will divide against him. You notice how polygamy will come up, we see some children they will get up they will say no this, since our mother too must have property, those ones they say no if—he has brought a war against himself. Because he has brought something that will work against his line.
That is all that God wanted us to see in all of this thing. It's so unfortunate today that instead of drawing wisdom, saying "Ah my father married three wives and God did not kill him, why don't I marry three?", you know we are not drawing wisdom but it only shows you the level again the extent to which the average Christian today does not have the mind of Christ. There is a mind of Christ. Praise the Lord. I believe we have been able to go round and round and round today. Let us pray.
Let’s talk to the Lord this evening. He made them male and female. He made them male and female. And he also said a man, not men, shall leave their father, leave their parents and be joined to their wife. He didn't say that. He said a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined again, he must get his female, to his wife, his pair. It's a very important thing. That’s why I tell people pray about the will of God, walk with God to be able to design, to be able to come to the point where you have favor with God. Where when you will be joined, it is your wife and not just a woman but your wife. Are you married? How are you seeing, how are you seeing your husband? How are you seeing your wife?
He made them male and female. Is there something about her? It is the pair that has problem. Don't begin to say your wife's problem is her problem. When you say my shoe has problem, you don't—you are talking about that shoe. If one has problem, they say "In fact, I cannot wear it," the shoe has problem. You are talking about—don't begin to take one thing to one person. It’s a problem today. They are no longer two, they are one. Once they are joined they are no longer two. Our problem is your problem. His problem is your problem. These are things that we need to understand. These are things that bring peace into marriage, that bring rest in home. Thank you Father. Thank you Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
