Prayer Session

[Speaker 1] Churches and fellowships cannot be more spiritual than the individuals and families that constitute them. God greatly desires a godly homefront. These are words of restoration and instruction in righteousness from Family Tent Ministry. May you be blessed as you listen. [Speaker 2] Eventually, when God wants to relate to you, it will be like I said last week: to whom much is given, much will be expected. To whom little is given, little will be expected. And so how much of God we receive is so crucial to how God deals with us. For that church, they were doing so many things, but the Lord said none of the work that they were doing was according to how they received. None of the work. He said none of them meets the requirement. So it is possible to be working, and actually you are doing nothing because it is not in line with how you have received. I pray that the Lord will help us. The Lord will help us such that our life, when related to how we receive, our life would receive that remark, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," in the name of Jesus. So today, we are going to pray because it is our last Monday in the month of August. And honestly, since last week that we left, my mind has been going back, or has been burdened along this particular area that will form the base of our prayers today as disciples, as followers of Jesus, as men who have been called by God. How much are we really realizing, or how much are we understanding that the end of all things draws very near? How much are we realizing that everything is rounding up? Everything is closing up. And you know what I have been checking and rechecking and rechecking? We will check those two scriptures, and then we will take our prayer points. Some based on what I am saying now, and then some based on the things that we have learned in the course of the month. Please look at Daniel chapter 3. Daniel chapter 3, where the Bible was talking about the image that was made by Nebuchadnezzar. He said Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, from verse one, whose height was sixty cubits and its width six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. And of course, we are familiar with the story. What was the instruction about the image? That everybody should bow to the image. Whosoever does not bow to that image would be thrown into the furnace of fire. The story goes on to make us to see that in verse 12, there were certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, have not paid due regard to you. They did not serve your god or worship the gold image which you have set up. Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, gave the command to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. So they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you did not serve my god or worship the gold image which I have set up? Now, if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, the flute, the harp, the lyre, the psaltery, and the symphony with all kinds of music, and you will fall down and worship the image which I have made, good. But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of the burning furnace, burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hand?" Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that be the case, if that be the case..." What is the case that they are referring to? What was the case in this episode? You bow, you live. You don't bow, what happens? Of course, you don't bow, and then you are thrown into the fire, you die. I just want to someone point out some things here, then we will go to Revelation, then we will take our prayers. Some based on what I am saying now and then some based on the things that we have learned in the course of the month. Now, the case could have also been that if you don't bow, you will be demoted from being over the affairs of Babylon. You know in chapter 2, at the end of chapter 2, those three boys were promoted. Are you aware? At the end of chapter 2, that is verse 47 and 48, "The king answered Daniel and said, 'Truly your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.' Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and the chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon. Also Daniel petitioned the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon, but Daniel sat in the gate of the king." So because of what Daniel did and the request that he made, those boys were promoted. Now when they came before the king in anger, the king has the right to do whatsoever with their lives. But the case that the king presented was that even though you are officers, there is not going to be any special consideration. The decree is that whosoever does not bow should be thrown into the fire. I am going by that decree anyway. That was the position of the king. The case could have been different. The king could have said, "Since by the virtue of the fact that you revealed my initial dream with your friend Daniel and you were promoted as being principals of my wise men, then maybe what I will do, I will demote you from this place." That could have also been the case. But the case that they are referring to here with the king when they said, "if this be the case," was the case of "if you don't bow, we will die like any other person." He said, "If this be the case, we will not bow. And we know that our God will deliver us, and even if He does not deliver us, we are not going to bow." You know what has been my burden from this place is, brethren, I want you to search your heart. I want you to look inward. Have you come to a point in life where you don't love your life unto death? The Bible says they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life unto death. I want you to check inward. I want you to look at personally, ponder and reflect as a person, as a Christian. Have you gotten to a point in your mind that if the only thing that it will take to move on is that you will die? Are you sure you are at that point in your mind in your walk with God? Are you at a point? What is your mind? Somebody was speaking yesterday, and he made reference to this popular story of the man of God. I think that should be Kenneth Hagin, but I am not so sure. But I think it is Kenneth Hagin that was sleeping in the night and he heard noise in the sitting room, rumbling of noise. And he went to the sitting room, and when he got there, he found demons, short-short demons in the sitting room. And when he saw them, he said, "Oh, are you the ones here? Okay, make sure you arrange the place back. I am going to sleep." And he went off to sleep. How many of us have such a mind? He did not pray, he did not bind, he did not cast, he did not do anything. He just said, "E toju ibeyen te ba ti setan," and then he went to sleep. Why? He has come to a point in his walk and in his mind. You know the battle is of the mind. Whether we die or live is a matter of our mindset. But he has come to a point in his own life that in his mind, all those short-short demons in the sitting room that came to that place, it is not a matter of prayer. It is a matter of telling them that, "Please arrange the place back. E ri wipe e to bee pada te ba ti daru tan," and he went to sleep. What I am saying, what I am asking you, is a question I have been asking myself. What is your mindset? I want you to ponder and consider. Are you sure in your mind you don't love your life unto death? That is, look at these three boys. They said, "If it is death, if that be the case, O king, we will not bow." For any of us, if this be the case, will we say we will not bow? If the case is that if you don't do it, you will die. If that is the case, have you come to a point in your mind that God has helped your mind to a point that if the case is that to ba je iku ni, en-hen, kilo wa ninu iku? Then je ka ku. And so, or to ba ti de pe iku ni, you are going to quickly adjust. You are going to quickly—what is your mind? In this our walk with God, I just want to make you understand this, that I am seeing something in these days that we are in. Let me tell you the truth. For as many of us that God will not help to this point, you cannot last. You cannot last. We must beg God to help our mind to a point where if this is the case, we will not bow. If the case is that we will die, and so what? Let us die. Let us die if that is the case. Because if this is not the case and your mind is such prepared, there are so many things today that many times, you will not follow the Lord. You will deny the Lord. Like Peter, they will tell you, "I think you are one of them." You will say, "Me? Me? I am not one of them, oh." What was Peter afraid of? He was afraid of death. There was a time in his life where he was scared of death. But you know at another point in his life, his mind was made up to face death. What I am saying is this: if your experience is at the first point of Peter's life, you will not last. You will not last. You must pray God and beg God to take you to the second point of Peter's life. There are points in our life. We must beg God to move us from the point of, "Ah, won ma pa mi. I will lose my job. Mi o ni rounje je. Don't let me—ah." If God doesn't move you from that point, you must pray God to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord. To a point where you are no more scared of death. Death is not a matter with you. Look at these boys. And you know why I believe that God can help us to this point? My first one is in the New Testament, that Peter was at a point in his life where he feared death. At another point in his life, he could face death. But I became more assured when I look at these boys. Because the case of these boys, they were more critical than the case of Peter. If Peter said he was among them, the case had not been decided yet. If he said yes, I'm one of them, they would now take him to the Pharisees. This one too is one of them, then they would now decide the case whether he would die or he would not die. Peter was still a step away from the ultimate because decision had not been taken. But for these boys, they are just at the point of death because the case had been decided. At the point when they did not bow at first, they get to the king and the king says, "Oh, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Okay, the last time you and Daniel were able to pray and you revealed my dream. Okay, I will give you a consideration. If you don't bow, I will remove you from the post. So bow now." You know that's less than what might happen. It would just be a loss of their position. But right now, the case had been decided. If you will not bow, you will die. You see, when I look at this case, I became very, very confident that God can bring us to this point because God brought men to this point under a covenant that is inferior to our own. If the Spirit of God—you know at this time, the Spirit of God had not been poured out upon men. And God could by the mercy drop, those drops of His Spirit, He could bring men to this point. Then much more the more under the New Testament, God can bring men beyond this point. So I want you to believe God. My exhortation to us is believe God that God should bring you to this second point. Let's pray it. Let's ask God, "God, that I may grow in grace and in knowledge of You where I don't fear death. Where if that is the case, and so? And so?" It is not a basis to compromise. I was speaking with a brother yesterday, and he said, even in our workplaces, do you know that it is to a point that once you are upright and you want to secure your post in your company, you better take your eyes away from those who are not upright? Or else they will either kill you or they will look for a way to remove you. So the best thing is just don't speak the truth, don't say the truth, just go along. And why? It is because we fear death. But Jesus encouraged us. He said don't fear them that can kill the body. But I am telling you, it is not something that will just happen. It is something that God must do for you. Ko s'eni ti ri iku t'eru o ni ba o. Let me be sincere with you. Ko s'eni ti ri iku t'eru o ni ba, except God has helped your mind. The first thing is to quickly compromise and change your—"You see, you know how—nkan ti mo kan so ko niyen, nkan ti mo mean ni pe—iro, let me explain better." You will try to quickly change. We need to pray God so that we can face the challenges of our time. God must bring our mind to where we don't fear death. The challenges of our time, wickedness have come to a point that if you fear death, you will not be able to challenge wickedness. Evil has come to a point that if you fear death, you will not be able to challenge evil. Evil men and seducers, the Bible says they will wax worse and worse. The other thing we will be praying about is this text in Revelation. You know I saw something in Revelation and honestly, it greatly hit my heart. Revelation chapter 6, verse 3 and verse 4. [Speaker 3] reads New Living Translation. "When the Lamb broke the second seal, I heard the second living being say, 'Come.' Then another horse appeared, a red one. Its rider was given a mighty sword and the authority to take peace from the earth. And there was war and slaughter everywhere." [Speaker 4] reads another translation. "When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, 'Come.' Then another horse came out, a very red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword." [Speaker 2] Do you get the scenario? The Lamb was doing something and as that thing was being done, it was having effect where? On earth. And one of the things that I want you to see in this place is that the rider was given power to do what? To take away what? Peace from the earth so that people begin to kill themselves. Have you read in the Bible, Psalms? The Bible says the Lord will be a strength unto His people, and the Lord will do what? Will bless His people with what? With peace. What I am trying to make you see is that whether you have peace or you don't have peace, either around you or in you or about you, it depends on the Lord. It depends on the Lord. Whether peace will be in a place or not depends on the Lord. He gives peace, and He does what? He takes away peace. And people were at the neck of each other, at the throat of each other, and they were killing themselves. Similarly, look at verse 5 and 6. It says, "When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, 'Come.' So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it has a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures say, 'A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.'" And immediately that left in terms of that is what to eat and to drink. Look at what followed in verse 8. "So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth." Who has control over death? Who has control over famine? Who has control over sickness? Who has control over pestilence? Who has control over who die and does not die? God. I am saying all of this so that for you to know that all we need do is to run into God. This period that we are in, period of famine, period of death, period of killing, period of pestilence, period of diseases outbreak, this die, that die—all of this is in the hand of somebody. And that person is your Father. So why are you restless? Why are you restless? Why are we living in fear? When He said he was given power to kill a fourth of the earth, can he kill beyond the fourth? Can he kill below the fourth? No. I show you the last thing, and then we start our prayers this evening. Please look at what happened when he opened the fifth seal. That is verse 9 to 11. New Living Translation. [Speaker 3] "When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of all who had been martyred for the word of God and for being faithful to their testimony. They shouted to the Lord and said, 'O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge the people who belong to this world and avenge our blood for what they have done to us?' Then a white robe was given to each of them and they were told to rest a little longer until the full number of their brothers and sisters, their fellow servants of Jesus who were to be martyred, had joined them." [Speaker 2] Do you get something there? Those that were dead were asking for vengeance. What were they told? They should wait. Wait for what? Until the number of their fellow servants who were to be martyred had been complete. For some of us, God has ordained that we will be martyred. There is nothing special about it. Some are designed to be martyred. It is the design and the program of God. God brought men to this point under a covenant that is inferior to our own. If the Spirit of God—you know at this time, the Spirit of God had not been poured out upon men. And God could by the mercy drop, those drops of His Spirit, He could bring men to this point. Then much more the more under the New Testament, God can bring men beyond this point. So I want you to believe God. Believe God that God should bring you to this second point. Let's pray it. Let's ask God, "God, that I may grow in grace and in knowledge of You where I don't fear death. Where if that is the case, and so? And so?" It is not a basis to compromise. If a man don't have the mind to face death, you can see that he has not come to the mind that God wants us to have as Christians. All of us will not be martyred. But in the program of God, some will be martyred, and it is nothing to God. It is His program. We are in His hands. It is His kingdom. And the battle is the battle of His kingdom, not our kingdom. And that means what He does with His servant. And that we are martyred does not mean that the battle was won. It is only that is how the Commander, in whose life, in whose hand is both life and death, that is how He wants it. It is not that He does not have the capacity to save, but that He has also programmed that some be martyred. God has all it takes for Jesus not to die. Am I correct? Jesus has all it takes for Him not to die. But why did He die? Because there was a purpose. So when He says men will be martyred, it is because God has a purpose. How are you carrying the gospel? That is just my concern as we pray today. Over the things that we have learned in the course of the month, particularly the secret path to rest. I want you to begin to pray. God, God, be my light and my salvation. Oluwa, je imole ati igbala mi. Lord, be my light and my salvation. Lord, be the strength of my life. Lord, be my light, be my salvation. Oluwa, Oluwa, je imole ati igbala mi. Lord, lighten my darkness. Lord, be the one in charge of my life. Lord, be the one that lights my darkness. Lord, give light, baba, oh, that I may daily hear You, instructing me, directing me. Lord, be the strength of my life. Oluwa, je imole ati igbala lati temi. Be my light, be my salvation. Lord, Lord, Lord, this is the secret path to rest. Until You are my light and my salvation, Lord God Almighty, I may not find rest. I may not be able to rest. God Almighty, God Almighty, I lift up myself to You. God, be my light, be my salvation. Be the strength of my life. Oluwa, je imole ati igbala lati temi. Lord, give light to my heart so that it can be at rest. Lord, be my light, be my salvation. Be the strength of my life. Oh Lord, that I may not be afraid. That I may not be afraid. Look at the boldness of Elijah when he saw the host of Syria all around him. The servant was afraid, but he said, "Look, you don't need to fear. They that be with us are more than they that be with them." It was because the Lord was his light. It was because the Lord was his salvation. That was why he was not afraid. Even though a host encamp against him, he was not afraid. Oh God Almighty, be my light, be my salvation, that I may not fear. Even when a host encamp against me, even when my enemy come against me, that they may stumble and they may fall. That I may stand in the place of my rest. That I may stand in the place of my peace. Oh Lord, lighten my darkness. Take me through the light of Your word. Take me through the light of Your truth. Lord, that I may walk, oh God, in the inspiration of Your word. In the name of Jesus Christ. Whether there will be peace or there will not be peace is a matter of God. They gave him power to remove peace. It means God is the author of peace. When God wants peace to be in a place, He is the one that gives peace. The Bible says the Lord will be a strength unto His people, and the Lord will bless His people with peace. I want you to pray. Lord God Almighty, baba, bless me with peace. Peace is a matter of God. He is the one that withhold peace and He is the one that gives peace. Lord, give me peace. Lord, give us peace. Until You bless with peace, there cannot be peace. And I want us in that same spirit to lift up our voice as regards the northern part of this country, particularly Southern Kaduna and Borno State in particular. Several parts of Borno State and in the North East. I want us to pray. Baba, You are the one that gives peace and You are the one that removes peace. Peace has nothing to do with Boko Haram. If God don't want them to do anything again, our God can manifest Himself and there will be peace. If God gives peace, nobody can give trouble. If God declares today that let there be peace in Southern Kaduna, nobody can trouble our brethren again. If God decrees today that in the North Eastern part of Nigeria, let there be peace, everything troubling that place, let there be peace. Brethren, I am telling you there will be peace. Can we pray to our God? God Almighty, give, be a strength unto Your people, and bless Your people with peace. Everything that troubles, everything that scatters, O Lord, arrest them for us. Lord, arise and arrest them. Arise and arrest them, O God, in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, arise. God, arrest them by Your command. The Bible says in Psalm 33, He spoke and it was done. He commanded and it stood fast. If God command that there should be peace, there will be peace because He spoke and it was done. Baba God Almighty, You are the only one that can give peace in a place and You are the only one that can remove peace. Everything that have lifted up its head to say no, I will not give peace, I will remove peace, they don't have the power. The power to give peace and remove peace belongs to our God. It belongs to the God of the earth. Lord, bless Your people with peace. Thank You, eternal Father. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. In the course of the month, we saw something very clearly: that everybody that prospered, we saw David how he prospered in that battle because the Lord was with him. We saw Isaac how he prospered in famine because God was with him. We saw all of these people and I want you to pray because the Lord has assured us. Ever before we entered into all of this in 2020, the Lord spoke to us. He said this year, we must be courageous. That if we were courageous, there will be harvest. And because there will be harvest, there will be lifting. The Lord saw everything in 2020. I was speaking with somebody, you know what she said in Yoruba? "Ori 2020 yi, a o le gbagbe laye. Gbogbo nkan ko daru." That's what she said. That this 2020, we cannot forget it. "Gbogbo nkan ko daju," that this year is strong. But ever before all of these things started, the Lord spoke to us that we need to be courageous. He spoke to us that if we are courageous to follow Him, that we will have harvest and that the year will be a year of lifting. So with all that you are seeing, I want you to pray. Isaac followed what God said and he prospered. David followed what God said and he prospered. If we follow what God told us, we will prosper. So I want you to particularly pray. God, as we round up the month of August again and we are stepping into September, people will start saying all kinds of things now. But as we are ending August and we are entering into September, four months the year will be over. I want you to pray. Lord, baba, divine instruction, divine light into I don't know which area you want to talk about. Whether it is your career, whether it is your finance, whether it is your health, whether it is your marriage. But the Lord has told us that He will be speaking to us and we should courageously take those steps, we will have harvest. And that harvest will give us lifting. So I want you to talk to the Lord again. Where are you in the midst of all of this instruction? "Oluwa, to mi s'ona." If you have not received something for your harvest, ask the Lord and say God, my life awaits Your instruction. Lord, instruct me. Lord, give me strategic instruction in this area. Where is that area where you look limited, where you look tied down, where it looks like ah, bawo lo se ma ri bayi? Where is that area of challenge? And if God has given instruction and it is courage, God give me courage. Courage to step into these things that You have told me. And if it is that you have been stepping, then open your mouth and ask the Lord, "Lord, I receive Your blessing upon this labor, upon this step that I am taking." He said Isaac sowed in that land and the Lord blessed him. Lord, I receive Your blessing. I receive harvest. It will not be a loss. God said, "Oun a ma kore ni." Lord Almighty, I receive, oh Lord, as I round up the month of August and I step into September. Oh God Almighty, I receive light. If you don't have one yet, pray, pray, pray now and say God, light and direction for my harvest. Where is the area where you need it? Don't settle for that. Speak to God. He gave us the word. He gave us the word. He gave it to us. Thank You, Father. Thank You, Lord. Ma je n wa ba kan na mo for water mi o Jesu For water mi o baba Ma je n wa ba kan na mo For water mi o baba I want you to just turn that word to prayer very briefly. "Mi o ni wa ba kan na." This year will not end the same. No, no, Lord. You said You will prosper us. By His grace, as I move on in this year, the hand of the Lord, the hand of the Lord will address my matter. This year will not end just as I am. No, no, no, Lord. I will have experienced Your instruction, Your light, oh God. Courage to walk in them. And Lord, I will have experienced harvest and I will have experienced lifting. Thank You, Father. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. And lastly, I want us to pray. At one point of Peter's life, he was where he was afraid of death. And honestly, it is the fear of death that's why many of us are not living for God in different things. That's why sometimes we cannot stand for the truth. Sometimes you are just afraid. Look, nothing can just happen to you. No Christian, no saint can be killed except those ordained to be killed. And if you are ordained that you will be martyred, for God, it is because there is a purpose in it. Your blood becomes the seed of the gospel. That's the truth about it. We are here for Him. He created us for His pleasure. Ohun lo l'owo wa, ohun to ba wun lo le fi wa se. That must be clear to us as believers. But one thing that we must know is that He is the best for our life. And so we must be people who are making pledge to say no, wherever the Lord stand, that's where I stand. Whatever the Lord says, that's where I stay. I want us to sing this song, "I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb." I have heard how Christians long ago Were brought before a tyrant's throne They were told that he would spare their lives If they would renounce the name of Christ But one by one they chose to die The Son of God they would not deny Like a great angelic choir sings I can almost hear their voices ring I pledge allegiance to the Lamb With all my strength, with all I am I will seek to honor His commands I pledge allegiance to the Lamb Now the years have come and the years have gone And the cause of Christ still goes on Now our time has come to count the cost To reject this world, to embrace the cross And one by one let us live our lives For the One who died to give us life Till the trumpet sounds on the final day Let us proudly stand and boldly say I pledge allegiance to the Lamb With all my strength, with all I am I will seek to honor His commands I pledge allegiance to the Lamb To the Lamb of God who bore my pain Who took my place, who wore my shame I will seek to honor His commands I pledge allegiance to the Lamb Now our time has come to count the cost, to reject this world, and embrace the cross. And one by one, let us live our lives for the One who died to give us life until the trumpet sounds on the final day. Lord, move me. Move me from the first point of Peter to the second point of Peter. At one point Peter was afraid of death, he denied the Lamb. But at another point, Peter could boldly say, "I pledge allegiance to the Lamb." At one point Peter was afraid, at another point he could pledge his allegiance. Lord, move me that I may grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord. Increase my capacity. Let me move from glory to glory. Father in Jesus' name, Lord we are grateful unto You. Thank You for Your Spirit, thank You for the grace given to us this day. Thank You because we have called upon the Lord that answers prayer. Lord, we believe we have answers to them. We receive them according to Your word. Father in heaven, You are the Lord that give peace. Lord, even as we have called upon You concerning Your children, give peace to Your people in the name of Jesus. Peace for Your children in these places in the name of Jesus. And Lord God Almighty, for our lives we have come, oh Lord, we again confess our loyalty, we rededicate our loyalty, we pledge allegiance to You our King. Help us, oh Lord, Jehovah God, to reject the world consistently and continuously and to embrace the Lord Jesus and His cause in everything that we do in the name of Jesus. We receive from You help, oh Lord, the very present help in time of need. Thank You Father because You have not left us without help. Lord, help us to annex this in the name of Jesus. And Lord for Your promise concerning us this year, Lord as You have spoken we believe You. Cause us to go forth in the remaining of the year, oh Lord, with courage, with confidence, to do all that You have asked us to do in the name of Jesus. Thank You Father for the blessings You have blessed us with today. Blessed be Your name, O Lord our Father. In Jesus' precious name we pray. Amen. The grace in fellowship. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forevermore. Amen. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives, and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever. Amen. Praise the Lord! Our regular activities are: Discipleship class, every Monday 5 p.m.; Adolescents and singles club, every first Saturday of every month at 10 a.m.; Marriage forum, second Saturday of every month at 10 a.m.; Family life seminars, regular school outreaches, and everyday counseling.
