[choral music] [Speaker 1] Churchy fellowships cannot be more spiritual than the individuals and families that constitute them. God greatly desires a godly home for us. These are words of restoration and instruction in righteousness from Family Tent Ministry. May you be blessed as you listen. [Speaker 2] We thank Him for His love in several clear, unambiguous instances. He instructed, counseled, commanded us to pray. We were counseled to pray. We were commanded to pray. We were instructed to pray at different instances in the Bible. And so, as we look into scripture and as we pray this evening, I want you to have this so much at the back of your mind that, number one, prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. And today, as we pray, there will be power and there will be wonderful results in the name of Jesus Christ. Amplified says, "It makes tremendous power available." It makes tremendous power available. As we pray this evening, tremendous power will be available. Available for us, available in our situation, available to deal with our challenges, available to deal with our circumstances, available to live a holy life, available to live a godly life, available to obey God. Power will be available for us in the name of Jesus Christ. In Thessalonians, the Bible says pray without ceasing. And you notice that the Lord Jesus Himself said something. He said, "Can’t you watch with me for one hour?" He desired that the disciples should pray for Him, pray along with Him, showing us the place of prayer. And of course, just before Jesus finished the work of our salvation, that most significant part of the work of our salvation, the suffering, the crucifixion, and the death, we notice that it was made possible after prayer. He prayed. Angels appeared to Him, strengthening Him, and He prayed much more the more and then He rose up to face the cross. So, prayer is something we cannot overemphasize. We cannot overemphasize it. And we want to begin this evening, first and foremost, I want us to begin by giving thanks to the Lord. Giving thanks to the Lord, who has brought us to the last Monday again in the month of September. Let's give thanks to the Lord. Let's appreciate the Lord. Let's bless His holy name. Let's thank Him for this great mercy that has brought us to this time. Let's appreciate Him. Let's give Him glory. Let's give Him praise. Let's say, "Lord, we are grateful. We are indeed grateful. We are indeed grateful. We really, really grateful. We thank You for the great mercy that has brought us thus far. We bless Your holy name. We give You adoration. We bless You, our God. We bless You, our God. We bless You, our God. We bless You, our God. Thank You, eternal Father. Blessed be Your holy name. Blessed be Your holy name." In Jesus' name, we pray. Subsequently, we'll be taking our prayer point from specific aspects of the Bible. And I'll just be taking them one by one. We'll go to Psalm 49 quickly. Psalm 49. We want to take a prayer there from Psalm 49. Psalm 49. We want to pray with this verse of the scripture, Psalm 49:3. Psalm 49:3. I want to bring a prayer point from that place. And I want us to take time to pray with that verse very earnestly. Psalm 49:3. The NLT, I like to take it from the NLT translation. It says, "For my words are wise and my thoughts are filled with insight." Amplified says, "My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be understanding." KJV says, "My mouth shall speak wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding." I want us to pray. If there's anything that is so important today, it is about your thought, your thought life, your meditation. That's why I prefer the NLT. It says, "My thoughts are filled with insight." Your—a man is not greater than his thought. As a man thinks, so he is. And so, if a man's thought is not full of insight, his life can never be full of insight. So, I want us to begin this prayer this evening by praying over your life. Praying for yourself that God—Lord, grant me inspiration that my life shall be full of—my thought shall be full of insight. Let my thought not be vain. Let my thought not be vain thought. Let my thought not be casual. Let my thought be filled with revelations. Let my thought be filled with insight. Cause my thoughts, O Lord, to be filled with insight. Let the meditations of my heart, the meditation of my heart, Lord, I pray they shall be filled with insight. Insight, revelations. God, in the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus. A man is not greater than his thought. As a man thinks, so he is. What when God want to help a man, what God changes in that man is his thinking pattern. God will need to change the way he thinks. I want you to pray that God—Lord God, inspire my thought. Let my thought be filled with inspiration. Let my thought be filled with inspiration, that I may open my mouth with wisdom. That I may open my mouth with wisdom. That same Psalm 49. That same Psalm 49. We're looking at why we are praying, why we are asking for insight, why we are earnestly praying. Please, brethren, be sure you are praying earnestly. Be sure you are not casual in the place of prayer. The Bible says it is the earnest, continued prayer of the righteous man that makes tremendous power available. So, be earnest in your prayer. Look at that same Psalm 49:20. It says, "A man who is held in honor and understands not is like a beast that perish." That's Amplified. King James says, "Man that is in honor, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish." NLT says, "People who boast of their wealth don't understand that they will die just like animals." But I want us to look at it from the standpoint of the Amplified Bible and the KJV translation. If a man is in honor and he lacks understanding, that man will not be different from a beast. He's not different. He's not different. I am saying this because I saw something very serious in the Bible. I will not be able to read all of these references because I really want us to pray. But let me just mention one or two of them. If you look at when God was trying to show Daniel the various kingdoms of this world, you will notice that God represent the kings and their kingdom by animals. He will tell you about a ram, a beast that look like a leopard and then like a lion, and then again that look like this, like that, a ram with two horns. If you go to Revelation, when God again was showing John the kingdoms of the world, you will notice again He talked about a beast with seven horns, a beast with seven horns, ten heads and ten crowns. What I'm trying to make you see is that because these men, they don't understand. These kings are kings who do not fear God, who don't understand. You can see that the spiritual revelation of these kings is in form of what? In form of beast. Anytime a man lacks understanding, the implication of that man's life is that he's not different from a beast. He's not different. He is not different. So, I want you to pray. We're still praying about this matter of understanding. We are praying about the matter of understanding. That Lord, open my mind that I may understand scripture. Open my mind that I will not lack understanding. Lord, understanding is the key. Lord, open my eyes. The Bible says and Jesus opened the mind of the disciples that they can understand. I want you to pray that God—Lord, open my mind. Lord, open my eyes, open my mind. Once you lack understanding, the value of your life, if they put your life on a scale, you will not be different from goat. You will not be different from lion. You will not be different from animal. You will not be different from the beast. The total worth of your life, of course, you may have money, you may be in honor, you may have so many things, but that once you lack understanding, the real value of your life is that you don't worth more than animal. The rating for your life is the rating of animal. And that is why what really makes a man a man is not money. What really makes a man a man is not riches. What really makes a man a man is not education. What really makes a man a man is not marriage. What really makes a man a man is not wealth. What really makes a man a man is not financial prosperity. All of these are good and they are important. But what really makes a man a true human being in the image of God is understanding. Is that the man can understand. He can understand. So, I want you to pray that God—God, that I will not lack understanding. I will understand God. I will understand the ways of God. I will understand the mind of God. I will understand the things of God. God, that I will understand. Grant me understanding in the name of Jesus. Grant me understanding in the name of Jesus. Thank You, eternal Father. In Jesus' name, we pray. Having taken those two open, general prayers, I want us to come to specific prayers that are related to the matters we have been raising in the course of the month. You remember we have been looking at Luke chapter 12. Luke chapter 12. Let's go to that scripture. Luke chapter 12, from verse 32 to verse 38. That's the scripture we have been considering for the past two, three weeks. Luke chapter 12, from verse 32. It says, "Fear not. Fear not, little flock. For it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that you have, or sell what you possess and give donations to the poor. Provide yourselves with purses and handbags that do not grow old, an unfailing and inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Keep your loins girded and your lamps burning." I like the NLT. "Be dressed for service and keep your lamp burning as though waiting for your master to return from a wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in at once when he arrives and knocks. The servant which are ready and are waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, He Himself will seat them and put on an apron and serve them as they sit and eat. He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn, but whenever he comes, he will reward the servant who are ready." I want us to look at that scripture. Fear not, little flock. It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. And I want us to begin to take prayer points based on the last three weeks' teachings. Number one, it says, "Fear not. Fear not, little flock. Fear not. It is your Father's good will to give you the kingdom." We said something. We said a man who does not feel secured in his sonship will always live in fear. He will always be afraid. And I want you to begin to pray for yourself alongside this understanding. You see, fear is the opposite of faith. Once a man is afraid, it is because there is no faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So, if you are afraid, it's because you are not hearing God's word. It's because the word of God is not coming to you. If you have fear, if you are not secured in your sonship, it's because the word of God is not coming to you. I want you to pray this evening. It's not, "God, help me not to fear." No. Because with fear, it's the word of God don't come to you. I want you to pray rather. Baba, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Baba, I pray as often as I look into scripture, as often as I do my quiet time, God, let Your word come to me. Let Your word come. It is that word that brings faith. It is that faith that handles fear. The word of God brings faith and then faith takes away fear. I want you to pray that God, anytime I come before Your word, anytime I come to the place of prayer, Baba, let Your word come. Baba, send Your word. Bible said He sent His word and His word healed them and delivered them from their destruction. You want to say, "God, I beseech You. Every time I come for my quiet time, every time I read the scripture, every time, O God, I come before Your word, Baba, let Your word come to me. Let Your word come to me. Let Your word—the living word, the Rhema of scripture. The Rhema, the living revelation. The living revelation in the word of God. Not just Bible knowledge, but an encounter with the truth, an encounter with the living word of God. Lord, grant me encounter with the living word." That Lord, fear may give way for faith in my heart. Fear, fear, fear. You fear this, you fear that, you fear you will not make it, you fear it will not be well, you fear you will not get to heaven, you fear you will backslide, you fear you may not do it right. You have so many fears. You fear because there is no faith. Faith cannot come except the word of God comes. I want you to pray. Baba, Baba, I pray today. Baba, I want every fear in me to give way for faith. I want every fear in me to give way for faith. Lord, let Your word come to me. Ah, Oluwa, let Your word come to me. Let Your word, the living word, the Rhema of scripture. The living revelation, the living revelation in the word of God. Not just Bible knowledge, but an encounter with the truth, an encounter with the living word of God. I want to encounter Jesus. I want to encounter Jesus. I want to encounter Jesus. I said there is a great difference between Bible knowledge and truth. Even though there's a thin line between them. There's a thin line between Bible knowledge and the truth. I said, however, the difference is a matter of life and death, light and darkness. You see, if you don't encounter the living word of God, your life will still be in darkness. And that is why you will be afraid. You notice that anytime it is dark, you have fear. When you walk in darkness, if you are to walk through this ile-i-re street in the dark, you will be afraid. But when you walk in the day, you will not be afraid. There is something about darkness. Darkness brings fear. And you see, anytime you are reading the Bible and you don't have the light of the truth, you are in darkness. And so, you will not be able to—you will not be able to take away fear. You will not be able to live in faith. You will always be afraid. And let me tell you one thing, the fearful don't have part in the kingdom of God. The fearful, awon t’oba n’mokan won ma k’injọba Ọlọrun. Heaven is not meant for cowards. That's why He said God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind. You're afraid of this, afraid of tomorrow, afraid you will not make it in life, afraid your marital life will not work, afraid this will not work, afraid you may die of poverty, afraid if you grow old, you may not get something to eat, afraid. You are just always living in fear. It is because you have not encountered the living word of God. And that is why we are praying. Lord, I don't want to remain in darkness. We have been talking about something in the course of the month. We said hope, even the hope of our salvation, was berthed. It was given birth to at the peak of hopelessness. It was when Jesus suffered the crucifixion, He died and was buried, that was when resurrection started. It was when the enemy did their worst that hope came alive. And we said God—the design of God is that we should not be hopeless. But also remember that hope is the solid foundation for faith. Once you are hopeless, you cannot have faith. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for. The assurance of things hoped for. So, hope is the solid foundation for faith. And we look into the scripture. We saw that in Romans 15, the Bible talks about the hope and the encouragement of scripture. I want you to pray for your life. I want you to pray for yourself. There is hope and encouragement that comes from scripture. There is an encouragement and hope that comes from scripture. And I want you to pray that for yourself. That Lord, that Lord, remove far from me hopelessness. Remove far—it doesn't matter the situation that I may be in at any time. Lord, remove far from me hopelessness. Baba, grant unto me the encouragement and hope that comes from scripture. Baba, there is an encouragement and a hope. It comes from scripture. You want to say, "God, remove far from me hopelessness. Hopelessness is not the portion of the believer. The believer must not come to a point where he becomes hopeless. It doesn't matter how it looks. Once you are coming to that point in your life, it's because the encouragement of the scripture is not coming to you. Look, if the encouragement of the scripture comes to you, you can never be hopeless. It becomes impossible to be hopeless. You will be always full of hope. Even against hope, you will hope in hope. Proverbs 24:10. Proverbs 24:10. Amplified says, "If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small." KJV says—NLT says, "If you fall under pressure, your strength is too small." You remember that we looked at Saul, King Saul, last week. His life came under pressure and he fell. He was supposed to wait. He was supposed to wait until Samuel arrived. But the pressure seemed to be too much. The pressure seemed to be much. And before you knew it, what happened to him? He fell under pressure. The Bible says, "If you fall under pressure, your strength is small." And if you look at that same Proverbs, chapter 23, it says something that tells us something about strength. Something about strength. 24 was telling us that "If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small." Whereas 23 makes us to understand that a man of knowledge increases in strength. When there is knowledge, a man of knowledge has strength. Let me show you again in another scripture. You remember Daniel 11:32. What does it says? "The people that know their God shall be strong." So, if you fall under pressure, it's because you don't know God. That's the truth. The people that know their God, they will not fall under pressure. They will not fall. No matter the pressure. So, when the Bible says, "If you fall under pressure," it's because your strength is small. What He's saying is that it's because you know God very little. O m'Ọlọrun. So, I want you to pray. The reason why Saul fell was because his strength was small. He could not endure till the time of his visitation. Immediately he finished that sacrifice, his visitation came. What a waste. You will not miss your visitation in Jesus' name. I want you to pray. Lord, Baba, that I may know You. You see, when you begin to know God, that is the source of strength. What makes people not to faint is that they know and they understand God. When you begin to know and understand God, it will increase your strength. So, no matter the pressure, you will not fall. He didn't change up, he didn't change his mind. He was prepared to face the consequence. So, we can now understand that the secret of the strength of Daniel was that he knew God. Because it is the same Daniel who later said the people who know their God shall be strong and do exploit. The people who don't know their God shall be weak and be exploited. I want you to pray. And we saw a lot of things. Barak was delivered, but he was not honored. We saw that for God, God want to deliver us and He want to honor us. And I want you to pray, a prayer point is coming up in my heart. As we want to look at Deborah and Barak, I want you to pray. You will notice that when God was to bring deliverance to Israel through Deborah and Barak—it was supposed to be through Barak, but it now became through Deborah and Barak. If you look at that incident, you will notice that what God did was that God gave instruction. Barak, go to Naphtali in Zebulun. Gather so-so number of men. Bring them to Mount Tabor. I will draw Sisera. You will kill him. He gave instruction. Last week, we also talked—we also made reference to Jesus and the turning of water to wine. You will notice again that to turn that water to wine, what did He do again? He gave instruction. Go and fetch water. Pour it inside the bowl, inside the bushes, and draw it out and go and serve it. Then they also went. They did as the Lord said and then they were no more stranded. They got out of that situation of running out of wine. You see what I'm trying to make you see? Anytime God want to deliver you, He will give you instruction. When God want to take you out of any situation, He will tell you something to do. That's why the Bible says, "Have you seen a man who is diligent in his work? He will not stand before mere men, he will stand before kings." That is why diligence and hard work is a part and parcel of the way God blesses us. It's a part and parcel of the way God increases us. God Himself worked. Jesus said, "I will do the work of Him that has called me." He was working. When God want to get you out of a situation, He will tell you what to do. I will remind you again. We did not get to those examples because I don't know whether we—whether we'll still continue biblical example next week by the time we are moving on in October or God will be taking us in another direction. But I want to make reference to one of the biblical example we are supposed to consider if we are to continue. You remember the widow who was the wife of one of the son of the prophet that died? Who came to Elisha and said the husband died and now the debtors they came and she does not have the way out? That Elisha should please deliver them. What was she given? She was given instruction. They told her, "Go and borrow kegs. Gather them inside your house. After you have borrowed it, the one that have oil, begin to pour it, pour it, pour it, pour it. Gather plenty, O!" She poured and poured and poured. Immediately all the containers she borrowed got exhausted, the oil stopped pouring. She now went back to the man of God. "Man of God, the thing have stopped." He said, "Okay, go and sell." Do you see work again? God gave Him a business idea. Something run through my spirit now. I pray for you this evening. You will not lack ideas. Oh! Please, pray. The first one is about yourself and your household and everybody that is connected to you. That's the first one. You want to pray that God almighty, the month of October for me, O Lord, I pray. Let every man know that this Pharaoh came to a point as rebellious as wicked as diabolic as he was. He and his magician they said, "Ah, this is the finger of the Lord." Lord, that is what we want.
