[Background music: Choir singing "He has loosed the faithful..."]
[Narrator]
Churches and fellowships cannot be more spiritual than the individuals and families that constitute them. God greatly desires a godly home front. These are words of restoration and instruction in righteousness from Family Tent Ministry. May you be blessed as you listen.
[Speaker 1]
Jehovah is your name. Mighty warrior, great in battle, Jehovah is your name. How familiar are you with that song? It's like I'm the only one singing, that's why I'm asking. I should take a more familiar one. A more familiar one? A more familiar one? Okay.
We are grateful, O Lord. We are grateful, Father. We are grateful, O Lord, for you have done for us. Amen, Hallelujah. We are grateful, O God. We are grateful, Jesus. We are grateful, O Lord. We are grateful, Master. We are grateful, O Lord, for you have done for us. Amen, Hallelujah. We are grateful, O Lord.
We want to say that you are good, and all the miracles you have done has brought us joy. And we are changed, and all the hope we have, we place in you right now. O Father, we declare. Father, we declare that we love all of you. We declare an everlasting love for you. O Lord, we declare. Father, we declare that we love all of you. We declare an everlasting love for you.
Lord indeed we are grateful. Lord indeed we are grateful. Lord indeed we declare an everlasting love. Because, Lord, your love for us is an everlasting one. The Bible says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in this Son should not perish but have everlasting life. For the Father sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that through him the world might be saved. He who believe in him is not condemned, but he who believe not is condemned already. Lord, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Lord, we thank you for this love. We give you glory. We give you honor. We give you adoration.
We thank you, Lord our God, for despite the diverse occurrences in 2020, Lord, by your mercy, because your compassion fails not, you brought us through the whole of that year and you have brought us into 2021. Lord God, we worship you. Lord, we thank you. We can think back to the incidence of death, occurrences of strange happenings, and so many things that befell, happened in 2020. But Lord, we are here. We are in the new year. We are not taking all of this for granted, Lord. We are saying, Baba, we are grateful. Accept our thanks in Jesus' name.
Lord, again we are thanking you for this special edition of our Singles Club that we are combining with the adolescents. This special edition of Adolescent and Singles Club that will be holding for January and then for February before we split back again into our regular meetings. Lord our God, we thank you for this opportunity. We thank you for individuals who are here physically with us, and we are appreciating you for everybody who are linking up with us online. Lord our God, we bring both congregations together, the physical people, the online brethren. We say, Lord, let your Spirit work within us all in the name of Jesus Christ.
Lord our God, we pray. The Bible says the entrance of your word gives light and understanding to the simple. Let there be light. Let there be understanding in the name of Jesus Christ. Our eyes are on you, O Lord. We are trusting you for instruction. We are trusting you for direction. We are trusting you for words of life that can carry us through 2021. Lord our God, we pray there shall be direction. There shall be instruction. There shall be words of life in the name of Jesus. You will speak to us collectively. You will also meet with us individually in such a way, Lord, that your name alone will be glorified and your people shall be edified. And Lord, for individuals who are yet to truly encounter Jesus, Lord, we pray. No man can come to you except you draw him. Lord, such life will receive a draw of God today in the name of Jesus Christ. A specific call of God in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you, eternal Father. Blessed be your holy name our God. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen, and amen, and amen. Praise the Lord.
This is a special edition of this program and honestly, I'm glad to see several new faces. Some are still coming anyway. And I just begin to wonder in myself as we are gathering now because during the lockdown incidence of COVID-19, we that gathered here became very little. Those that gathered online increased in number. So sometimes we can be three here, they will be eighty online. So when we were calling for a physical meeting and an online meeting today, we were not even envisaging that we will need more chairs. As I'm seeing the chairs filling up, I'm just saying God. But no matter how it happens, we can still get chairs. No matter how it goes, we can get chairs around because I know that since other people said they will be here and they are not yet here, I know there will be enough room in the Father's house to take them in the name of Jesus Christ.
I'm personally glad having a lot of new faces and what I quickly want to do before we go into some of the main things—because the Adolescent arm of Family Tent Ministry, they have a special they want to give us. They have been rehearsing their specials, rehearsing their specials, and they want to bring that special to this meeting today. As I'm talking now, they are just waiting for me to say, "Daddy, is it time to take the mic so that we can have the stage?" Don't worry, you will still have the stage. But before we do that, I want a situation where the other mic—we can just quickly, even though I know many of the people that are here, but it's also good for us to introduce, not for me, for the congregation. For us to say one or two things about ourselves, who we are and what we do. It will go a long way as we start. You first went this way, somebody said the mic should go that way, you quickly went that way again. Whatsoever happens, the mic should go this way, you will run this way again. So, tell us who you are, your name and what you do. Yes, we want to hear from you.

[Adolescent Group singing]
If you don't bless, if you don't bless me, where shall I go?
Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere.
So I, I, I, I, I run to you. I run to you, Jesus.
I, I, I run to you. I run to you, run to you, run to you.
I, I, I run to you. I run to you, I run to you.
I, I, I run to you.
If you don't help, if you don't help me, where shall I go?
Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere.
If you don't help, if you don't help me, where shall I go?
Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere.
So I, I, I, I, I run to you. I run to you, Jesus.
I, I, I run to you. I run to you, run to you, run to you.
I, I, I run to you. I run to you, I run to you.
I, I, I run to you.
So from the pages of my heart, let my worship begin for never end to the God of all flesh.
From the pages of my heart, let my worship begin for never end to the God of all flesh.
For He is my God and His name is Yahweh. His name is Yahweh, Yahweh, Yahweh.
For He is my God and His name is Yahweh. His name is Yahweh, Yahweh, Yahweh.
For He is my God and His name is Yahweh. His name is Yahweh, Yahweh, Yahweh.
At the center of it all, it's You that I see. It's You that I see.
At the center of it all, it's You that I see. It's You that I see.
Miracles working in Your way. Miracles working in Your name.
As we lift our voice to sing, it's You that I see. It's You that I see.
So if You don't help, if You don't help me, where shall I go?
Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere.
If You don't help, if You don't help me, where shall I go?
Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere.
So I, I, I, I, I run to you. I run to you, Jesus.
I, I, I run to you. I run to you, run to you, run to you.
I, I, I run to you. I run to you, Jesus.
I, I, I run to you.
If You don't help, if You don't help me, where shall I go?
Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere.
If You don't help, if You don't help me, where shall I go?
Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere.
Nowhere. Thank you.
[Speaker 1]
Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Wow. I pray for you that in righteousness you will be established. From oppression you will be far. And as you are starting gradually with the Lord, you will go yet yonder in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord will increase you and His hand will be mighty upon you in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray that among your equals you will be distinguished. Where men fall you will stand. Where they stand you will stand out. And where they stand out you will outstand in the name of Jesus Christ. That was a wonderful one. That was a wonderful one. Honestly, it was a wonderful one. Our adolescent, that was a wonderful one. And I trust the Lord that more and more we'll be having you. I believe you are preparing for the bigger meeting in February. Am I correct? The bigger meeting in February. We trust God that it is going to be more than this. It's going to be greater because the end of a thing is always better than the beginning. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
We'll be getting more information along as we go on but quickly I want us to interact from the scripture. I want us to look at the word of God. I want us to relate together on something that is very, very crucial to this meeting. Normally, Singles Club is always a two-hour meeting. Adolescent Club is always a two-hour meeting. So we are trusting the Lord that we will not go beyond that time. We'll be able to work within that time. So quickly I want to—I want us to look at something from the word of God. I want us to interact from scriptures. I said interact because it is a club. In the church when your pastor preaches, what do you do? What do you do? You just listen. You don't say, "Excuse me sir, that thing you said is not clear." Do you? You don't. So, when I say we want to interact, I'm saying that it's not like what you have in the church where you cannot ask questions, where you cannot say something is not clear. That's why we call it Singles Club. It's a club. It's a club and honestly, it has been God since we started 1999. It has been God. Several people have come, passed through, moved on in life and you that we are meeting again today, we are trusting the Lord that the Lord will locate you. That's one thing God has always done with those that come around us. Somehow God locates them and beyond that, the Lord will place you in the name of Jesus Christ.
I'm saying that because honestly, if not for God, I don't think anybody here would be younger than me when I became very notorious. I think I was around nine when I began to smoke Indian hemp. Is there anybody here below nine? So that means nobody could be younger than me when I became very, very notorious. I'm not talking of cigarette, I'm talking of Indian hemp. I became very, very notorious. But somehow, somehow, somehow, somehow, the Lord did something. I was located and I was placed. And today it's a different story. It's a different story. So that's why I pray that in the scheme of things of God, you will be located. You will be located. I can speak from all experience. I've experienced both sides. Think of the worst you can do outside God, we have done it. And coming into God again, we have experienced God. And having—there's this adage among Yorubas, "T'obinrin o ba ti fẹ...". Who can help me finish it among the... Don't worry, you'll soon finish it. [speaks in Yoruba] "T'obinrin o ba ti fẹ..." You didn't do Yoruba in secondary school? Nobody did Yoruba in secondary school? Don't lie to your teacher. [speaks in Yoruba] "T'obinrin o ba ti fẹ... ko kin mọ eyi t'o dagba..." Now, I have tasted both worlds. Both sides. I've been at that side: masturbation, pornography, fornication—you just think about all of them. Then the height was criminality, extortion. [speaks in Yoruba] "Kọri iwa bayii pe iwa, bata to wọ yii, ṣe o ri pe o fit mi. Oya, fi simi lẹsẹ. O ni rara. Waa! Fi simi lẹsẹ! Yes sir." Those kind of extortion. We were the masters of the hand. It was a very ruthless life. Is it party? Night parties, white parties.
I don't know which one you are still doing now but I'm telling you where we traveled to. The devil took me very, very, very, very far. Very, very, very far. But somehow again, God located me and God placed me. You will be located and you will be placed in the name of Jesus Christ. Honestly, there is nothing as wonderful as having a right sense of purpose. I try to place myself today by my friends. Those of you who know Lagos very well, I grew up in Ajegunle. Ajegunle is the place where criminals are produced in Lagos. When I place myself by those my friends then, after God first—God first, the first thing was that God located me. When I was located and I then went—they saw me carry my Bible. You know then there's nothing like e-Bible, everything was hard. I still have my hard Bible anyway because this one affords me several translations. So I can have up to seven, eight, nine, ten translations which you cannot—I cannot carry eight Bibles at the same time. But you carry my Bible and then they look at me, "Ah! Oya Wole, ah you don join mumu people. Hey, sorry for your life." "So you too go dey do 'Ah, mumu Jesus, mumu.' You go do like that now. Hey, I pity you, your life don finish." That was the statement.
But today I try to place my life with those my—they continued somehow. I try to place my life with them. Do you know that of about—we should be about twenty-one. Of that twenty-one, the only three or four people I can say they are responsible in society today are those of us that met with Jesus. The other like about eighteen or nineteen, about fifteen of them were killed in different operations. [speaks in Yoruba] "Eyi to jade, t'o l'ogu pa, eyi t'ọlọpaa pa," like that, like that, like that. And the other ones that are there today, even though they are still in Ajegunle, they are there, they are alive, they are nobodies. When they now see us, you know what they do? Let me explain some of the things that happen to us so that you understand it. You know if you finish secondary school and you have not gained admission—I don't know whether you experience it—you have not gained admission. They will now meet your colleagues who have gained admission that you both left secondary school together. When you first meet each other, somehow you will be ashamed. You will say, "I'm in Federal University Akure!" "I am in OAU, Ife!" Quickly you will—you will not want to—why? Because you have not been placed. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? You will not want to be in that category. So, you will just say, "Me, I am this... about entering into..." You just look for one name because you don't want to look very different. Do you understand me? You don't want to pair up. That is what I'm saying now. Those of them that are alive now, when they see us, they hide. They don't come again into our category. They can't—they just see somebody and say, "Ah, Oya Wole de n bọ. Ah, Oya Wole na lecturer now. Hey, he don finish in PhD o. He de lecture for Uni. Eh! Ah!" They just say, "Ah, eh, eh." They have become irrelevant. May you not become irrelevant among your generation. May you not become somebody that you—you cannot stand tall among your equals. It's not a good thing. It's not a good thing. And how does that happen? It happens when a life is not properly located. When a life is not properly located.
That's why my particular burden for this meeting are those two things I've told you: that you be located and you be placed. And I just want to share with you something very, very simple. Honestly, very, very simple. It is because it is so simple, that is why many times we don't even notice that "Eh! So this is it? Eh!" It's as simple as this, honestly it is as simple as that. It is because it is not complex, it is very simple, that is why many times people miss them. As we begin the journey of 2021, the burden for this January and February meeting is stepping right. Stepping right. Step, step. Step one, step two, step three, step four. Stepping right. Stepping right. That's the burden. To step correctly, not step, step. You are stepping and you are stepping right. Your steps are right. Every day you are taking a step. Every day, what are you doing? You are taking a step. What I mean by that is that I remember if you take some years back, Tumininu was just one girl like this. One baby—if I'm correct Tumininu, she was one baby like that. Decisions began to join decisions, decisions was joining decisions, decision was joining decisions, and today she cannot tell us exactly when she became this tall. [speaks in Yoruba] "Abajọ t'o ga to eleyi, ṣe o le sọ ọjọ t'o fọ fun wa?" She can't tell us.
The same thing, I can't tell you when I attained this height. But every day, I'm taking a step. Attaining different heights in life, physical life—I'm talking about biological life, your physical life. You are taking a step. You are taking a step and you are attaining different heights in life. Now, as we take those steps, as we take steps, one very important thing is whether the steps are right or the steps are wrong. Those steps. And what I want to share with you is something very simple that has to do with stepping right, particularly as you begin the journey of 2021. If you have been stepping right, you will see it from this discussion. Then the encouragement will be please do what? Continue much more the more. If you have not been stepping right—you get the point I'm making—it will be to say, "Ah, wow." Like I wasn't stepping right when I started as a child. I was growing up in the street of Ajegunle and [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹni kan na ni o. His name is actually Latee, we call him Bọda Latee. But his alias is 'Let-wa'." You know the way Desola will say "Desi", or [speaks in Yoruba] "Bọni", we say "I'm Bọni". So his own alias is "Let-wa". He just met us one day, "Ah, ẹyin ọmọ," you know we were a little much older than us. He said, "Ah, bawo ni, bawo ni, bawo ni? Kinni kan, ẹ jẹ ka jade, kinni kan, kinni kan." And then we just went out, we didn't know where we were going. That was my initiation into how to start smoking Indian hemp. We just got to the place, [speaks in Yoruba] "Oya ẹ gbe, ẹ gbe." We didn't even know what we were doing at first. "Ah, bawo ni, ṣebi o dun?" "Bẹẹni, o bẹdun!" We... my goodness. May you not come among wrong complaints. May you not come among wrong complaints. It was a very, very wrong—that was how it started.
So, my steps were not right. But you know one thing, if a man is consistently—what you call tomorrow, the future—[speaks in Yoruba] "O dabi ẹni pe kinni kan t'o jin ni." The future looks very, very far. But what is the future? The future is actually the result of today. Many todays make the tomorrow. Do you understand? Many todays make the tomorrow. So tomorrow is a product of today. So that if somebody is casually—[speaks in Yoruba] "Aye ẹ kan wa ṣa, o kan n lo ṣa, very casually, o kan n ṣ'aye ẹ bẹyẹn lọ ṣa. To ba ma ya o," after some time, the life will become a casualty because it was casual. [speaks in Yoruba] "O kan wa ṣa, t'o ba ti ma ya, wọn a sọ pe eeyan n dagba. O n da, o n da lọ ni. O ma n dagba." You are turning to something based on the decisions that you are taking. Do you understand? [speaks in Yoruba] "O n dagba. O ti dagba," you know what they mean? "O ti da awọn decisions t'o n take." Do you get it? So what you call "agba" is a product of several decisions that you are taking. But if somebody is deliberate with his life on a daily basis, after some time, he will become responsible.
And honestly, the burden for this meeting came in the course of a prayer. That is why I'm saying that you—because I know you are not the only one listening to us. There are several people online that are listening to us across the nation. The burden for this meeting came in the course of a prayer. I was just praying and the Lord showed me a very simple thing in the Bible. A very simple thing. And as I began to look at that very simple thing, it began to become something very big. Very, very big. And I just want to show you the simplicity of what the Lord showed me before I will now make it very big. Look at, those of you that have your Bible with you, if you came with it—it's a club, but if you are here with your Bible, open it. And if you have it on your phone, you can also open it on your phone. Look at something in 2 Timothy chapter 3. 2 Timothy chapter 3. Are you there? Are you there? Now look at what the Bible says from verse 1. The Bible says, "But this know"—"But this know." It may be looking, it may be happening to you as if it is strange, but please it is not strange. It's not strange. The Lord wants you to know. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ọlọrun fẹ ka mọ nkan kan." He say, "No, this know. Know it." Don't be thinking it's just [speaks in Yoruba] "o kan dede n ṣẹlẹ, ko dede n ṣẹlẹ. Ko dede n ṣẹlẹ. Oluwa fẹ ka mọ. Know." What should you know? "But this know, that difficult times will come in the last days." Difficult times. Times that are very, very difficult. He said you should know it. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹ ma kọrọ pe nkan kan o kọ dẹde ma n ṣẹlẹ. Bibilẹ fẹ ka mọ pe o ma ṣẹlẹ. It's going to happen."
Are times difficult today? [speaks in Yoruba] "Igba ta wa yii," are they difficult times? Are they difficult times? It's difficult times. Very, very—very, very cruel time. I remember, I don't know whether you—you knew when it happened. Two students of the university, they went out, they were both friends, they went out on a bike. And then later, the bike, that same bike was bringing back—was to bring them back, but was bringing back one. And the bike man became very, very suspicious. "But I took two people to this place. Why is it that only one person is coming back?" And so—the long and short of that story because I don't want to take so much time with the story, was that even though those two people were friends, one of them arranged the friend for money rituals. And they went as friend to the ritualist. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ọrẹ mi jẹ ka jọ de ibi kan." And by the time that girl was coming back from the bike, the other one has been killed for that purpose. Such that by the time the bike man will bring people to the place and all of that, the other girl was already dead. Two friends. You will be thinking it is your enemy that will do something evil but this one it was a friend. Are you understanding me? Somewhere around FUTA here, something happened. The father of the girl was just weeping profusely. What happened? The friend called her friend. She's at home, just called her friend. "Tomiwa! Oya come, come, come jare, let's discuss something." She left her house to meet her friend in the house. When she got to the place, it's her friend that called her. She didn't see the friend that called her to come to the house. But she saw the brother of the friend. And said, "Ah, where is my friend? She called me," and said, "Yes, yes, yes, she's inside." So she went inside. As she went inside, the brother closed the door, lock, close and lock the door. Inside were other boys and the girl was gang-raped, called by her friend. All of them slept with the girl. It's a—it's a difficult time. [speaks in Yoruba] "Igba ta wa yii, awọn nkan t'ẹ n l'ọrọ po le ma ṣẹlẹ, awọn lo n ṣẹlẹ. Things you cannot imagine could happen, happen." [speaks in Yoruba] "Abẹyẹ o gbọ nkan kan? Ẹ o gbọ nkan kan?" If I tell you to start telling me story now, won't you have story to tell me? You will have. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹ ma n story lati sọ, oriṣiriṣi lẹ ma le sọ." So, the Bible says [speaks in Yoruba] "ẹ ma kọrọ pe nkan kan o kan dede ma n ṣẹlẹ." The Bible says you should know that it will come. Know it. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ko kọ dẹde ma ṣẹlẹ, it's going to happen."
But look at what the Bible says about why it will happen. Look at what the Bible says. It says, "For men shall be"—verse 2—"lovers of," what? "Lovers of themselves." Only themselves. [speaks in Yoruba] "Kil'o n fa? Kil'o n fa difficult time?" Number one, men shall be lovers of—number two? Lovers of money. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹni t'ọlọfẹ ṣ'ogo owó." Lovers of money. [speaks in Yoruba] "Egò, kúdi, owó." Look at the next thing: boasters. What is the next thing? Proud. What is the next thing? Blasphemers. What is the next thing? That is what the Lord called my attention to. "Disobedient to parents."
You'll be saying, "Ah, what is so important about disobedience to parents?" The Lord just called my attention to that verse of the scripture. Disobedient—that one thing that is making things hard and difficult for young people, for young people, is what? Is what? One of them is what? Disobedient to parents. You'll be saying, "Ah, disobedient to parents? Kil'o fun fi wa important?" Do you know that for instance, the authority of parents is something that is so much there even into young adulthood until you get to a point in life where the Bible says "a man shall do," what? "Leave father and mother." Leaving father and mother is not adolescent, it's who? It must be a single adult. Am I correct? So you notice that even at that point, the Bible is still recognizing that the point of departure is father and mother. At that point. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ko si bo ṣe ma dagba dagba dagba to," by the time you want to finally settle down and say, "I want to start my own family," who will they ask for? "Where is your father? Where is your mother?" If you say they are dead, they'll say, "Don't you have uncle?" [speaks in Yoruba] "Baba baba nkọ? Aburo baba nkọ?" They will be asking questions. [speaks in Yoruba] "Abi mo parọ ni? No."
As I was looking at that verse, what is it that transcended to my mind? What was it that transcended to my mind? Note the word "disobedient to father, disobedient to parents." Stepping right. Stepping right. Don't forget our topic: stepping right. Look at it, Ephesians chapter 6. Ephesians 6. What do you see in Ephesians 6? "Children," do what? Do what? "Obey your parents," where? "In the Lord. For what?" "For this is right." Do what again? "Honor father and mother," which is what? "Is the first commandment with," what? "With promise." That what? "That it may be well with you and that you may live long on earth." What is that scripture trying to say? [speaks in Yoruba] "Ki ni Bibeli yẹn n sọ? What is it trying to say?" Combine it with where we are coming from: disobedient to parents. And now, "Honor father and mother is the first command with promise, that it may be well with you and that you may live long." So, combine it. What is the scripture trying to say? If you look at that scripture and this scripture, what is it trying to say? What are the—what are the possible consequences of children being disobedient to parents? What are the possible consequences? From the scripture that we have read.
She said premature death. Is she correct? Is she correct? Look at the scripture: "That it may be well with you and that you may live long." Is premature death a possibility? It's a possibility. Okay, what else again do you see in that place? It may not be well with you. I'm allowing you to say it because do you know one thing that I want to tell you about 2021? Get it clear. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ayé o le pada s'ẹyin mọ." Evil men and seducers, they will wax worse and what? Worse. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ayé a ma buru si ni, okunkun yẹn a ma pọ si ni, a ma lọ si, it will be getting darker and darker." But get this clear. Get this clear. You know what the Lord was trying to make me understand is this: one provision God has made for your life—one provision, so that you will not step into death, is what? "Honor your father and your mother." There is no—there is not going to be a voice that will say, "Favor, favor, favor, favor, favor, bo ṣe n lọ yẹn, iku lo n bọ o. Obey your father and mother ki iku ma baa pa ẹ." There will be no voice. But I'm telling you that one major point of not being cut short or cut down, not experiencing the evil of today, is what? Is what? To honor father and to honor mother. You see, "Ah, how does that—what am I trying to say? How does it go together?"
I told you that I've been on both sides. Do you know that anytime we want to journey those journeys I told you about—I told you the journey of masturbation, the journey of fornication, the journey of homosexuality, the journey of—you know all those evil journeys, before the Lord located me. Anytime we want to journey, you know what we will do? We will always bypass—I will always bypass my mother. We will create the impression—[speaks in Yoruba] "a ṣebi ẹni pe nkan ọtọ la n ṣe, but nkan mi la n ṣe." We will create the impression as if we are doing something else. We'll create the impression as if we are doing good things, but actually what we are doing are those things. Are you understanding me? Let me give you a good example when you say "honor father and mother." If I want to watch pornography on this phone, will I stand by my parents and say, "Ah, o bẹ lọ ṣe n ṣe. Daddy, mommy ẹ wa wo nkan yẹn... Ah-ah, kinni yẹn interesting o." Is that what you are going to do? What are you going to do? If you are watching it and your daddy is to pass by, what do you do? You just minimize that screen, you open another screen. "Ah! Abẹjoye, ha! Ṣẹri adeu...". And when they are gone, you minimize again, you open the other screen, you continue. Are you understanding me? How are we able to continue in a path of destruction? Because we refuse to honor who? Father and who? Mother.
If, like me, you are not married but you are having sex, fornication—you have a boyfriend, you have a girlfriend. These are reality. I'm saying them because God has delivered me from them. And I can tell you that there is nothing about them. We went all those journeys before God brought us back. When you want to go, you say, "Daddy, mo fẹ lọ ki Johnson. Mo fẹ lọ sun kọ'ni, mo n bọ." How many of you can do that? Nobody can do it. What's the—normally if—please help me with your name again. Tomi is the boyfriend, Akure mo n lọ o. "Daddy, mo fẹ lọ ki Happiness. There is this assignment sọnika ṣe n school." And then look at me, Daddy will see me going like this to Happiness's house. When I notice that I've entered a corner and you are not seeing me, what do I do? And I take the other corner. [speaks in Yoruba] "Haha! Mo ti de jare. Ọrọ ta jọ sọ yẹn, ẹh." And then when I'm through, even if I'm there, I mistakenly mommy call. "Joke! Hello, hello, nibo lo wa? Mo wa ni igboro. Nibo, nibo lo wa bayi bayi? Ẹhn, mo wa ni ile—ni ile awọn Happiness." You know, you know, are you understanding me? "Ẹhn, so to ba ti kuro nbẹ kọ bọ... Yes ma, yes ma, yes ma!" You want to quickly drop the phone so that they will not go and ask one question that you will not be able to answer. You want the conversation to finish on time because you know you are not in the right place. How are you able to continue with fornication in your parents' house? How? Because you could do what? You could dishonor them. You could disregard them. You could hide away from them. You could do things that you are not accountable to them. But if, for instance, you made up your mind: anything my father cannot praise me for, I will not do. Anything I cannot tell my mother that I'm doing, I will not do. If he calls me say, "Ẹhn, Joe, let's do this," will I want to do it? Because I know I will always tell my parents whatever I want to do. I can't do anything that will be a dishonor to them. I can't do anything behind them. No! Why? Because God said that way, it will be well with you. Do you know that why there is so much fornication, masturbation, immorality, everything today among young people is because they are disobedient to parents.
These are the days, I remember this incident: sixteen years, is it sixteen or seventeen year-old teenager was aborting for the fifth time. The fifth time. And you say she's making love. Is she not making love? [speaks in Yoruba] "O o sọrọ, ṣẹbọ ṣere ifẹ ni. Abi ifẹ kọ?" Blessing, answer me jare. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ṣẹbi o ṣere ifẹ ni?" Abi ifẹ kọ? [speaks in Yoruba] "Ire... ire oyún." But in the real sense of it, she was making love. When I was doing my masters—I think then I was in Jos. Yeah, during my masters I was in Jos. We did a—something like a sample of young people. You know what we did? We divided responses for young people. They wanted to know: how many young people would prefer to marry a clean lady or a dropped lady? You know the funny thing? Virtually all the young men preferred clean ones. [speaks in Yoruba] "Wọn o fẹ tokunbọ, wọn fẹ ṣaṣa." You know Tokunbo? Alokù. [speaks in Yoruba] "Wọn le pe kan ni grade one, grade two... Grade one, eh! Oun lo kù." "Me, I'm... they only slept with me once, whether grade A or grade B or grade C, alokù is alokù." Even though there are different grades. But surprisingly, most of the young people preferred Tearover. But I want to ask you: when the boy wants the girl to show her true love, what does she ask for? What does he ask for? He asks for sex. That's another study. That's the one I did for my own masters: why is sex prominent in relationships among young people? All my studies on sexual behavior of people. So, why is sex prominent among young people? The prominent thing for at least almost seventy-five percent of my respondents, what they said was that to prove their love to one another. They want to prove the love. Now you have proved the love, but the boy does not hope that when he wants to later settle down, he sees you as having been reduced in value. So does love reduce the value of the object that is loved? What should love do? When God showed his own love to us, did our life reduce or got better? Our life got better. So there is something about that love that they call love. It's not actually love, it's being used. It is selfishness. It is being used.
That is why I notice when we were boys—when we were still boys before God brought us back from the bush and brought us into the way—[speaks in Yoruba] "To ba ti ba eeyan sun tan, wọn a ni 'Ah, Casi, ṣ'o ri iyẹn, a ti ra ri ṣai, a ti finish ẹ'." You'll be looking for another one again. But the girls that you slept with cannot boast. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ṣẹri mi, wọn ti finish mi." Are you understanding me? Rather, the girl don't want you to even know. When Joke meets again with Christopher, he wants to present him—herself fresh. You don't want to present—you don't want to tell Christopher that "You see, you know one thing about me? I have this wonderful quality. Do you know Tony? He slept with me in JSS1. Do you know Anthony? Ah, that one finish me in JSS2. Do you know that our neighbor? Ah, that one, he was everything in—when I was in SS1. Ah, now in SS2. Do you know that other neighbor that they call... Omo Toose? That one scattered me in SS2. Do you know..." he wants—he wants to start with a new relationship. Will he call that a quality, a good quality she wants to display as a basis for—what will she do with all those story? She would want to put those ones behind. But what gets our children being wasted is just one thing: they chose to dishonor father and mother. Can you leave this meeting today that through 2021 I will honor my father, I will honor my mother. If you can leave here with this burden in your heart that "Emi yii, abẹni lori o ni bẹ mi lori mọ." If you can leave here with this burden in your heart, "Me, I will honor my father, I will honor my mother. I will never do things again that I cannot say, 'Daddy, you know yesterday I was here, I was there, this is the things I did, this is...' I will not do anything again." Do you know that if you simply take that decision, it will be well with you and your days will be long. It is the word of God that I'm showing you. It's the word of God. But what the Lord showed me in that revelation, I was just seeing young people, [makes cutting sound]. Ah, what is going on? What is going on? The Lord said, "Ah, ewu igbe-ẹyin." Perilous time. What is going on? The Lord said, "See, they are dishonoring father and mother. And I have said it will not be well with them and their days will not be long." That is the burden of this meeting. That's the first burden I'm bringing to you. That you want to make up your mind this 2021, "Emi o, abẹni lori o ni bẹ mi lori mọ." No, it will not happen to me. How they will come I don't know. I've showed you how that friend wasted that girl. They come in different ways. Different thing waste people.
I don't know some of you watch some—some Mount Zion film where a lady would go and greet a boy, a supposed—a supposed brother who is not really a brother, and he would inject the drink with sedative and the lady will sleep off and by the time the lady wakes up, they are through with her. There are different—that happened one time on a campus. A boy threw his birthday party—birthday party. And inside the fried rice that everyone was to eat, they put Indian hemp. They have put things and the ladies too that came for the night to celebrate birthday party with the boy, they all ate rice. [makes cutting sound] "Abẹni lori o ni bẹ ẹ lori o." They ate rice. Enjoyed themselves. They didn't know that "abẹni lori" was waiting for them. When they were through, they started becoming drowsy and drowsy. They slept after the jollof rice and the boys too, the young man that about arranged his friends too, they began to sleep with them as they liked. I'm talking of on a campus. You see, what I'm trying to say is that so many things are wasting young people today. So many things. I was in a meeting, I think I went with my wife, young people and hard drugs. That's another one again. Hard drugs. That's another thing wasting—different kind of "abẹni lori," different.
But what the Lord is trying to point our attention to in this meeting is that can we call young people together? And I'm begging you again February meeting, I'm trusting God that this place will be full, outside will be full because we are trusting God to use projector for that one and a lot of things for that next meeting that it will be bigger. This is just—we want to use you as a dragnet to bring people. Do you understand me? Do you understand me? Can you go? We are trusting God. We want to announce that this 2021 our children they must escape the activity of the executioner. So I showed you one about that again and then I would have been through with that. Look at this very interesting story. Just look at this very, very simple story, but a very, very deliberate story. Look at it in 1 Samuel. Look at 1 Samuel, those of you who are with your Bible. Look at 1 Samuel chapter 9. I'll be very, very fast with what I want to read here. Look at from verse 1.
"There was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish... of the son of Abiel the son of Zero the son of Bechorath the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite a mighty man of power. He had a choice and handsome son whose name was Saul. There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Israel. From his shoulder upward he was taller than any of the people. Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul's father, were lost. And Kish said to Saul, 'Please take one of the servants with you, arise, go and look for the donkeys.'"
Do you get that? You get that story? So Saul went to look for the donkeys. Do you get that? He went to look for the donkeys. So quickly, I want to jump the story. You stay—when you get home, you read the whole of chapter 9. But I just want to jump the story. Look at verse 14. They went looking for the sheep, the donkey that were lost. And eventually, they came to the city where Samuel—Samuel at this time was a prophet. He was a prophet at this time. So they were looking for that donkey, they went looking until they came to where Samuel was. Do you get that? So now they have met Samuel. I want—I want the story to be very short. So they went up to the city and as they come into the city, there was Samuel coming out towards them on his way to the high place. Look at verse 15. Can we read that place together? Can you read your own Bible? "Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying"—verse 16, what did he say?—"Tomorrow about this time, I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. You shall anoint him commander over my people Israel, that he may save my people from the hand of the Philistines, for I have looked upon my people because of their cry to me." Have you seen that? Do you get something at all? What happened in Saul's family? [speaks in Yoruba] "Ki l'o sọnù?" Donkey, right? Maybe your own family, maybe [unclear] you are in turkey. I don't know what you have in your house. But this family, what they have? Donkey. What happened? Some were missing. And what did the father do? He called his son. Is that not? "Who is there, who is there? Dayo? No. Okey, Peremo? No. Favor, Grace? Okay, Saul! Saul! Come, come, come, come, come! Our donkeys have been missing. Oya, go and look for them o!" And Saul said, "Yes sir, yes sir, yes sir." And then he went looking for the donkey. He went, he was looking for it until eventually where did he find it? He found it with Samuel. He was looking for the donkey. What did he go to Samuel for? He want to go and ask a prophet that [speaks in Yoruba] "Woli, nibo l'awọn dọkí yìí wà? Mo ti wa wọn tì." He wanted a prophet to tell him where the donkeys are. Do you get it?
But before Saul came, the previous day before that day, what did God tell Samuel? "Around this time tomorrow, I will bring a Benjamite to you. That is the person I want to be the king over Israel. Anoint him to become the king." So what brought Saul out of their house? Missing donkey. Where did God bring Saul to? To become what? Are you seeing that ordinary parent sending you on errand can make you to miss your purpose in life or enter your purpose in life? Ordinary errand. [speaks in Yoruba] "Mo fẹ k'ẹ wo bi t'Ọlọrun ma ṣiṣẹ de pẹlu awọn obi." There was no voice that said, "Saul, my son, my son, my son, your Lord wants to send you on an errand so that you can become the king over Israel. Oya, be going like that. Don't disobey your father o. Be going, be going, be going!" Was there a voice? Was there a voice? There was no voice. They just called him. I just imagine Saul saying, "Oh Daddy, I cannot go today. I can't do it today. And why? Ah, don't you know that today the Blues and the Red, Man U and Chelsea, FA Final. Ah Daddy! Let's leave it for tomorrow." You understand me? [speaks in Yoruba] "Mo fẹ lọ dọla ni rimo, lọ l'oni. Oh, what is donkey? Ordinary animal to a global game. Daddy, ẹ mọ Man U ati Chelsea ni? Oh God! Oh shit man! Let's leave it. Tomorrow I will go." "Okay, okay, okay. If you won't go, okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. No problem, no problem." But what will have happened to Saul? I'm showing you what stubbornness, disobedient, disrespect can amount to the life of a man. Particularly in the life of a child to the parent. That's why I showed you that example.
But look at a child like Joseph. You know when he was in his father's house, anytime they send them to the field, he normally report what others do. It was Joseph. "Daddy, emi o join wọn o. Ṣẹri Bọda Reuben ati Uncle Judah? Ṣẹri Isaka yẹn? Ah, awọn bọda mi yẹn, ẹ lẹrẹ pa ni wọn n bọọlu lọ n gba. They didn't take care of the donkeys at all. They were just staying here and there. Ṣẹri emi o join wọn o. Ọmọ dada." "So what did they do?" "Ah, they are gambling draft, playing Scrabble, playing Snooker... me I didn't join them, I stay with them, they are just playing." That was the story. But eventually, that faithfulness to the father that that boy learned in that father's house that "No, anybody who is over you must be faithful to the person." Later when he got to Egypt, what happened again? There was one very cool lady. Only cool lady. Who is that cool lady? Wife of Potiphar. Very cool. Very chill, right? [speaks in Yoruba] "Nkan t'ẹ n ma n ro niyẹn. Ẹ mọ pe awọn abẹni lori." That's how they come. "Tumininu, you look—you look chill you know." [speaks in Yoruba] "Kil'o wọ? Ah-ah, o wọ pa." Ah, those people. That's how they appear.
And then Joseph said, "Mommy, ah-ah, ẹ mọ pe ẹ ti dagba ni? Ah-ah, ẹ mọ age mi nisin yii ni? Look, leave me alone jare. Let me live my own life, you have lived your own." And the woman said, "This boy don't understand." And then the woman will open the breast, open everything, do everything. The boy said, "No, mommy, irọ ni. My eye will not see evil." The boy will—until one day, she said, "Mo ma mu ẹ." You know that's what some boys do with girls. First give her this, then give her that. You begin to give, give, give, give, give. Later you will block him—block her. "Eh, ṣe o ri kash ti mo ṣẹṣẹ fún ẹ lanaa yẹn? Eh! Let me... ki lo de, o dẹ n ṣe bi ẹni pe o mọ nkan ti mo n fẹ sọ. Okay, okay, okay, gba 10,000 yii. Mo ni kókó relax now!" [speaks in Yoruba] "Awọn abẹni lori." That's how they appear. Until that day, he got Joseph in a corner. What was the corner? Only she and Joseph were where? Were in the house. And that is why I normally warn young people: never ever be alone with the opposite sex. Never ever try. Don't ever try. It's a bad place to be. As much as possible in every time—always because there is no time—you are alone. It's a thing I don't do in life. If I'm to be alone with a girl, with an opposite sex, it must be in an open place where people can see us from afar. Even if we want to—I remember when my office was at local government area. One day a woman had to call—a lady came to see me and other offices they have closed. You know what I did? I said, "Madam, ẹ ma bọ." I went to the gate. You know the gate of the compound? I open the gate, go out. We normally close the gate because a lot of offices are inside that compound. But she came in the evening when other offices they have closed. She was only me. Even though she came on a mission—no, she was my supervisee. I was to look at her project. And she came that evening. I said, "Oh, you are welcome. You know what we'll do? I said pick one chair. I said pick that chair, follow me." So she followed me. When I now got to the main gate where we normally drive out, I opened the gate wide like this, put stone here, put stone here. Said, "Madam, put your chair." I put my own chair. Say, "Okay, let's discuss the project." Even if a demon of fornication jump on the two of us, we can't be having sex where people are looking at us. Do you get the point I'm making? I didn't say she came on a mission. I'm only saying that it is wrong to be in seclusion with an opposite sex. It's not a good place to be.
But that was what happened to Joseph that day. And the woman just grabbed her! [speaks in Yoruba] "O pakute mi fún ẹ loni. Eni, eni, eni!" [laughs] [speaks in Yoruba] "A ma celebrate ifẹ loni. By fire, by force! Today is the celebration of love!" But you know what Joseph did? [speaks in Yoruba] "K'oju ma ribi. Ah, ẹ ti try! You try in this one! You try!" Quickly Joseph fled. He fled. But Joseph said something before he fled. Something that he took from his father's house. He said, "Look, in this house there is nothing I don't have control over except you. And that is because you are my master's wife. Ah-ah! How will I now sleep with you and do this wicked thing? [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹ l'ọmọ eniyan because you see Potiphar. How will I tell Potiphar that I slept with your wife? Ah-ah, madam, it is wickedness!" Was that not how Joseph was in his father's house? He had learned faithfulness. And that faithfulness brought him to where? Brought him to prison. And from prison brought him to what? To power. But I imagine that that woman asked for "Ah-ah, let's celebrate love!" and Joseph began to celebrate love. He began to celebrate love. Are you following me? Then the woman will say, "Okay, okay, okay, let's build a house for Joseph. You know he's a very good servant." At the end of the day, would Joseph have been able to become as—as the height he went? Even in the house of Potiphar, he will still be a rich servant. I don't know what he will be. May you not be cut short. You get the point I'm making.
So, please, I want you to note that. I want you to note it very well. So, the question is this, as we try to close this meeting: can anybody of himself say no to sin? My answer is no and I will tell you how. I'll just illustrate it to you. I don't know whether you have also experienced it. [speaks in Yoruba] "N mọ boya ẹ ti experience ẹ ri?" Have you ever come to a time in your life where, for example, you tell yourself—I don't know whether you have experienced it. If you have experienced it, you will signify to me. You say, "This thing I will not do it again. Kinni yii mi o ṣe mọ. This bad thing mi o ṣe mọ." And then you say, "New Year, new resolution." But before you come to the end of January, you have done it three, four times. Can I see your hand? Can I see your hand? People are not being sincere. Can I see your hand? Because that was my experience. It was my experience. You see, I'm discussing things with you that I've experienced. That's why I did not hide my life from you. Nobody came from heaven as holy. We were all born sinners and sin manifested in our life in different dimensions. You get the point I'm making? In different dimensions. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹlomii a ni 'Ah, thank God mi o kuku fornicate.' Irọ nikan ni mo n pa." What makes you better? What makes you better?
Now, what I want to bring out is this. Please. You know what I'm trying to show you? Many times in my life, some of those things—you know why? Because my parents also brought me into church. All this while, I was also in the choir. We'll be in the choir, [singing] "Father I declare that I love, love you. I declare and..." Do you understand me? But while that is going on, our girlfriend is in the choir. Oh my goodness. [makes kissing sound] I think my last girlfriend was Inkechi, one Igbo girl before God located me and took me out. While all those things will be going on, love letter is going on. "Ah, Tumininu, oju ẹ lo fresh loni. Bawo l'ọwọ ẹ after church?" We're in the choir o. Ah, sin is a bad thing. Sin is a bad thing. No, so sometimes they may be talking in church, even though the person speaking too does not have a direction because later I knew as at my—my priest at some point, because in the evening we meet them in beer parlor when they are also—oh, may God not give you bad leaders. People whose life can never impart life into your own life because you cannot give what you don't have. What you don't have, you can't give. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ṣẹre ẹni ẹlẹṣẹ, ọrun apa dipẹlẹbẹ." It was a Yoruba church. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹyin ẹlẹṣẹ elumoni yii, Ọlọrun a daju s'inu ina... Ẹ jọ kọ?" We'll hear those things again. Then you say, "Okay, God, God, I want to stop. I'm stopping." But you know what? No, please don't mind because I'm telling you my life. I'm telling you something that was real. Something that I experienced. The more I tried to say I will not do it, the more I could not stop. There is something that is stronger and far more powerful than my will. I now realize that my will is in bondage. Because I couldn't stop. Now, "Mi o ṣe mọ!" "Ah, iwa o, bawo ni? O le f'ẹmọ bẹyẹn, o ma move ni? Ah, how will you just go like that?" So it became a matter, honestly. I couldn't stop what I wanted to stop. I couldn't—the religion—I was just inside church. And the funny thing sometimes is that I was in the evangelical team. You will now go on evangelism! We'll be going. [singing in Yoruba] "Jesu n pe o, ọrẹ ma bọ, asọ l'adùn ayé, ohun gbogbo á d'òpín." We'll be going on evangelism. Ah, the lost looking for the lost. So who will look for the lost person? Do you understand? It was a very—it was a very pathetic case. Because nobody was looking for me, they thought I've been found. So I was going. We would do night vigil. Religion is a bad thing. If you are a religious sinner, it's a bad thing. Because religion cannot save you. Religion will only make you know the evil, but it cannot save you from the evil. You will know—I know now I knew that it was wrong. I could—but I could not stop. We... you know. And that is what I'm trying to say as I conclude this meeting.
I want to tell you the truth. The revelation I saw is that this executioner just keep—was just cutting off the head of children and young people. That's why we say today we are having adolescent [unclear] for this month and next month. [speaks in Yoruba] "Awọn ọmọ kékèké, at'awọn young, o kan n bẹ wọn lori lọ. Ah, Oluwa, ki leleyi? Wow, ki leleyi?" And he said, "Look at one major point. Today, children don't honor father and mother. And I have said it cannot be well with them and their days will not be long. For so many reasons." Then the Lord began to play my own life to me. "Look at how you were almost cut down and cut short. Where is Godwin today? Where is Cassin? What cut them short? Why couldn't they continue till now? Is it not this same matter?"
But I'm pointing to you how we came out. I want to show you something as we close and that is you must be born of God. You must be born of God. 1 John 5. 1 John 5. Please, let's look at 1 John 5 and Proverbs 8 and then we close today. 1 John chapter 5. I want to read, I want to try—who is having NLT Bible, New Living Translation? That's what you have. Oh, very, very good. Please, go to 1 John chapter 5. 1 John 5. I want you to read for me, I want you to read for me verse 4. Let's just take verse 4. Verse 4 and 5.
[Speaker 11]
"For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can—who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God."
[Speaker 1]
Do you see that? What can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. What can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He says everyone that is born of God defeats this evil world. How do they do it? They do it by their, what? By their faith. [speaks in Yoruba] "Gbogbo ẹni t'a ba ti bí nipa ti Ọlọrun, o ṣẹgun ayé. O ni wọn ṣẹgun ayé nipa igbagbọ. Ta lo le ṣẹgun ayé yii? Ẹnikẹni t'o ba gba pe Jesu ni Ọmọ Ọlọrun."
You know that sound very simple. Everybody knows that Jesus Christ is the Son of God now. But why are they continuing in sin? Because it's the thing I told you that I'm inside church. And then every time I want to—we want to sing, [singing] "Pass me not, O gentle Savior, hear my humble cry." They will now get to "Jesu." The women will do like this, [singing] "Jesu, Jesu." Men will do, "Jesus!" [speaks in Yoruba] "Irọ ni o!" Because the Jesus, we only know him as a matter of intelligence. We have not experienced him in our life. You know the way you study CRK in school. Ah, I always remember this my colleague, my—we are both CRK teachers. After he has finished teaching the children CRK, we help them again. We help them in exam, help them write WAEC. He's really a—he's really a religious teacher, isn't he? That tells you that [speaks in Yoruba] "pe eeyan mọ Bíbélì ọtọ ni, pe eeyan mọ Ọlọrun gan-an ọtọ ni." They are different things. They are different things.
But the Bible says who is the—what am I trying to say? "He that is born of God." You know what the Bible says in John chapter 1 verse 12? He says, "He came to His own, His own received Him not, but as many as received Him, He gave them," what? "Power to become children of God." What we are trying to say is this: I came to a point in my life, that day I was just singing hymn. Hymn. And it was at home. I was singing the hymn. I just didn't know what happened that day. Suddenly I began to cry. I was crying. "Ah, is it not the same hymn I've been singing all my life?" And then I began to cry. And then I said, "Jesus, I believe that when You died, You died for my sin. When You resurrected, it was also for my sin. You resurrected to set me free. Jesus, this day, I give my life to You. Be my Savior, save me from sin. Be my Lord, be the one who lord it over my life." You know, I said that thing. But do you know that was—I could remember that in my life, that was the experience. It happened sometime in 1987 what I'm telling you now. I don't know which of you have been born by that time. It happened then. When it happened then, do you know that [makes sounds of something falling away]?
[Background music]
But you know what happened one day? I was reading my Bible. [background noise] Two things I want to recommend to you. Three things I want to recommend to you. I was reading my Bible because that Bible has become a daily thing, thing I do, a thing I do every day on a daily basis. I was reading the Bible, wanting to know God more and more. That day, I came to 2 Corinthians chapter 5, where the Bible says that if any man be in Christ—are you familiar with that scripture? Do you all know that scripture? [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹ mọ ẹsẹ Bíbélì yẹn?" "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature." You don't—you don't know what happened? Like a light, something just came out inside my spirit. "Ah, wait! If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Ah-ah!" I said, "I don't understand. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Ah-ah!" You know what happened? Suddenly the prayer I was praying, "God, make me a new creature." That was my prayer. "Make me a new creature," after giving my life to Christ and I could—it looked as if I could not overcome masturbation. "Ah! Make me a new creature!" The—the scripture was just speaking to me. It said, "Are you in Christ? [speaks in Yoruba] "Ṣé o wà nínú Jesu?" I said, "Yes! Now I know I'm in Christ because that day something changed about me." He said, "Then stop asking Me to make you a new creature. You are a new creature." For the first time, [speaks in Yoruba] "o ni 'Ẹhn?' Ah, mo ni 'Ẹ duro! Oh! Mo ti di ẹda tuntun, kii ṣe pe mo n fẹ di ẹda tuntun. Oh! Oh!'" I said, "Then I've been praying foolishly, praying to God to make me again. I'm already made." Suddenly it just occurred to me, "Masturbation? The person who used to masturbate is dead. This one is a new creature. Is a new creature." I'm showing that this is the victory, by what? By faith. By faith. Faith come by hearing and hearing the word of God. After I took that faith, do you know that that was the last and the end? I'm talking about someone that happened—I'm talking about something that had happened close to thirty-something years ago. That was the end of it. It was not praying, praying about it anymore. It was what? By a revelation that come from where? From the word of God.
So what am I recommending to you young people? You will read Proverbs 8 for me when I get there because that's the translation that I want. You know, my journey out of it was by one—what was the first thing? Is it head knowledge? What was it? Encounter with who? With Jesus. Who can overcome this evil world? He who believe. I don't know, maybe you have been religious like me, but you have not personally come to Jesus and say, "Jesus, wo, I want to honor father and mother but I find that my will is in bondage. Come, You died to set me free. Set me free. Be my Savior, [speaks in Yoruba] "dá mi—ki la ma n pe? Olugbala." You know what I mean by that? It is to save us from the power and the dominion of sin. That's what He does. Nobody can save himself from sin. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ko si ẹni na t'o l'agbara l'ori ẹṣẹ. Inú Jesu ni igbala wa, kii ṣe inú ijọ o." Not in a church. That's why Jesus said, "Come to Me," not "come to church." "Come to Me." Come to Me, have encounter with Me. Can you come to Jesus today? Forget church. It's not about church. Whether you are Baptist, you are Anglican, you are this—it's not about the church you go. And that is why when we deal with people, we tell them, "Go back to your church and go and be light to other people." Because it's not about church.
It's about having encounter with Jesus. If I'm in Anglican church and have encounter with Jesus, I will overcome sin. If she is in Baptist church, have encounter with Jesus, what will she do? She will overcome sin. If she is in CAC, she has encounter with Jesus, what will she do? She will overcome sin. So it's not about church. You don't have to—"Come to my church so that you can..." No, it's not about church. You don't need to come to my church. Be in your church, but you encounter Jesus and see whether you will not overcome sin. It's not about church. It's not. And you can be in "Holiness of the Heavenlies in the Jesus of God Church," if you don't have Jesus in your life, you will still be sinning. And me, I will be in a church they call "African People's Church." If I'm in that church they call African People's Church and I have Jesus, I will live above sin. So it's not about church. Do you understand me? It's about what? A personal encounter with Jesus. A deliberate decision that, "Look, abẹni lori o ni bẹ mi lori, the executioner will not execute me in 2021. I will not be wasted. Rather I will be established, I will be consolidated in God. I will become responsible, I will grow up to become meaningful. I will be relevant in my own generation. I will not be wasted. But Jesus, I need you to help me do it." That is the truth. You need Jesus. You can't do it by yourself. [speaks in Yoruba] "O le daṣe." I'm telling you what I've tried over and over and over [speaks in Yoruba] "si mi le daṣe." I tried church, church [unclear]. I tried activity in the church, it did not help me. Church cannot save you. It is this personal encounter with Jesus, understanding that Jesus said, "If anybody come to Me, I will not cast away." So if you come to that and say, "Jesus"—that what happened to me, there was no preacher. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ṣẹbi emi yii n wa sọ fun yin? There was no preacher." [speaks in Yoruba] "Kosi ẹni t'o wa sọ f'emi. Ọlọrun kọ fi anu ba mi pade lọjọ yẹn." And with that, I became a changed person. And the second thing I was telling you is that I discovered that there was a need to be studying what? The word of God. As I was studying the word of God, I began to encounter faith. Faith was coming into my ear. Because it say we overcome also by what? By faith. So as I was growing in faith, "Eh! The word of God said, 'Eh! I'm a new creature!'" I said, "Look, I'm a new creature." And so when lie come again, I say, "Look, lie, sorry. The person who lie is dead. This one is a new creature. He's a new creature." I'm showing that this is the victory, by what? By faith. By faith. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God.
As I took that faith, do you know that that was the last and the end of it? I'm talking of someone that happened—I'm talking about something that had happened close to thirty-something years ago. That was the end of it. It was not praying, praying about it anymore. It was what? By a revelation that come from where? From the word of God. It is not by power or by might, it is by the Spirit of God. It is not power—[speaks in Yoruba] "kii ṣe agbara mọ." It is not—it is not willpower. No, it's not willpower. It is the Spirit of God operating by what? By faith [speaks in Yoruba] "nipa ọrọ Ọlọrun." Adolescent, [speaks in Yoruba] "ẹyin ọmọ wẹwẹ," and singles, that was my experience. That was my experience. And I'm telling you today, it is the same thing you can do. But I'm telling you, this year, more young people again will be wasted except there is a reversal. And I'm showing you, you must make up your mind, "I will not be wasted." And don't stop with yourself. If you have your friend, go and tell them this same thing I'm telling you. Make up your mind to follow Jesus. Make up your mind. If you don't know what to do, we'll soon give you my number. You don't need to leave your church, I keep telling you. Be in your church. Just be sure you are growing in Jesus. It's not about church. Be in that your church, but be hearing the correct word of God. You will grow and even in that your church, you too will be preaching to others. When you have the light, you will begin to convert people in our church. Do you get it? So you become a messenger for Jesus where? In that your church. You don't need to leave there. You can be a messenger for Jesus there. But you must make up—what I want you to make up your mind is that I am not going to be executed this year. I am not going to be wasted in life. My destiny will not be wasted, my purpose will not be wasted. God, this year, locate me and place me. That's the prayer.
Can we go ahead to pray? Can you go ahead to pray? Can you talk to God? Can you just talk to God? And I want you to mean business. I told you when I gave my life to Christ, my friends they were laughing at me. Godwin was laughing at me, Cassin was laughing at me. Today they are both dead. They are both wasted. [speaks in Yoruba] "Abẹni lori ti bẹ wọn lori danu." [speaks in Yoruba] "Wọn ti dẹnu amuso." They have been wasted. I know—I know of a lady that was wasted by HIV/AIDS. She was on campus [speaks in Yoruba] "ko mọ pe ẹni t'oun ba sùn ni AIDS." She grew up, he settled down, she married. Through her life, her husband got HIV, her children got HIV. They began to die one by one. I was discussing with her and she was weeping, "Ah, look at how I wasted my life." Look, sin is a waster. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ẹṣẹ o ma sọ aye ọmọ di koro fun ni. It is a waster." You will not be wasted. Pray to God, take a decision. Take a decision in your heart, take a decision that "Rara o, abẹni lori o ni bẹ mi lori, the executioner will not execute me. I will not be wasted. Rather I will be established, I will be consolidated in God. I will become responsible, I will grow up to become meaningful. I will be relevant in my own generation. I will not be wasted." First take a decision, "I want to begin to honor my father. I will honor my mother. I will honor parents." It say, "Honor father and mother, that it may be well with you." I will not do what I cannot tell my parents. I will not go where I cannot tell my parents. I will not be involved in things I cannot tell my parents. I will never do that. I will never again. Lord, it will be well with me and I will live long. That is the word of God. He says "so that it will be well with you, it will be well with you and that you may live long." I want you to pray, "Lord, I make up my mind today to honor parents, to honor father and mother and I pray, Lord, in this 2021, it will be well with me. It will be well with me," say that to yourself. Pray and say, "It will be well with me and I will live long on this earth. I will not be cut down. Abẹni lori o ni bẹ mi lori mọ. The executioner will not execute me. I will not be cut down. I will not be cut down. I will not be cut down. I will not be cut down."
And then you move to the second prayer. I don't know where you are. Have you decided for Jesus or not? If you are not sure whether you have decided for Jesus, you are not sure. You know you have not decided. [speaks in Yoruba] "Mi o dẹ ti decide fun Jesu yii o." I have not. [speaks in Yoruba] "Mo mọ p'o kan n wa ninu church ni." Like my own story, but you have not decided. Is there anybody like that here? You know you have not decided. You have not decided and you want to decide now. You want to say, "Lord Jesus, I am deciding now. I want to know You." That's why I'm asking, is there anybody like that? I want to know You because I want to start a journey with You. That's the reason. There is nothing spiritual, there is nothing... it's not that God is telling me that you must raise up your hand, no. It's because I want to know you. The Bible says "walk with the wise, you become wise." Just like somebody took me out of stepping right and I began to step wrongly into destruction. I want to begin to teach you how to step right. That's why I want to know you. Is there anybody like that today that you want to decide today? Is there anybody like that? Like you want to decide today? Is there anybody? Okay, nobody at that category.
The second category is this: you know you have decided for Jesus at a point. You have decided, but there are still struggles. Like I told you about my case. There is still one thing drawing me here, drawing me there and then you have been saying, "Iru ki leleyi? Iru ki leleyi? Iru ki leleyi? How do I get out of this thing? I want to follow Jesus! This thing is drawing me back! No, I have decided for Jesus, you can't draw me back!" Is there anybody like that? You have decided but you know there are certain things drawing you back. Habit, pulling you and drawing you. [speaks in Yoruba] "On faye p'o le lọ mọ, o le lọ bẹyẹn na." You will say you will not do, you find yourself in it again. [speaks in Yoruba] "Mi o ni ṣe mọ," you find yourself in it again. Is there anybody like that so that we pray together? [speaks in Yoruba] "Bẹẹ ni o wa nibi kan?" Okay, one, I've seen one person. Any other person like that? Another person like that? You have decided but there is a struggle. You have decided but you are struggling with something. Any other person again before we pray? Any other person? Okay, just two persons. Okay.
I just want to pray for those—those two persons. Now, just whatever—you don't need to stand. I've seen you already that because I want to know you, that's why I particularly say who is so I've known you. Now, I want you to pray. I want you to pray, particularly for yourself. And if you are here, you did not want to raise up your hand because you are afraid, you are ashamed of something—oh, you are not getting it right o. You are not getting it right. I told you that you are in this place because God brought you here. You planned to be here o, but look at what happened to Saul. He wanted to go and look for donkey but he met with God. Your being here is not by coincidence. God wants to do something with you. I'm telling you, God want to address something. And if God is addressing these matters and you are hiding away, ah, you are hiding away from salvation. That's the problem. For those people, I want to pray with you. You see what brought me out of that struggle was revelation. Revelation. I will pray for you now and by the time my wife come up to say one or two things, you will be—she will be telling—giving you my number. She will be telling about her number. Please, you will take my number, we'll still talk beyond this point. But I want to pray for you.
Lord, Lord, righteous Father, I pray for these two lives who have decided but something, one thing is holding them back. Something is drawing them back. Lord, one simple habit, one simple thing, one thing is holding them. Oh, the Bible says you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Lord, I pray for these two lives. I ask particularly for the spirit of wisdom and for the spirit of revelation. Oh, that your eyes of understanding will be opened and you will encounter truth. You will encounter Jesus in a new way and this truth will set you free in the name of Jesus!
I ask, the Bible says and Jesus opened their understanding that they may understand scripture. I pray particularly for you that the Lord will open your understanding and you will understand scriptures in the name of Jesus! Your inner eyes shall be opened and by the reason of the light of God, you will no more walk in darkness in the name of Jesus Christ!
Lord, I'm praying for everybody now. I'm asking Lord our God, You are calling this meeting for January and for February because the executioner is going ahead. In fact, he has enlarged his appetite, ready to execute much more the more again in 2021. But Lord, You said we should call a meeting and begin to cut—and begin to destabilize, to destroy the works of the devil. That is why this meeting was called. And that is why we are also calling February meeting that is coming with the film show. Lord our God, we are begging You. We are pleading with You. We have sent Your word to these ones. I have brought it the way You sent it to me, I've brought it to them. Lord, I pray for these ones in particular, those that are here physically and everyone that is connect us to—online. Every adolescent online, every singles online, everywhere they are across the nation, across the continents of the world listening to us this afternoon. Lord, I pray they shall be located. They shall be placed. They will not be executed in the name of Jesus! In the name of Jesus! In the name of Jesus!
I pray for you, you will not be wasted. You will not be wasted. You will not be wasted. You will not be wasted in the name of Jesus! I terminate every activities of the waster. Anywhere they have set trap for your life, anywhere the Bible says the devil goes about seeking who to devour. Everywhere the devil is coming in different manifestation, in form of a friend, in form of a girlfriend, a boyfriend, in form of one friend that is leading you to one evil thing, in whichever way, in form of social media, whichever way the devil is manifesting and coming your way, I pray you will not be trapped. You will not be trapped. You will not be trapped in the name of Jesus! In the name of Jesus! Rather you will escape. You will escape. You will escape.
I pray for you, it is well with you. The Lord bless and keep you. The Lord cause His light to shine upon you. The Lord do you good in the land of the living. It shall be well with you and your days shall be long on earth. It shall be well with you and your days shall be long on earth. It shall be well with you and your days shall be long on earth. Thank You, Father. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
I want to hand over to my wife, quickly she will just—Wuraola.
[Speaker 23 - Wuraola Olusoyia]
Praise the Lord. If you are happy, tap your hands together. Praise the Lord. If you are blessed, shout Hallelujah now. Somebody shout Hallelujah! We thank God for today. I don't know maybe when we started we have at least generally said Happy New Year. Did somebody tell you that this—in this place today? Oya, tell your neighbor, "Happy New Year." Tell your neighbor, "It shall be a glorious year for you and for me." Tell your neighbor, "This year, my life will be fruitful. My life will bring glory to God more than ever before. The waster will not waste me in the name of Jesus."
So, we—we appreciate God for today. I am very sure that the Lord has met with you, the Lord has blessed you. What God has done in our lives today, we shall see the fruit in hundreds folds in Jesus' name. The enemy will not snatch them away from your life in the name of Jesus. Just like—what Daddy said, by God's grace, this every first Saturday of the month we have Singles and Adolescent Club. You know today is the first Saturday. So it's supposed—normally we have it separately. We have the adolescent—you saw them when they gave us special number. The Lord will not only use your voice, He will use everything in you for His glory in Jesus' name. And for the singles, I know they have wonderful things to give us, maybe the—the February edition which will also be a combined. Normally we don't combine. We have it separately, undergraduate—somebody that has left secondary school, undergraduate, postgraduate, mature singles that are not married—mature singles [speaks in Yoruba] "awọn ti o wa married." That—those are the people under the category of Singles Club. While the adolescent are secondary school and we also entertain some primary school, Primary 4 and co. So we normally have our programs separately the same day, but the singles will gather separate, the adolescent will gather separate. But God said this January and February should be combined. So by God's grace, in February we will also combine. We—there will be a film show. That one will be more of a—like a big thing in the neighborhood, flyers will go out. So we trust God that the Lord that has helped you to be here today to be blessed will also bring you back for the February edition in Jesus' name.
Just like what—okay you, the Lord has brought you so that you can also be His mouthpiece. Tell somebody about the February edition. Not only the February edition, we also welcome you that we will be seeing you every first Saturday of the month as long as you are in Akure. If you are not in Akure, some people are online. In fact, let me surprise you, the people that are online are more than the numbers that are here physically. So even when you are back in school—because we trust God that the Lord will take those that are at home back to school. ASUU strike, COVID-19, everything that has halted your academic progression, the Lord will remove out of the way in Jesus' name. So those who are—whether you are in service, whether you are in your place of work, in anywhere—you may even if you are not in Nigeria, any part of the world where there is internet, you will be—you can participate, you can join the program. But if you are physically around, we would love to see you in February and subsequently too monthly in Jesus' name.
Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. So we also want to have your contact, we want to have your address, we want to have your phone number. Please supply just that information. A paper will be sent round. Quickly put that down because we want to interact and become friends, to become your friend. Are you happy to be here today? Praise the Lord.
And—that is for the Singles Club. It's good for you to also know about our program, particularly for those who are—our aunties and uncles. We always have every Monday discipleship class. [speaks in Yoruba] "Ko s'ẹni t'o—t'o outgrow yẹn." Mommies, daddies, aunties, uncles, young, old, we must all be disciples in Jesus at Jesus' feet learning. So every Monday we do that. Every Monday 5:00 to 6:30. We do that every Monday. Then we also have Marriage Forum. That is every second Saturday of the month. It's not only for those who are married. The Marriage Forum is more for the adolescent too. Adolescent, shout Hallelujah! [speaks in Yoruba] "Aa-ah, shout Hallelujah!" Is it because I said the—the Marriage Forum is not for the adolescent? Don't worry, many of our married people that are married in the Marriage Forum now, they—they were once group—members of adolescent group. But today they've grown, settled down in their families. So don't worry, [speaks in Yoruba] "ẹyin ni di akókò." But the mature singles here, all the undergraduate can be in our Marriage Forum. [speaks in Yoruba] "Awọn bi Blessing, you don't have to be married before you begin to learn of things. Awọn bi..." [speaks in Yoruba] "Mo ti gbagbe oruko..." [speaks in Yoruba] "Aimasi kọ, awọn bi awọn anti gbogbo, iyẹn dẹ le kọ." [speaks in Yoruba] "Mo mọ p'ẹ ti dagba tan." When I was—I have the privilege to also learn. I never even know I will have anything to do with ministry. When I was undergraduate, we also go to programs organized on marriage, learning how to know the will of God. Please, okay let me—let's quickly—we'll bless the refreshment so that it can go simultaneously. So during that period, God helped us, we learned. And honestly, [speaks in Yoruba] "nkan ta kọ ngba yẹn, it helped us better, it helped us better when we were even ready for marriage." So, mature singles here, you can also join us second Saturday of the month, either physically or on—online. All our programs are online. They are live. When we are—as we are seated here, some people are listening all over the—the world. So you can also join us to—to be blessed. Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord. So, please let's quickly bless our refreshment. Are we ready? Praise the Lord. Shall we pray. Father, we are grateful unto You for—for this time. Having blessed us with spiritual food, You also gave provision for the physical one. We receive it with thanksgiving in Jesus' name. We ask, O Lord, that this refreshment will do us well. It will nourish us. It will make us rich and add no sorrow. Thank You, Father, for hearing us. In Jesus' name we pray.
Praise the Lord. So that is about our program: Singles Club, first Saturday of the month, Singles and Adolescent Club. Discipleship class for everybody, all categories of human being, male, female, young, old, every Monday 5:00 to 6:30. Then our Marriage Forum, second Saturday of every month. And I trust the Lord, the Lord that has always been meeting with us will also meet with us anytime we gather, meet with you in particular anytime you come to join us in our meetings in Jesus' name.
Okay. Do you have—time? Marriage Forum, 10:00 to 12:00, just the same time in the morning. 10:00 to 12:00. Adolescent and Singles Club, 10:00 to 12:00. Discipleship class, 5:00 to 6:30. God bless you all in Jesus' name. Okay.
Do you have any question? Is there any question that you want to ask as touching what you have heard? Or any issue? If you—is there any question? Okay, probably you want it—you don't want it to come directly for—to be known that it comes from you, you can as well write it down or meet us personally after this program. Yes, our contact—okay. This is our base, this is the—we call it Life Camp. This is the ministry fellowship ground. And my number is 07033613848. Again, 07033613848.

Can we share the grace in fellowship? No question? Can we share the grace in fellowship? Before we share the grace, can you please stand up? I want us to—appreciate God and say—sing this song.
We are saying thank you Jesus, thank you our Lord. We are saying thank you Jesus, thank you our Lord. We are saying thank you Jesus, thank you our God. We are saying thank you Jesus, thank you our God.
Father, as we go, let Your presence that You have released upon our life today, let it remain with us. Let Your presence go with us. Let Your presence continue with us in the name of Jesus. Lord, do not leave us until You have completed what You have in stock for us and what You want to do in us and through us. To the glory of Your name, the blessing of Your people, and O Lord to our own blessing as well. In Jesus' name we pray.
The grace in fellowship. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us now and forevermore. Amen. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives, and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever. Amen. God bless you all.
