[Music playing]
[Speaker 1]
Churches and fellowships cannot be more spiritual than the individuals and families that constitute them. God greatly desires a godly home front. These are words of restoration and instruction in righteousness from Family Tent Ministry. May you be blessed as you listen.
[Speaker 2]
About this woman, I said if that was how you met her, you would not have married her. Am I correct? Am I correct? It means if now you hate everything about her, it was what you made her to be. That was not how you met her.
I'm talking about price and prizes. The gain, what you need to know, what you ought to do, and that there are benefits. There are things to gain, but I am first concerned about, look, there are things you- and I'm just getting afraid today because the sacredness of the marriage vow, even believers are the one that are profaning it.
And many times I make bold to say that it appears to me that it looks as if the people that gather more inside our churches today, they are rather crowds than disciples. Because the first thing you said about that vow is to love according to God's word. That is, as far as this relationship is concerned, the word of God is the final authority. That was the vow. And that was something you- that was something you want to run with.
But the first thing I'm confronting you with or challenging you with is that [Yoruba 00:03:00 - 00:03:08]. We entered into the relationship with all these promises. We acted as if you also don't enjoy- who would not enjoy if he marries?
[Yoruba 00:03:22 - 00:03:32]. There were some things you said, there were some things you- particularly from the side of the man. We are the one that goes out, if I'm to use the word, to toast her. Am I correct? Hello there. This is my proposal. My proposal is like this, like this. [Yoruba 00:03:52 - 00:04:10].
So the first point I'm challenging you with is that it is true that when we come to the church, it is in the presence of God. But I also want you to know that something is also true. Those things you said that made that woman or that man to follow you to that altar, God will hold you responsible for it. He will hold you responsible for it because [Yoruba 00:04:41 - 00:04:47], nobody would have gone with you to the altar.
So Esau thought he was playing. "Oh, let's just eat rice. A birthright won't eat rice." "Okay, if you want to eat, you must give me your birthright." "What is birthright? What is birthright? What is birthright?" And that is how we talk sometimes. "Sister, don't worry, don't worry. You see, I will take care of you. There is no problem. Look, I even have a plan. My plan is to love you, to make provision for you." You just be talking, talking, talking, but God is noting it.
God is noting it. We are not like unbelievers that flatter people. You were not flattering her. If you are truly a Christian, you weren't flattering her as far as God is concerned. You were telling her what you will do, the same way you were telling him what you will do.
So that stage that Esau thought he was playing, for God was Esau playing? Esau was not playing because Jacob laid it to heart. So the Bible said thus, Esau despises his birthright. The same way, when you said, "Don't worry, I will care for you, I will do this, I will do that. Don't worry, as a wife, I will submit to you. Look, I will do this, I will do that." And the person laid it to heart, as far as God is concerned, you made a covenant.
And then one day you now make bold again. You now come before the congregation of God's people. [Yoruba 00:06:21 - 00:06:33]. And then in the presence of the Lord, you are there that day. Your mind is not even there, many times you know. The rush, the man is tired. [Yoruba 00:06:44 - 00:06:48] and then take your picture. It's just a ceremony that was running.
But what I'm trying to make you see is that God is a God that holds men responsible for their words. Why? By faith we understand that the world was framed by the word of God. So that the things that are seen are not created from the things which do appear, but they were created by the word of God. Bible says,
> "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God... through Him were all things made, without Him was nothing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life is the light of men, and the light shines into darkness and the darkness could not possibly resist it." (John 1:1-4)
[Yoruba 00:07:44 - 00:08:00]. God don't joke with words. That's the person I'm calling you to. Brethren, there is a price to pay today. We vowed to run our marriages according to the word of God. We have to make sure we don't need somebody, and like I said yesterday and like I was telling the men, God began with the family. God was not intending the law, God was not intending the tabernacle. Anyway, there was an aberration. The law came in, the tabernacle came in. But you see again, when Jesus appeared on stage, God returned back to the original thing. The Bible says the curtain of the temple was torn into two. And what happened? God no more live in any building. Where is God living? God lives in man.
God went back to the original, that we ought to live in a way we understand that God is in us. We are to be carriers of God. And how do we carry God? We carry His word, we carry what He has said. And the vow you made was that it is according to God's word. [Yoruba 00:09:12 - 00:09:18] but today, what do you find around us today?
And that is why Family Tent Ministry that we run is what- we run a marriage ministry and a youth ministry. We disciple young people as we disciple couples. Do you know that sometimes we are speaking with these young people, they will be telling you that marriage is not desirable. [Yoruba 00:09:47 - 00:10:00]. Marriage sometimes looks like something to drag down your life. That is not true. It is not true.
God did not design marriage to drag down any life. God designed home to be a place of comfort. He said two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. If one fall, what will happen? The other will lift him up. But today, if one fall, the other will march him down. [Yoruba 00:10:29 - 00:10:38]. You just march down, you just press down. Is that how a Christian should behave? After now you will say this, after now- I don't know, I don't know. You see, there is a way we are too hard on ourselves in our homes. We are too hard. We are too hard on ourselves, we are too tough on each other. We are not gentle in heart, we are not kind in spirit.
We ought to be able to bear. The Bible says, "bearing with one another, forgiving one another, forbearing one another, if any man have a grievance against anybody, let him forgive." If you call some husband, [Yoruba 00:11:18 - 00:11:32], you are still carrying 13 years ago matter on your heart. 13 years ago. Then I'm going to ask you, which year do you want to begin to receive revelation to guide your marriage? Because after, you still talk about 12 years ago, 11 years ago, 10 years ago, 9 years ago. You continue like that. Then when do you want to start with direction?
You talk with some of our sisters, [Yoruba 00:12:05 - 00:12:15]. You are still carrying the day you went to visit his mummy. And then when you want to start, you start it from there. [Yoruba 00:12:30 - 00:12:35]. I begin to wonder, what are you pregnant with?
The word of God, which we vowed to say according to God's word, said if anybody have anything against anybody, let him forgive. He said if your brother offend you, go and meet him and show him his fault so that you can win him over. He said if you are going to worship, you remember that your brother has something against you, do what? Leave it! Go and see- you see, this is- I'm talking about even relationship with Christians. But let me tell you the truth. The truth is this. Because we have not lived correct Christian life, is why it is becoming so difficult to live correct marriage life.
You have been bearing malice with sisters. Some of you are still bearing malice with your leaders before you enter marriage. So you have learned to bear malice. It's not your husband that taught you. You are somebody that once somebody just offend you like that, [Yoruba 00:14:00 - 00:14:03]. That brother is not serious, so-and-so, so-and-so. But now in marriage, you can't just part like that. That's why you are having problem because you have not been living well.
That is why you notice God said when it comes to faithfulness to your spouse, do what? Take heed to your own spirit. Your problem is not your spouse, your problem is yourself. I've made this statement one day and somebody said, "Ah, [Yoruba 00:14:38 - 00:14:42]." And I said, okay. I said let me give you an illustration, and I want to give you the illustration. Imagine a situation where you want to use the toilet. And when you enter into the toilet, the last user did not flush. Once you enter, what is your response? Once you open the lever, the cover, what's your response? You know you just- am I correct? And sometimes- am I correct? Cover your nose.
Then what's the next thing? In fact, sometimes you may curse the last user. [Yoruba 00:15:28 - 00:15:35]. No, we are different people. Some may not curse, some may curse. [Yoruba 00:15:38 - 00:15:43]. Depending on your personality. Am I correct? Am I correct? And after you have washed very well, you sit down and you are using the toilet. As you are using the toilet, what comes out of you? What comes out of you? Is it something different from what you met before? No! You are not answering me. Is it something different? Is it not the same thing?
But this time around, darling, let me have your phone. This time around, the same thing and smell everywhere. "Ah, Mommy Victor, I'm coming oh. Yes, don't worry, Mommy. I'm in the toilet oh. Yes, that thing you were saying. Okay, tomorrow we will do it." Am I correct? Am I correct? Why were you able to sit comfortably inside the same thing that was almost making you mad just now?
[Audience laughter]
[Preacher 2]
[Yoruba 00:16:53 - 00:16:56]? Just now you are telling story, you are making call. Just now you were cursing, you were shaking, as if that thing can kill you, as if you must divorce, you must scatter the marriage, you must do everything. You were shaking and you were cursing, depending on who you are. Some may not curse, some may just say, "nonsense," and then- but why are you now comfortable inside? Is it not the same thing? Why are you comfortable?
Because it is your own! Am I correct? Am I correct?
[Audience laughter and applause]
So when you see a man or a woman, "Ah! E! He! He! She! Look, I can't stay with her. No, no, no, no!" Please, where is the problem? It is because he or she is blind that they are no longer two. The problem of the wife is the problem of the husband. They are no longer two. That was the vow you made. Was that not the vow you made? That you will love according to God's word. That was the price you were putting your neck into. [Yoruba 00:18:14 - 00:18:22]. That was the vow you were making, that a man, I'm leaving my father and mother now to be joined to my wife, and the two of us will become one. What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder. So they are no longer two, they are one. And you were bouncing in that vow, [Yoruba 00:18:48 - 00:18:57]. Am I not correct?
You see, I am saying this thing today because I don't know whether you are following the media, whether you are following current trend in our churches among believers. Whether you are following common trend, it's becoming very, very disturbing, very, very worrisome. Marital instability, even among ministers, people you suppose are children of God. They will say, "Look, we are irreconcilably incompatible." Big English, big grammar, [Yoruba 00:19:43 - 00:19:44].
Can an individual become irreconcilably incompatible with himself? You see, I'm saying this thing because I want us to get something, that we took a vow and there are prices that, there are things to do, there are- we were making decisions about certain things. We should not be profane like Esau. We should understand that [Yoruba 00:20:18 - 00:20:30]. We were taking deliberate decisions. We are deciding something and we were putting our neck to it.
Do you know if we work it well, do you see the other side of it? He said because he seeks a godly seed. That's God. The Bible says how good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity. I don't know whether you have looked at that scripture very, very well before. But let us see. I wish we could display it. Look at Psalm 133. I want to show you something in that place because I'm putting side by side the price and then the prizes. I'm putting them side by side as we look at this matter of the vow, the marriage covenant, understanding this covenant.
Are you in Psalm 133? Look at something there. Look at something in Psalm 133. Chapter 133. Now do you notice that everything that was mentioned, [Yoruba 00:21:38 - 00:21:40], just be looking at your Bible. "Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity." Look at the verse 2. "It is like the precious oil upon who? Upon the head." Is that- so what do you call that in English? A comparison. Is that- is that not? Am I correct? "Running down the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down to the edge of his garment." What is still that? A comparison. Am I correct? Move to the next verse. "It is like the dew of Hermon." What is still that? A comparison. "Descending upon the mountain of Zion." What is still that?
Now, you know what I want you to do? Remove the verse 2. Remove verse 2. Remove the first two phrases in verse 3. Now if you join it together, if you want to read that scripture, it is: "Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity, for there the Lord commands His blessing, even what? Life forevermore."
I'm trying to make you see why life is not in many homes today. Why brethren dwell together in unity, God sees a place where He can command blessing. God sees a place where what? Blessing can be commanded. Is your home a place where God can command blessing? When you dwell in unity, when you stick together, when you stay by your vow, He says, "for there," there is a place. My question to you is that is your home that place? Can your children enter into your home and find life?
You saw the drama. Thank God for the drama unit of the church. I don't know whether it's of the diocese or of the church, I don't know. But thank God for that drama. You can see the implication on the children. He seeks a godly seed. That's God. He said, "there God commands His blessing." Look at your home today. [Yoruba 00:24:26 - 00:24:43]. Are you making your home a place where God can command it? Is your home a place where God can command it?
Price, prizes. Price, prizes. Some of us, we are just like hot groundnut oil, that once you add water to it, [makes noise], tenderness. Tenderness. Many of us have lost tenderness. Do you know that even God, the Bible says God does not deal with us according to what we deserve? Have you read that thing in Psalm? It's because He remembers that we are weak, remembers that we are dust. So His compassions are there. [Yoruba 00:25:48 - 00:25:52] even God who is holier than you, He has mercy.
But for us, we don't have mercy on ourselves in our home. [Yoruba 00:26:04 - 00:26:07]. We don't- we are so revengeful. So revengeful. You always want to give back. But do you know that two wrongs cannot make a right? She may be wrong that she denied you or that he denied you. But the fact that you want to take revenge, but look- check the scripture. He said look, brethren, don't give any man evil for evil. [Yoruba 00:26:41 - 00:26:42]? Or but rather give place for wrath, for God has said, "vengeance is mine." If your enemy is hungry, what should you do? [Yoruba 00:26:55 - 00:26:59]. Forgive the meat.
I say this because I was talking somewhere, myself and my wife were in one church. And somebody came out and said, "Sir, you see in some situation where your wife is," [Yoruba 00:27:17 - 00:27:26]. [Yoruba 00:27:27 - 00:27:36]. She is like the devil." He said, "Yes!"
[Audience laughter]
He now quoted scriptures. He said, "Sir, suffer not the witch to live." Some things are pitiable. Please help me with my handkerchief, is it there? Oh, my wife is telling me that I should try and stop. Yes ma. I will listen to my wife now, please. I will stop now. So I won't say question and answer. Yes, I will stop please.
So Mommy, just very soon now I will drop the mic. Now when he now said that, he said so sir, how should we relate with that kind of a wife? I said, sir, you are to love her. [Yoruba 00:28:43 - 00:28:46]. He said, "Sir, what did you say?" I said yes. He said, "To what extent?" I said to death.
He said, "Husband, love your wife as Christ loved the church." So Christ loved the church, [Yoruba 00:29:02 - 00:29:10]? I was a very, very bad boy before Jesus met with me. [Yoruba 00:29:14 - 00:29:19]? Yes! He said go and die for her so that she can live. Is that not the vow? Am I giving him extra work? Is that not the vow? To love her according to the word of God.
Brethren, I just want to say this about price and prizes. Let me- let me sum up something, let me sum something up this way because I want us to go to question and answer. I want to wrap up two things as one. Okay, let me- let me do it like this. I believe we are familiar with the story of the Gibeonites, Joshua and the vow Joshua made to the Gibeonites. Are we familiar with that story? Are we familiar? Okay.
They came and a covenant was established between them and Israel. Joshua understands the meaning of vow and covenant. So deliberately Joshua, having made that vow, when they wanted to kill them, what did Joshua do? He didn't allow the children of Israel to do so. Is that not? But there was a king that- that came up later in Israel that tried to kill all the Gibeonites. Who was that king? Thank you sir, thank you ma, King Saul. He went ahead and started killing them. God kept quiet. God did not say anything. [Yoruba 00:31:18 - 00:31:21]. That you prosper in evil does not mean that you are guiltless.
[Yoruba 00:31:28 - 00:31:35]. God is looking. But God did not say anything. It was later during the reign of King David there was famine in the land. One year, two years, three years. David now went to God, "God, what is happening? What is causing this? God said it is because of the bloody house of Saul." So go and call the Gibeonites, let them bless you.
Some of us, we need each other's blessing so that our blessing can be restored. We need to say I'm sorry about certain things, about certain attitude. Let us bless ourselves. Let us look at some things and rewrite our home, so that God can command blessing in your home. He said call them to bless you. So he called the Gibeonites, David. He said, "What do you want?" He said, "Please, give us seven sons of Saul, which we want to kill them." May we not become a problem to our generation.
So they brought the seven sons of Saul. When David was bringing them, he was careful. He didn't take any of the son of Jonathan because he had a covenant with Jonathan. [Yoruba 00:33:14 - 00:33:23]. So he took other seven children. They killed them. And when they killed them, they now blessed Israel, then the problem was over.
You know what I want to tell you? A covenant was established by deceit and God was defending it. A covenant was established by deceit and God was defending it. What do you think God will do to your home that was not by deceit? God is a defender of covenant.
There is something my friend, Pastor Olukpona, said. He said he who breaks a covenant will be broken by that covenant, and that is the truth. He who breaks a covenant will be broken by that covenant. God came back and God made sure that Saul was broken by that covenant that he break, that he broke, sorry. God came back. What of when you now [Yoruba 00:34:42 - 00:34:52], God is noting all of it. [Yoruba 00:34:56 - 00:35:10].
What you see is the implication of what we are doing today. I want to beg you, brethren. My concern is that let us make our house a place where God can command blessing. Different kind of blessing, [Yoruba 00:35:28 - 00:35:36]. Let your home be a place where God can command blessing.
Number two, where God can command life. So that because of your- because of your foolishness, your children don't be- don't become children that will not meet with salvation. A place where God can command life. Because of your foolishness, your home don't become a place where God cannot give revelation. Because we need revelation to run our lives. Am I wrong? We need revelation. [Yoruba 00:36:14 - 00:36:18]. That is life. When God did this to Adam, [makes noise], he became a living being. We need the breath of God at all time, but God commands that where? Where brethren dwell together in unity.
I will drop the matter here. We'll move to the next session. I want you to just pray. Please, hold your spouse, hold your spouse. I want you to just pray. I want you to talk to God. Please hold your spouse, I want you to talk to God. Just talk to God about your- your marriage vow again. Talk to God, say God help us. [Yoruba 00:37:05 - 00:37:09], Lord, help us to stand by ourselves.
Lord, help us. I know my wife is not perfect, I know my husband is not perfect, there are things about him, even me myself there are things about me, but God help us. Help us. We want our home to be a place where you can command your blessings. We want it to be a place where there can be life. Lord God Almighty, we are saying again today that Lord, we will stand by our vows. We will stand by our word. You are a God of covenant. You are a God of covenant. You stand by covenant. Help us to be like you, make us to be like you, to have respect for covenant, to respect the promise we made, to respect the vow we made. Lord please help us. Lord please help us. Help us not to be tough on one another. Help us not to be tough on one another. Help us to be tenderhearted, to be forgiving, overlooking, forbearing.
Lord help us! In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus. And every devices of the devil, the Bible says we don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against power, against rulers of darkness and wickedness in heavenly places. Lord, every devices of the devil against our unity today, we break them, today we scatter them. Every devices of hell to blind our eyes from seeing that we are no longer two. Every devices of the devil to make us not to see ourselves as one. Oh Lord today we say they come to an end by the power of Jesus, by the power of the cross. We bring them to an end. Lord, open our eyes to see that we are no longer two. We are no longer two. Help us to realize it, help us to know it, help us to stand by it, in the name of Jesus. Thank you, Father. In Jesus' name we pray.
[Speaker 3]
Amen.
[Speaker 2]
If we have questions, please can we raise our hands? Thank you, ma. One. I want to give number and if you don't want to come up here to ask your question, you can also write them down. Write down the question and pass to the front. Our mommy, the mommy that raised her hand, please you can come up. Any other one? Okay, ma, two. Okay, three, ma. So please note your number. Then for those of us who don't want to come up, please you can write and pass to the front.
[Speaker 4]
Thank you very much, sir and ma. My question is this. Ma, when you were having that- ma, when you were talking to us the other time, a question came to my mind and I wrote it down here. The passage you read said we should submit to our husbands. But ma, when we look at the present day situation, we see that the rate of- okay, the rate of divorce is becoming monumental. And where they are managing, in quotes now, you see that the rate at which spouses abuse each other, they even kill, the wickedness and the killing.
Do we still advise that the woman should patiently stay in such a union till she dies or till she's killed? In such a situation, after praying and praying and praying, but the husband does not value her for one thing, for anything at all, rather than valuing her, the man debases her and threatening that, "I will kill you." [Yoruba 00:41:43 - 00:41:48]? Should that woman still stay in that marriage till she dies or till the man kills her? Because it's prevalent in our society these days. Ma, I want us to look at it and maybe you can proffer solutions or maybe advice, because if we take a census of many of us here, by the time people start telling you what they're experiencing back home, you'll be surprised. Even outside there, in the society, many couples now reside as tenants. They're just tenants. Ma, sir, what can we do?
[Speaker 2]
Number two. Number two, please come forward. Number three can start coming up please, so we will not waste our time.
[Speaker 5]
Praise the Lord. Sir, still looking at the rate of divorce these days. I want to ask this question, is it all marriage that are ordained by God? [Yoruba 00:43:10 - 00:43:12]?
[Speaker 2]
Question number three, ma. If you have written yours, please just signify so that I can come collect. If you have written your question.
[Speaker 6]
Okay, I think mine is similar to Mommy Daramola's own too, that what is your stand on physical abuse? I did a study and I found out that a lot of women are going abuse. There's a lot of violence against women and I'm talking about physical now. We see Christians and non-Christians beating their wives. What should that woman do?
[Speaker 2]
Praise the Lord. So we have a question here, two in one. Marriage when life is threatened, when there is abuse, particularly that can lead to loss of life, physical assault, what should the woman do? The place of submission is sacrosanct, that's one thing. At the same time, when it comes to life being threatened, God hates divorce. But there is a wisdom that is put forward by marriage counselors, by men of God, having seen that [Yoruba 00:44:53 - 00:44:58]?
And in such situation, the situation is not to divorce the man. The situation provides an opportunity for what? A physical separation. That is after all avenue had been exhausted. Maybe the home, the ministers, family, everyone had intervened in one way or the other, but there was no change. In such a situation so that no life be lost, what will happen? Is to separate them and this separation is not that it's a divorce. No.
But to separate them from opportunity where they will get at each other and not even be able to control themselves to the one kill the other. And in the process of the separation, it's not for either party to think, "now I'm off the hook." No. The separation is just an opportunity for the other person, the two of them, to be helped. The one maybe is the woman being assaulted, I've also seen a situation where a man is assaulted, in fact they are both medical doctors. Terrible. You wouldn't expect that maybe it will happen among illiterate.
It's the woman that is assaulting the man and all they could do when all intervention had failed is to let's separate- let them stay aside in different place. So that is the what we advise. But it's not divorce, get us well. And it is not an opportunity to say now that I'm out there, you now don't put anything in place, you have forgotten about the man or woman, you think the you have nothing to do with the life, no. Even in that, is a- is a call, to a serious intervention in counseling, in prayer, seeking the face of God, building. It could even be way of helping the other person to unlearn one thing or the other.
Praise the Lord. The second one said- are you not- in all- is all marriage ordained by God? Yes! Because I've not seen any other ordained by anybody. This is the blueprint that told us where marriage came from. But not all marriages are governed by the principle of the word of God. The marriage that is not governed by the principle of the word of God, they are marriages of people that are not children of God.
So if your marriage, if you call yourself a child of God, you are somebody that has- that is an heir of God, that you know your Father has gone to prepare a place for you in heaven, you have a right to the inheritance of God. Then that marriage must be governed by the principle of the word of God. That is all I have for that. Every marriages, they are ordained by God.
But who governs yours depend on who you submit yourself to. So if you submit yourself to God, you have no other roadmap, you have no other guidelines than the word of God. May that not be our portion in Jesus' name. But if you're a child of God and the word of God, God's own manual, is not your guide, your own map in your own marriage, then you know who you belong to. No longer God. Then your marriage is being governed by the principles of the devil. May that not be our portion in Jesus' name.
I also have here, before my husband adds more to them. "When a woman is being submissive, enduring a lot of mistreatment from the man and his family, even in her own home. It will virtually come to a time when she cannot endure anymore. When exactly is she to speak out? Especially in the area of emotional abuse."
Praise the Lord. Let me quickly answer this and I don't have any other way. When we are talking about speaking out, are you talking about speaking out to somebody or speaking out, getting back at your husband? This question is not clear but I will answer the two. If it is to speak out and getting back at your husband, there is no time where you will do that because you will not get the- you will not get results.
You will not get solution in speaking out, and that's the reason the Bible has given us the blueprint, that through our chaste, our chaste way of life, godly life, life that shows that you are a child of God, somebody that has yielded his neck to the yoke of Jesus. Through a life that is guided by God, through a life that is submissive, quiet, gentle and spirit, your husband will observe your lifestyle and that is potent enough to change him.
There is no other potent thing than what the Word has said. If it is to speak out and get back at it, you might achieve a result, but I can tell you, it cannot be the God-required kind of result. Then if it is to speak out to somebody out there to help you, a marriage counselor, your pastor, your minister, there's nothing wrong with that if you have been working. Bible even talks about you that if there are brethren that have quarrel and you try to win your brother, it's not working. He said you call two, one or two along. So that is a place of speaking out, calling somebody to assist, seeking counsel, seeking help. That is in order. Because through that, help will come to the home.
Praise the Lord. I think while my wife was speaking, some other questions were coming in. I would also- let me respond to them quickly before I make a general statement anyway. But please let me just say this. I couldn't understand this question, maybe you look at it.
Please, let me just say this on a very general note. If you look at Matthew chapter 19, when they were asking Jesus whether a man can put away his wife for any reason and Jesus said that, "Have they not read that he made them male and female, he who made them from the beginning made them male and female and said..." and then eventually Jesus said that so they are no longer two but one. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.
Do you notice that they raised the same question that our mommy who came first to talk raised. They said, "Why then did Moses allow us to put away our wife by giving them a note of divorcement?" Now what I want to say is this. You see, marital instability is not a new thing. Studies, somehow too, my area of research, I'm a sociologist researching into family and marriage. And what our mommy said is true, that instability has taken a very worrisome dimension today.
But I want you to note this. That the Bible- the Bible makes something very, very clear. That when the matter of not being able to live with a woman or not being able to stay together become a matter between two people, to the extent that we are now saying that let them live separately. See, let me tell you this. And I make bold to say it. Number one is that those involved in that marriage, no matter what they call them, they are people whose heart is not a heart that has experienced, or that have experienced conversion.
Jesus said, "It's because of the hardness of their heart." And do you know that for the Jews, it was also such that the men, they will do everything to kill the woman so they can marry another one. Why Moses saw that they were killing the women, some will poison the woman, you can read the history. That was why Moses said, "Than for the woman to die, give her letter to go." So it's not a new thing.
So when you see that a woman cannot live with a man, the man is a beast, no matter what you call him, he's a beast. There is a problem with his heart. That's the truth. You may call them pastors, you may call them brothers, they are spiritual bastards. [Yoruba 00:54:10 - 00:54:12], that's the truth about it. So there are situations like my wife has said that we must, if life is at stake, we may need to separate.
Now there are some- other questions here that I've tried to read through. It says, "How can I rekindle my love, how can I rekindle my love for my spouse?" How can you do it? I think number one, the person who asked this question should know that the love of God, as a believer, the love of God has been spread abroad in your heart. So it is for you to release what is in you.
It is for you to release what is in you. It has been shed in your heart. The love of God has been shed in your heart. Now what you need to do is that if you are having emotional block, then why not talk to God? Ask God to heal your emotions. But the truth is that the love of God has been poured in your heart. If you pray to God to heal your emotions, then it can be rekindled.
