The prayer of jabez 4

These are words of restoration and instruction in righteousness from Family Tent Ministry. May you be blessed as you listen. [Speaker 1] Last week, we were looking at the prayer item of Jabez where he said that God should bless him and bless him indeed. So, we want to ask ourselves what was our major takeaway last week. Who is going to start the ball rolling? Who is starting the ball rolling? Abrayo. [Speaker 2] Praise the Lord. I thank God for the lesson on the prayer of Jabez because through that lesson, I got more confidence that if I can call upon God and sincerely seek the face of God, God can answer my prayer. Because when somebody is facing challenges or you are facing one difficulty, people will say that you need a prophet. You need a prophet, whether you are spiritual or not. And that thing has been affecting my mind, as if does it mean that the prayer I am praying myself is not, I cannot pray and God will answer my prayer. But through what Daddy is teaching us about this prayer of Jabez, that if somebody pray, when you pray to a point, God will answer. So, that one, my confidence was renewed through that message that God can answer my prayer. [Speaker 1] Thank you. Thank you. That was three weeks ago. Last week is our concern. But that is a major point of lesson. His personal prayer life was renewed in terms of confidence to access God's presence. Honestly too, for myself, even though I was the one that took the lesson that day, the Lord's taking me through those passages that I shared with you, particularly on whatever you bind, Heaven binds, when the Lord was showing me those things, it was really something that brought another confidence again about prayer for me as a person that was even taking the lesson. Mr. Comfort wants to say something? [Speaker 3] Yes, last week we were looking at being blessed indeed. And one particular thing that stood out for me is the fact that to be blessed indeed is to be relevant in the purpose of God, to have a relationship with God, a working relationship with God, a fresh relationship with God, daily relationship with God, and then be in His purpose. I got to understand that a man may have so much of the material things and yet not blessed indeed. Though the material things are blessings also, but they are not the blessings indeed. It opened my eyes to know what to seek better. And in the course of the week, it translated into, as I was looking at the life of Samson, I realized that if a man is not blessed indeed, he can dabble into anything. If he doesn't prize the blessings of God, the blessing that is blessing indeed, sin will bind him. Sin will bind him and make him a slave even to man or to his enemy. Praise the Lord. [Speaker 4] Praise the Lord. In addition to what others have said, to be blessed indeed is something that is above any earthly or transient or temporal blessings. Everything in this world, they are temporal, but it's an eternal blessing. I learned that, and that's when a man obtains mercy and grace for relevance, eternal relevance. So, when we seek for God's blessing, we should first seek for that, what will make our life to be eternally relevant in God's hand. Then particularly about the request of Solomon, God so much appreciated what he requested for. That was why God added all other things. And that is to make us see what God values. And God wants us to value Him. Indeed, we may have every other thing, but the one that will make us to serve God, to do the things of God, to establish the kingdom of God, to bring the dominion of God into every area of our life, our environment, people in our life, those are the things that are called blessings indeed. So, we should seek for such things when we are seeking for the blessings of God, seeking for things that will have eternal relevance, that will make us to disciple men, that will make us to be relevant in people's life, take dominion in everywhere and hand them over to the Lord Jesus. Destroying the work of the devil everywhere we are and establishing the kingdom of God. So, these are the things we should seek for. These are blessings indeed. If God will use us to do that, if God will make us relevant in this aspect, we are blessed indeed. Praise the Lord. [Speaker 1] Hallelujah. As we speak now, I just remembered the lesson we shared one time in this place, even though we could not emphasize it last week. The lesson we shared on if one were to consider ordinarily the rich man and Lazarus. Ordinarily, let's look at it ordinarily, who do we consider blessed? Of course, the rich man was able to make a lot of expansion here and there, was able to acquire a lot of things. But there was a problem somewhere. Something was missing. And I remember when we looked at that topic then, we asked ourselves if you are to make a choice between the two lives, which will you choose? I remember that we all concluded that it is good to choose Lazarus than to choose the rich man. And all our consideration that day, we were considering the end of both of them. That it is how a man ends that matters. And honestly, at the end, the only thing that matters is that you have a life with God. At the end, that is the only thing that matters. No other thing will matter. Let's move on again to that 1 Chronicles 4:9-10. Verse 10 in particular. "And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, Oh, that you would bless me indeed." Something occurred into my mind now. Immediately Satan succeeded in making Eve to eat that fruit and of course, humanity through Adam eventually fell into sin. Was Satan not through with the two of them? Was he not through with them? He was through. He was through with them. So, it means the only thing in our life that Satan seeks to really take, when you say the enemy is going about seeking whom to devour, it's not really about the money, about the... I don't know whether you are getting the point I'm trying to bring out. Immediately he took that life from them, he was through with them. That was the only thing he wanted to take from them. He knew that if that one is away, every other thing that they are inside the garden that they are eating, that whatever will be going on, for him, he was through. So, what I'm trying to say is that the real thing Satan wants to take, when you say Satan is after you, it's not so much what Satan can take. Once Satan can remove that life, that personal walk with God, and you are just on your own and you can go into anything like somebody said earlier, you can misbehave, you can live anyhow, you can do anything, you can just take direction from yourself and live the way you like, Satan is through with you. Because if you look at the battle, the Bible says if this Gospel is hidden from anyone, it is hidden from those whom the god of this age have blinded their eyes from receiving the Gospel of life. That's what he's busy doing. And with what is he blinding people? The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, the pride of life. That's what he's using. Once Satan can deal with your walk with God, that inner life that you carry, Satan is through with your life. He's through with your life because he knows that without that life, what eventually happened to man? The Bible says the imagination of man became very wicked. Man became corrupt, so evil. Cain could kill Abel. What began to come out of man? Murderers, hatred, violence that eventually resulted to God destroying the earth with water. When that life was out of man, what remained of man? Corruption, wickedness, godlessness. And look at society today. What is going on? Corruption, wickedness, rape, malice, hatred, bitterness, murder, killing, violence. All of this is just going on. And who do you say is in charge? Who is at work? So, you can see that the only thing, the real thing about you when you say Satan is after you, is this life that we have in God. It's to suffocate it, it's to get you out of it, it's to make you do one or two things that will take that life, that will take you out of that life. And once Satan can take you out of that life, Satan is through with you. You may look as if you have, but actually what remains is nothing. That is why someone was saying that it would have been far, far better for Adam and Eve that moment the life left them, they should just fall down and die. Everything would have ended with them. God would have started another thing. But the fact that they were alive and they were producing in that situation was a terrible thing. So, when a man don't have the life of God and he's raising family, what is he raising? Godless sons, godless daughters. What will come into society? Corrupt people. But when you find the life of God in a man, what will he begin to raise? So, you find out that it would have been beneficial for humanity if immediately they sinned like that at that beginning, the two of them just fall down and there was nothing again to enjoy. They just die and then God created something else that did not carry that life on. So, a man is actually useless when the life of God is out of him. Whatever will be coming out of him is not something that will be profitable for humanity. What began to emanate from Adam was not profitable to humanity. So, let's daily cry, God, don't just bless me, bless me indeed. Don't just surround my life with every other thing apart from Your life, the life of God. Until a man has the life of God, he's not blessed indeed. So, I want to move on looking at this prayer of Jabez and we are checking issues one after the other. Now, the next item in that prayer of Jabez, 1 Chronicles 4:10, after he had said "Oh, that You would bless me indeed," the next thing is, "and enlarge my territory." King James will say "enlarge my coast." What does this mean for a man's territory to be enlarged? What does it really mean? Because we have seen something very, very crucial already. What is crucial already is that if all that a man has is physical and material blessing, the man is actually eternally useless. He's not blessed indeed. He must carry eternal life. He must carry a walk with God. Now, this man is asking, he's saying, Lord, enlarge my coast. When Adam began to multiply himself in that state of the loss of a life with God, the loss of not being able to stay in God's presence, when he began to multiply himself, was Adam really multiplying? Of course, more and more human beings were coming, but all of those human beings in that state, what were they useful for? You will notice that when we begin to trace it, you'll be tracing some people that seems to be different. Cain versus Abel. Who did we single out? Abel. You notice that the one that pleased God was the one that actually became the line for Adam. The one that did not please God was a minus. So, that when we come to this matter of God, enlarge my coast. Why did He make them one? In Malachi 2, why did He make them one? Because He seek a godly offspring. So, when Bible say Adam knew his wife, Eve was an extension of Adam, they became one and, of course, in that oneness something began to happen with Adam. Seed began to come out. But you will realize if you look at Malachi that Cain did not fall into that seed. Who fell into that seed? Abel. But because Abel was suffocated by Cain, who now came forth? Seth. And then the line started again from Seth. That of Cain was not reckoned with. I'm trying to make you see that if a man is able to possess life eternal but beginning with that man, the son, the daughter, once they don't possess the same thing, the man don't have a coast. For a man's coast to be enlarged, you may first look at it from the point of physical things, a man have money and things were expanded, but we have left that line last week. We entered another line. Now, in that line that we entered, what does this really mean for God to enlarge the coast of a man? Let's begin in terms of God enlarging the coast of a man. Why is eternal record eternally silent about the children of Moses? Have you ever taken time to wonder? He seek a godly seed. But there was just a total silence. There was nothing said about them, there was nothing said about what they began to do, nothing said about who they became. There was a silence. Okay, let's leave that. Let's come to Samuel. Remember our father Samuel? Samuel the priest who anointed Saul and anointed also David. The Bible says Samuel would go in a circuit. He would normally go in a circuit round and then he would come back to Ramah. But the Bible says Samuel grew up under Eli. The sons of Eli, they were worthless children for they know not the Lord. Their father knew the Lord, but they did not know the Lord. What happened to the coast of Eli? Do you notice that there was no coast? You know there was really no coast? Why? Because there was no transfer from the father to the children. Look at Samuel. You know at a point, Samuel made his children judges over Israel. But what was the problem? They say they were not like their father, for they perverted justice. The only thing that singled Samuel from Eli was that Samuel removed them. Samuel did not allow them to continue. He didn't allow them to continue. I'm trying to make you see that the expansion of a man in the purpose of God is something that God wants to begin from where? From his own house. The man want to take charge over the church of God, but God want to be sure that the man is able to rule his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence. For if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God? Are you seeing that the expansion of a man in the purpose of God is something that God wants to begin from his home? You see, we are talking about fruitfulness. Fruitfulness, ability to reproduce the life of God. But the point is this, I am showing you that the pattern of God in this reproduction is that God seek that it should begin from a man's house. Except if God is not giving you into marriage. But if God is giving you into marriage, the desire of God is that it should begin from there. It should begin. When you seek to enlarge your coast, brethren, I want to tell you this thing. You must seek that that life that you obtain, that eternal life, does not end with you. You must painstakingly do everything to transfer that life first at home. And then it moves on from there to other labor in the vineyard. Look at what Joshua said in Joshua 24. "As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord." Look at the case of the jailer in Acts 16. [Acts 16:20] "And they brought them to the magistrates, these men being Jews exceedingly trouble our city, and they teach customs which are not lawful for us being Romans to receive or observe. Then the multitude rose up together against them and the magistrates tore their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet into the stock. But at midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundation of the prison were shaken and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loose. And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice saying, Do yourself no harm, for we are all here. Then he called for a light, ran in and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, you and your household." Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and all who were in his house. And they took them that same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. What has happened to the coast of this man? His coast has been enlarged. Let me explain it to you physically, maybe you are not understanding it. You will notice that if a man is a medical doctor, if a man is in a particular business, you will notice that they will be doing everything to also produce a medical doctor among their children. Why? Because they know if all their children become teacher, lawyer, and whatever, what will happen to the hospital at the death of the man? It will close down. That is why even among the Yoruba, they will be saying that "Owo t'aba f'oju omo mo." That whatever is in your hand, do everything. Why do fathers show their children their properties? They are just concerned about earthly things. We came naked, we are going to go back naked. We are not going to take one of them. And look at everything that they are doing. Go omo ko ma ba gbe'le ta. They are just concerned about earthly possession. They want to develop moras, they want to develop children so that heritage can remain. What should we do with godly heritage? What should be our mindset when we know actually that a man is not blessed indeed if he does not have eternal relevance? When we know actually if a man has the whole of this life, even if he can possess the whole earth, it's nothing compared to his soul. Yet men are striving that what is not, what cannot be compared to their soul is not lost from their line. "Ah, omo mi lo mo." If I pass on to Hell and you are saying that and it looks as if you are saying something. Why don't you also say that God, I don't mind koma tie jogun mi rara? You are not praying that. You are wishing quietly, you are doing things so that you don't want it to be lost. And yet the real life, I'm trying to make you see that there is a blindness somewhere. There is a covering cast somewhere. Something is covering us as believers. Particularly today when you look around and you find out that sometimes you find out children that are godless, they are children of godly parents. It calls for a cry, a cry unto God, the way Jabez cried. It calls for a cry to weep, to say no! There must be a transfer. I'm trying to make you understand something. I'm trying to make you see this law of multiplicity. That a man should not only seek to be blessed, a man should seek to be blessed indeed. And a man must cry to God for his coast to be enlarged. Let me tell you why you must cry. The reason why you must cry for an enlarged coast is that nobody can come to God, to Jesus, except the Father draws him. Salvation belongs to God. And when God was talking about how people can be saved, what did He say in 1 Timothy? He said, I wish that first of all that prayer, supplication, intercession and thanksgiving be made for leaders so that we can live in an atmosphere where people can be saved. You see that salvation is tied to prayers. There is a God, nobody can come to God, nobody can come to Jesus except the Father draws. And so it becomes so crucial that as believers, we understand these prayers. And we must stay with God, we must cry with God, we must plead with God, tell God, my coast must not be small. No Lord, it cannot be small. And we are diligently as we lie down, as we rise up, as we sit up, as we walk with them, we want to make sure it is transferred. The way people diligently do everything to transfer physical wealth. "Ah, mi o fe ki omo mi ma je iya, mi o fe ki omo mi ma je iya." We are talking about that in terms of physical things. And so, "Oh, ki omo mi ma ba Olorun lo." And I don't know how to explain that. So, I'm trying to say that there should be an awakening today. There should be a great cry in the land about the extent to which today godless children are coming out of godly parents. The rate is increasing. I don't know whether you notice it too. Look at some of the youth in church. By the time you try to trace it, you'll find out, "Ah, baba e ni pastor. Baba e ni eleyi. Baba e ni iyen." It's the son of this, it's the child of that. Ah, you know that brother that is fire for the Lord? Ah, that is his daughter, that one is his daughter. This thing calls for serious concern for us believers. We must cry to God that God, enlarge my coast. We must diligently work towards it. We must diligently see to it. We must! Because the dragon, when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child. When the enemy cannot get the parents, what will he go for immediately? He goes for their children. He did everything to get the woman, but God helped. And I'm talking to you, that kind of help that your life got is the prayer you must pray for your children. That Heaven will help them, that the earth will help them, that everything will cooperate with them, that they will escape the persecution of the dragon. Once they cannot be caught, he goes for their children. And for those ones who does not have biological children, he goes for their labor, their labor in the vineyard to destroy their testimony. So, I'm just showing you a line. A line we must take our children to see. That as long as Satan cannot get me, then you become a potential target. That's the truth. If we cannot get him, let's make sure that this coast is not enlarged. Let us stop it here. Let's be sure they don't enlarge this coast. Because if this boy again gets this same thing, there will be five people. Let's be sure it ends with the man. It does not go to his seed. It's the same thing when you say that a man, I want you to look at it, that as a man you have succeeded in doing something and God gave you houses and land and at your death, none of your children could take possession of any of them. Is that man blessed? That man is not blessed. Nobody ever wants it that way. That is why you see people, they will write will, they will do everyone, everybody wants a transfer. And don't you see how Satan is making us short-sighted that the real life, even when they are not transferred, we just care very little? "Ah, omo e lo mo. O mo e lo mo. Fi won sile, fi won sile." And so it becomes so crucial that as believers, we understand these prayers. And we must stay with God, we must cry with God, we must plead with God, tell God, my coast must not be small. Look at some of the youth in church. By the time you try to trace it, you'll find out, "Ah, baba e ni pastor. Baba e ni eleyi. Baba e ni iyen." It's the son of this, it's the child of that. Ah, you know that brother that is fire for the Lord? Ah, that is his daughter, that one is his daughter. This thing calls for serious concern for us believers. We must cry to God that God, enlarge my coast. We must diligently work towards it. We must diligently see to it. We must! Because the dragon, when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child. When the enemy cannot get the parents, what will he go for immediately? He goes for their children. He did everything to get the woman, but God helped. And I'm talking to you, that kind of help that your life got is the prayer you must pray for your children. That Heaven will help them, that the earth will help them, that everything will cooperate with them, that they will escape the persecution of the dragon. Once they cannot be caught, he goes for their children. And for those ones who does not have biological children, he goes for their labor, their labor in the vineyard to destroy their testimony. So, I'm just showing you a line. A line we must take our children to see. That as long as Satan cannot get me, then you become a potential target. That's the truth.
