WE REALLY CAN OWN NOTHING (Part 2)

These are words of restoration and instruction in righteousness from Family Tents Ministry. May you be blessed as you listen. [Speaker 2] Praise ye the Lord. Hallelujah to the name of our God. Blessed be His holy name. We thank Him again for the mercies that have brought us into today's meeting. We give Him all the glory. We trust in Him again that as we move on with this meeting, the Lord Himself will meet with every one of us. Those of us who are here physically, our brethren who are joining us on Mixlr, our brethren who are joining us on Telegram, we trust the Lord that as we pick the matter from where we left it last week, the Lord will meet with each and every one of us. And my prayer is that every time we meet like this, may Christ be formed in us. Because that's the whole essence of discipleship: may Christ, that Christ be formed in us. So that it will not just be a daily coming and hearing of teachings, but rather it will be something that is also transforming our lives. May we daily experience the transformation that comes from the power of resurrection in the name of Jesus Christ. We started a new topic, a new theme, or a series last week, and we looked at some foundational issues about this last week. The topic is We Can Actually Own Nothing. We really, in the actual sense of it, we own nothing. It only look as if we can own, but in the reality is that we cannot own. Nothing can actually be our own because we are accountable in all things. And last week, our focus was to address we as believers, having the right attitude. Attitude towards things. The correct attitude of we are mere stewards. Stewards of God's money. The money in your hand is not your own. Your time is not your own. Your life is not your own. Anything you think is in your hand. [Music playing] All right. All right. So, we want to move on. We want to move on from where we left the matter last week. We saw in the life of Solomon. Solomon died and was buried. Everything was transferred to Rehoboam. Again, Rehoboam died and was buried. Everything was transferred again to Abijah. Of course, Abijah too will die and will be buried, and everything was transferred again to Asa. We said on and on and on the circle continues for all men. We only hold whatever is in our hand for a while. We only hold them for a while. And today, I want us, what the Bible says, the Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. Psalm 24 was the text we ended up with last week. And that is where I want to begin from today. We want to see how the matter came for Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon. How did the matter, this matter of owning or not owning, how did it come for Nebuchadnezzar? Let's see Jeremiah 27. Jeremiah 27. The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. The book of Jeremiah 27. I will take my reading from verse one. Jeremiah 27:1: In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, King of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, "Thus says the Lord to me: Make for yourself bonds and yokes and put them on your neck, and send them to the King of Edom, the King of Moab, the King of the Ammonites, the King of Tyre, the King of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who came to Jerusalem to Zedekiah, King of Judah. And command them to say to their masters, 'Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel. Thus shall you say to your masters: I have made the Earth, the man, and the beast that are on the ground.'" Hallelujah. Don't forget where we left the matter last week. The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. Why anybody cannot own anything is because the Earth is the Lord's, the fullness thereof, the people and everything that is in it, they belong to Him. So you cannot own anything, for everything belongs to Him. God can only give you these things to manage on His behalf. That is why forever you are a steward. And you see the matter coming up in Jeremiah. God sent messengers, the messengers of the various kings that came to Jerusalem. God was sending those messengers back to their masters, to the various king of these nations. And what God was telling them is, "See, I have made the Earth. Everybody, we are all tenants. There is only one landlord. That landlord is the Lord." You are a tenant. You are only holding it for a while. This brag that people brag about owning, the arrogance that comes from [clapping noise] the beast that are on it, on the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched hand. God wanted them to know because these kings, they were acting foolishly as under-owns. They were looking at themselves as final authority. And God was trying to address their foolishness, the same foolishness that many of us also have today. God said, "Look, tell all these your masters that I made the Earth, the man, and the beast that are on the Earth. I made them by My great power and by My outstretched hand. And have given it to whom it seems proper to Me." Do you see it? So anyone that come to your hand, how did you get it? How did you get it? You were given. "I have given it to whom it seems proper to Me. And now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, My servant. And the beast of the field, I have also given them to him to serve him. So all nations shall serve him and his son and his son's son until the time of his land come. And then many nations and great kings shall make him serve them." Hallelujah. I'm trying to show you scripture, brothers and sisters, wherever you are listening to me. I'm trying to make you see how the matter actually stands. I'm trying to paint the picture that the scripture painted. I'm trying to make clear and trying to bring to your very side what the scripture says about this matter of owning. I would like to read what I read in NLT. Let me read it in NLT. NLT: "By My great power I have made the Earth and all its people and every animal. I can give these things of Mine to anyone I choose." The things, they are God's. He says, "I can give these things of Mine. May it dawn on you that they are not yours in the name of Jesus. I can give these things of Mine to anyone I choose." Verse six: "Now I will give your countries to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who is My servant. I will put everything, even the wild animals, under his control. All the nations will serve him and his son and his grandson until his time is up." Do you see that it is God also determines the time? The time that was given for Nebuchadnezzar is he will be king. After him, his son will follow. After that, his son, the son of that son will follow. After that, [slapping noise] God will take everything again from that family. God will transfer it to another person. So when you look at the matter, He says, "All nations will serve him, his son, and his grandson until his time is up. But then many nations and great king will conquer and rule over Babylon." I don't know whether you are see what the Bible is saying. Verse eight: "It shall be that the nation and kingdom which will not serve Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, which will not put its neck under the yoke of the King of Babylon, that nation I will punish," says the Lord, "with sword, with famine, with pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand." Are you seeing what the Bible is saying? God said anybody that don't submit to Nebuchadnezzar, what is going to happen is that God will use famine, God will use pestilence, God will use the sword. That is what Nebuchadnezzar will be. God will use all of those things by Nebuchadnezzar to destroy such nation because they refuse to agree to serve Nebuchadnezzar. Now, why am I pointing these things to you? Why am I showing you this? Is for you to have a clear understanding, a statement that John made. In the gospel according to John, John the Baptist made that statement. He said, "No man can receive anything except what?" Except it is given to him from above. John 3:27. You cannot receive anything. It is not because you are smart. It's not because you can do it well. It's not because you are intelligent. It's not because you are the fastest. It's not because you are the swiftest. It's not because you are the strongest. I don't know which word you want to put. The Bible says no man can receive anything except it is given to him from above. Whatever you were able to get was what was released. It was released to us by the owner. May the Lord deliver you from the spirit of being possessed by possession, instead of possessing possessions in the name of Jesus Christ. So the reality is that there is nothing that is in our hand that we do not receive. He said, "The King of Babylon will punish any nation, any kingdom, any nation that will not serve Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, that will not bring its yoke under their neck, they will be doing me too I know how to do it." What is simply going to happen is that God is going to punish that nation through Nebuchadnezzar because God already decided that it should go to him. So anybody will not be able to fight him. Anybody will not be able to withstand him. He will destroy all of them. He will take over their land. They will be his captive. He's going to be a world ruler. He's going to be the king. He's going to build this empire and everybody must have to submit to that empire. But it's not because Nebuchadnezzar have the best of army. It's not because he has the best of military formation. It's not because of superior firepower. It's not because of any military tactics. The real reason is that God is giving it to him. The person who owns it is giving it to him. Now, the reason why you need to look at this and look at this and look at this matter very, very closely is so that you can appreciate matters. You can appreciate issues when you look into your life. You can understand it. And you will notice that when Nebuchadnezzar was not seeing this matter the way he ought to see it, there were consequences. The consequences were they were very serious. Let's look at the book of Daniel. The book of Daniel, let's see what how the matter went for Nebuchadnezzar, just as a way of we taking instructions for our own life. Let's look at the book of Daniel. Let's see what happened in Daniel 4. Let's see how the matter turned out for Nebuchadnezzar when he begins to unnecessarily raise up his head and God had to remind him that no, it is not so. It is not something that is so. Nebuchadnezzar as a good example of this matter. Daniel 4:1: "Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all people, nations, and languages that dwell in all the Earth: Peace be multiplied to you. I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me. How great are His signs and how mighty His wonders. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation. I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house and flourishing in my palace. And I saw a dream which made me afraid, and I thought on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me. Therefore I issued a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. Then the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers came in, and I told them the dream, but they could not make known to me its interpretation." You see God is sovereign. Hallelujah. God is sovereign. You cannot joke with God. You remember that in Daniel 2 when this same king had a dream and he forgot the dream? The magicians, the astrologers, all of them, what they told the king was that look, there is no king on Earth who have asked the magicians to do what you are asking the magicians to do. That you are the one who had a dream and you have forgotten the dream and you want us to tell you the dream and the interpretation. "No, you tell us the dream, and then we'll tell you the interpretation." The king could not remember the dream. As a result, the magician, they could not manipulate or do anything with that dream because their position is that until they know the dream, they will not be able to do anything. But Daniel came anyway and interpreted, he told the king his dream and then he went ahead to interpret the dream. This time around, God wants to show the magicians how foolish and stupid they are, or they were. Since you said you need the dream so that you'll be able to interpret, this time around the king could remember the dream and he told them the dream. But what do you see that they are saying again? They could not interpret the dream. Hallelujah to the Most High God. Hallelujah to the Most High God who can do and undo. Blessed be His holy name in the name of Jesus Christ. Verse 8: "But at last Daniel came before me. His name is Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god. In him is the spirit of the Holy God. And I told the dream before him, saying, 'Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the Holy God is in you.'" Hallelujah. "'And no secret troubles you. Explain to me the vision of my head that I might that I have seen and its interpretation. Then these were the dream. These were the vision of my head while on my bed. I was looking and behold, a tree in the midst of the Earth, and its height was great. The tree grew and became strong. Its height reached to the heavens, and it could be seen to the ends of the Earth.'" Are you seeing riches? Are you seeing glory? Are you seeing honor? He was seen to the ends of the Earth. Verse 12: "'Its leaves were lovely, its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all. The beast of the field found shade under it. The birds of the heavens dwelt in its branches and also all flesh was fed from it. I saw in the visions of my head while on my bed that and there was a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven, and he cried aloud and said, 'Chop down the tree and cut off its branch and shake off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Let the beast get out from under it and the birds from its branches. Nevertheless, leave the stump and roots in the Earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field. Let it be wet with the dew, and let him graze with the beast on the ground. Let his heart be changed from that of a man, let him be given the heart of a beast, and let seven times pass over him. This decision is by the decree of the watcher and the sentence by the word of the holy one, in order that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomsoever He will. He will set over it the lowest of men.' This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, have seen. Now you, Belteshazzar, declare its interpretation since all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation, but you are able for the spirit of the Holy God is in you.'" Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonished for a time and his thoughts troubled him. So the king spoke and said, "Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or the interpretation trouble you." Belteshazzar answered and said (that is Daniel), "My lord, may the dream concern those who hate you and its interpretation concern your enemies. The tree that you saw, which grew and became strong, whose leave, whose height reaches to the heavens and whose and which could be seen by all the Earth, whose leave were lovely and its fruit abundant, in which was food for all, under which the beast of the field dwelt and in whose branches the birds of the heaven had their nest, it is you, O king, who have grown and become very strong. For your greatness has grown and reaches to the heavens and your dominion to the ends of the Earth. Inasmuch as the king saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, 'Chop down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump and the root in the Earth, bound with a band of iron and and bronze in the tender grass of the field, let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let him graze with the beast of the field until seven times pass over him.' This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Holy One which has come upon my lord the king. They shall drive you from men. Your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field, and they shall make you eat grass like oxen. They shall wet you with dew, with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He will. Inasmuch as they gave the command to leave the stump and the root of the tree, your kingdom shall be assured to you after you know that heaven rules." I want you to notice something. "After he knows that heaven rules." And I pray may you know that heaven rules. May it dawn on you that it is heaven that rules. May you not begin to brag about anything in your life. May you not begin to talk and act as if it was some things about you that make you to be like that. The Bible says until he knows that heaven rules. Therefore, O king, he told him what to do. We'll come back to that later. We'll come back to that later. The Bible says all of this came upon Nebuchadnezzar. At the end of the twelve months, he was walking about the royal palace of Babylon. And the king spoke, saying, "Is this not this great Babylon I have built for a royal dwelling by my might, by my mighty power, and by the honor of my majesty?" While the word was still in the king's mouth, a voice fell from heaven. "King Nebuchadnezzar, it is spoken: the kingdom had depart from you, and you shall and they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beast of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen, and seven times shall pass over you until you know that the Most High rule in the kingdom of men and give it to whomever He chooses." That very hour, the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from men and ate grass like oxen. His body was wet with dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagle's feathers and his nails like bird claws. At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and my understanding returned to me. And I blessed the Most High and paid and honor Him who lives forever, for His dominion is an everlasting dominion and His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the Earth are reputed as nothing. He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the Earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, "What have You done?" What am I trying to make you see? You see what happened to Nebuchadnezzar. Are you seeing what happened to him? Are you seeing what happened to him? I decided to read the whole of that story because many times I notice that we don't pay attention to scripture. So I deliberately read the whole of that scripture so that you can see the fuller story. Nebuchadnezzar was not understanding that what gave him that kingdom was that God, who is the maker of heaven and Earth. Just like He spoke through Prophet Jeremiah, "I am going to give everything to Nebuchadnezzar." He was not taking cognizance of that. He was feeling that you see my might, my soldier, my army, my wisdom, my achievement. And what I'm trying to make you see, every Christian that have that kind of a heart is a godless person. It is godlessness. It is evil. It is an evil heart to have that kind of heart. A heart of the pride of life. Sense of importance and arrogance that comes with an understanding that, "Ah, see what I've made of myself. See what I've become." That kind of heart. That kind of heart is a heart that God will organize His army against. And that is why the Bible says, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, then the love of the Father is not in him." You are empty. When you begin to have a sense of importance that makes you that makes you wear a stamp of ownership on whatever is in your hand. It's a sign that you don't know God. Then love of the Father is not in you. You don't understand God. You don't know Him. And you will see that that is why you will notice that in Jeremiah 9:23. Jeremiah 9:23. Let's see that scripture. Jeremiah 9:23. Look at what the scripture says. It says, "Thus says the Lord: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom." Solomon was the wisest, and yet he still behaved foolishly. Except the Lord watches over the city, the watchman they lie awake in vain. So that you are so wise you can do things wisely. The Bible says don't boast because if God don't watch over your city, you can still act foolishly and stupidly. That is why a man like Solomon could behave so foolishly maritally, despite all the wisdom to manage a nation. You can see that what he ought not to do, there were still foolishness. You see what I'm trying to make you see is that God wants us to have this understanding that we own nothing. It is something that God hates in a man. It is something that will make God to come against you. It is something that will make God to embarrass you and disgrace you. It is something that will make God to turn the matters of your life around. You must be careful. We own nothing. We are mere stewards. He says, "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom. Let not the mighty man glory in his might." We are the spiritual jimgjim. We are the spiritual koko. We are the iroko. We are the mahogany. If we are not there, fellowship cannot move on. Until our judgment come, they will remain in confusion if not for me. You know those kind of stupid way of thinking. Some kind of madness that comes upon us sometimes. I call it madness because actually it is it is a sign of insanity. When I say insanity, I mean spiritual insanity. It is a sign of spiritual blindness. It is a sign of spiritual dullness. It is a sign of complete spiritual confusion. When the mighty man begin to glory in his might. He say, "Nor let the rich man glory in his riches." It's not talking about material things. Those of us that think that because because God just gave you one chenkele corona car, and then the brethren that walks on their leg, it is for you to begin to parade yourself and begin to act as if they are no more brethren, they are no more your equal. You begin to you begin to look at them that, "Look, ah, they don't really understand. It is we that know all the number. They are not smart. You know, we were smart enough, that's why they are still trekking with their leg. They have not come into into into what into into the the center of what is going on. We are the ones controlling, we know it." Ah, you are a dead man. You're a dead man. You're a dead man. You are finished. I'm trying to make you see why certain things come in the form of embarrassment, disgrace, why God will just do certain things. God will just organize around your life. Look at how God organized for Nebuchadnezzar. He begin to do meh meh inside the bush. A world ruler, began to grow claws and then feather, his head became like that of the eagle. He was growing feathers like that of birds. Why? God just wanted to disgrace him and shame him. God just wanted to do, "Look, I will shame you." May God not be against you. Because when God monitors your affliction, nobody can deliver you. May God not be the one monitoring your affliction, monitoring your embarrassment, monitoring your disgrace. Because God just want to show you that, "Look, okay, I will show you." So you see that the Bible is filled with full of instruction about this matter that we own nothing. We own nothing. We own nothing. I will show you one other king. I want us to see one other king again on this matter before we close for today. Next week, I'll be showing us what the implication of these things for our life as believers. How does this thing what is implication for our life as believers? This is a matter today that even the church have removed God from the center. The church has removed God from the center. We have put men at the center. We have put things at the center. Let us see the book of Isaiah 37. Isaiah 37. Let's see what the scripture says and let's see how God answered a king. And let's see how the matter goes. Let's see how God tell this king, let's see how God made this king to realize that the king is just he's just being stupid. Isaiah 37. So that you can get a clearer picture. I will not read verse 23, 24 where we are going actually. I want to read from somewhere where the where the king where the king began to speak and was just ranting, ranting, ranting, ranting, ranting. Let me take it from verse 11 so that I can save some time. I want to save some time. "Look, you have heard what the King of Assyria have done to all the land by utterly destroying them. Shall you be delivered? Have the gods of the nation delivered those whom my father have destroyed: Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar? Where is the King of Hamath, the King of Arpad, and the King of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?" And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messenger and read it. And Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord and spread it before the Lord. Then Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying, "O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, the one who dwell between the cherubims, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the Earth. You made the heavens and the Earth." You see men who understand the matter? "You made the heavens and the Earth. Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear. Open Your eyes, O Lord, and see. Hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God. Truly, Lord, the King of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their land, and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not God, but the work of men and wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them. Now therefore, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the Earth may know that You are the Lord, You alone." Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, "Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib, King of Assyria, this is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning him: The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you, laughed you to scorn. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head behind your back. Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel? By your servant you have reproached the Lord and said, 'By the multitude of my chariot.'" Look at how he reproached the Lord. "By the multitude of my [clapping noise] look at the word 'my', 'my' strength, 'my' ability, 'my' all this 'my' thing we normally do. 'By the multitude of my chariot, I've come up to the heights of the mountain, to the limits of Lebanon. I will cut down its tall cedar and the choice cypress tree. I will enter the farthest height to its fruitful forest. I have dug and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet, I have dried up all the brooks of defense.'" Are you see how this man sees himself? But look at what God said. Look at what Jesus said in verse 26. I will read this one in several translation so that you can appreciate it. In New King James: "Did you not hear long ago how I made it? From ancient times that I formed it? Now I have brought it to pass that you should be for crushing fortified cities into heaps of ruin." NLT: "But have you not heard? It is I, the Lord, who decided this long ago. May God open your eyes." Look at what God is telling this king. That, "It is I, the Lord, who decided this long ago. Long ago I planned what I am now causing to happen." Hallelujah. It is God that was causing it to happen. But the king was because he saw that his soldiers were just destroying this, killing that, overcoming, doing this, and he was looking at himself, "I, me." Oh, may this mind be in us which is in Christ Jesus. He said, "I am meek and lowly in heart." Will we be lowly in heart? May we be like our master. The Bible says who though He shares equality with God, did not count it as something to to brag about, to hold to, but humbled Himself. We, we are nothing. We are not even sharing any equality. We are bragging our mouth just because you have one successful ministry. Just because you have been able to do something and the whole world is praising you, your head begin to swell. You begin to act like turkey. You begin to do you know the way turkey do. Just one thing, one thing, one thing. Do you know what it is? Just because you were privileged to have certain things over some other people. Just because God allows some things, you forgot that long ago it was God who planned it. You just left the matter. You forgot that look, there was a owner who planned that, "Okay, I will give this one to this person at this time." That is why you got it. You begin to brag. Driver bragging with owner's car. Putting your name, placing everything around the car and raising your shoulder at every checkpoint to create impression that you are the owner. May you be delivered from your arrogance. May you be delivered from this high-heartedness. You see, we should be lowly in heart. Anything you have, you received it. No man can receive no man, no man can receive anything except it is given to him from above. Whatever is in your hand, look at what God is telling the king, "Long ago I planned it. What I'm now causing to happen: that you should crush fortified cities into heaps of rubble." Look at it in The Message: "Haven't you gotten the news that I have been behind this long ago? All along, this is a long-standing plan of Mine, and I'm just now making it to happen, using you to devastate strong cities, turning them into piles of rubble." I'm just making it, I'm just making it, [clapping noise] it's like somebody who took cutlass, sharpened the cutlass, and used the cutlass to cut grass. Then the cutlass just began to brag, "Heh heh! Look at how sharp I am. Cut this grass, you think you can stand before me." Is that cutlass normal? Who bought the cutlass? Who sharpened, who did the sharpening of the cutlass? Who is even using the cutlass? Is it the cutlass that is sharp or the person who sharpened the cutlass and is using the cutlass that we should be talking about? Is there anything about cutlass? There's nothing about you. We truly can own nothing. Verse 27, He said, "Therefore their inhabitant had little power." They have little power. This is why their people have so little power and are so easily preyed by you. They were helpless as grass, easily trampled as tender green shots. They were like grass sprouting on the top of a house, easily scorched by the sun. You see when grass is growing on on the roof, you can just easily pull it out. God said that's why they were just so easy because God is God has planned it long ago that I will use this one to destroy this place. And look at how the king was talking. Look at how he was speaking. May the Lord help our heart. May the Lord help our attitude. May may we have the same mind that is in Christ. It's so crucial for our it's so crucial if we must last. It's so crucial if we must continue to enjoy what God is making us to enjoy. It's so crucial. We own nothing. We are mere stewards. By the time we gather next week, we'll be looking at implications for our lives. Implication of this matter. Implication for our life.
